Since applying the ecodiesel settlement ECU flash, my vehicle is downright dangerous to drive. Especially when not fully warmed up, shifting and turbo lag makes the vehicle nearly undriveable in certain circumstances. The gas pedal has a huge lag and non-linear behavior (press to floor, nothing, then everything all at once). Shifting, passing, fuel econony, and driveability were hugely impacted by their emissions update and it has made this expensive truck unsafe, because it is unpredictable based on vehicle and transmission "warmup". when cold the truck is unsafe.

Fca required V08 recall was completed and their aem installed to the PCM/tcm. I picked my truck up and immediately noticed it was down on power. Since I have lost 4-5mpg average over what I was getting before the aem was installed. The truck is overall down on power since the aem was installed. As well the truck is dangerous to drive until the coolant temp reaches at least 150 degrees F. the truck has no power when the engine is below 150F and can't get out of its own way and leaves me vulnerable to a collision due to turbo lag and lack of power. If I pull into traffic to merge or cross an intersection my fear is I will not be able to accelerate quickly enough or avoid an accident should I need to. I cannot allow my wife to drive the truck any longer due to the dangers and lack of power.

I own a 2015 Ram 1500, which I purchased new in August of 2015. This vehicle has the ecodiesel engine as original equipment. This same engine was the topic of a class action law suit filed against Fiat/Chrysler. The agreements in the settlement of that suit requires Ram dealers to update the engine software so that it will meet the original emissions specs. The update is also not supposed to effect drivability. My truck was updated with the V08 recall for this purpose. Since this update, when the engine is cold, the truck has a very long delay (4~7 seconds) before it starts to accelerate from a stop. The engine then accelerates very slowly. It is a serious safety concern when trying to merge into traffic. Once the engine comes to full operating temperature, it comes close to original performance, but it never performs as it did before the recall was done. The service department at my local Ram dealer has verified that there is nothing wrong with any part on the engine, and the problem is a direct result of the V08 recall. This vehicle has been well maintained and exhibited no problems prior to this recall. The settlement required that the update did not effect drivability, but it did so in a dangerous manner.

Fca issued a recall for ecodiesel Ram after an emissions lawsuit. The aem update was not supposed to affect vehicle performance or mpg. It does. Now, after getting the update, the truck is unpredictable in how it drives in regards to acceleration. This creates a dangerous situation when pulling out onto roads with traffic/cross traffic - sometimes it will accelerate very slowly and almost get hit, other times it is fine. Aside from the non safety issues related to fca's emission update (drop in mpg from 29mpg to 20mpg), it has created an unpredictable driving situation with the performance of the engine. I know I am not the only one having these issues too. Thank you for your time.

2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel mileage: ~97,000 date of incident: 03/24/2019 complaint: Engine fire. Location: Two lane state highway (in motion) speed: 55-60 towing: Boat (~3000 lbs) source of fire: Fuel injector (stated by Ram certified diesel mechanic) Ram warranty claim: Denied by what Fiat Chrysler called "legal" (my truck was still within the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty) outcome: Utilized my insurance (allstate). Allstate does not cover the source of fire thus, you will not see the cost of the "fuel injector" on the insurance claim document. Submit document: Insurance claim document included.

My 2015 Ram ecodiesel is part of the fca recall for emmisions. Immediately after the recall was performed on my vehicle I noticed a decline in performance. The vehicle has a severe lag in acceleration. I drove the vehicle for two weeks before it went back to the dealer to have them check it. They told me the vehicle is performing as designed. Yesterday I drove the vehicle with a load in the bed 2 times. It is my opinion that my 2015 Ram ecodiesel is completely unsafe to drive with any type of load in the bed or on a trailer. There are times where it has no acceleration at all for what seems like a lone time. Probably 3-5 seconds before the vehicle responds. I have filed a complaint with fca but all they did was call the dealer and repeated to me that the vehicle performed as designed. All I am asking them for is to make my vehicle operate as it did before the emissions recall. My mpg has dropped drastically and the truck does not accelerate or shift as it did. This has resulted in severe lag when pulling out in to traffic, driving up hills and even starting from a dead stop at a traffic light or stop sign.

After completing the approved emissions modification, per the fca-epa lawsuit settlement, I've noticed substantial turbo lag and shifting issues (holding gear too long). This is particularly dangerous when pulling out onto streets or expressways where I need to accelerate up to speed quickly. There is a 3-5 second lag before the turbo begins spooling and my truck begins accelerating.

I recently had the aem recall update done on my 2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel and now my truck's performance and fuel mileage has really suffered. Lost about 3 mpg and the truck is very sluggish now. It makes it dangerous to drive. It just barely moves when you press the accelerator pedal to merge into the flow of traffic. The transmission shifts rough and revs the engine higher before changing gears. Very disappointed in the recall and fca for making a good running truck into a dangerous to drive piece of junik!

Just had the ecodiesel emission software update completed and truck does not perform near where it had been. It was never a rocket but it was better than it is now. Sluggish from standstill, especially when cold. Hesitation when shifting. Downshifts more often and sooner. I have owned the truck since new and it has had zero modifications. This issues I described above were not there before the update. There will be some accidents caused by the software.

This vehicle was associated with an emissions recall for its 3.0 liter ecodiesel engine. An aem 'flash' was done to the ECM module, and after that was performed (as part of the emissions recall) the engine's acceleration - previously very responsive - is dangerously lacking. There is a 2-4 second hesitation and terrible response and turbo-lag, and I've very nearly caused an accident when simply trying to pull out into traffic across on-coming traffic lanes. The response from a dead stop is dangerously slow. It's almost as if it's gone into 'limp' mode - which totally disables the turbo. Also - even when moving - if trying to accelerate to pass or move over, the response is agonizingly slow.

Engine fire on 2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel. Loss of engine power, but still running, at freeway speed. No warning lights or indicators. Pulled to side of the road as "electronic throttle position failure" appeared on info screen. Pulled over and opened the hood. There were flames coming from the back of the engine. Complete loss.

I had previously filed a complaint in regards to the effect of the aem (V08) ecodiesel class action settlement recall. The number of the previous complaint is: 11210536. In addition to what was previously reported as dangerous/safety related, the vehicle for several minutes after a cold start, although apparently running smoothly, when attempting to accelerate, will not. A turtle could out run the vehicle. It takes over 5 minutes of driving to get a more reasonable acceleration. Again, regardless of a cold start, the vehicle will not accelerate after normal driving, then slowing, and then trying to accelerate. It takes several seconds for the transmission to downshift and for the turbo lag to go away - very dangerous when turning in front of or merging with traffic.

"aem recall" following the aem recall on the Dodge Ram ecodiesel, vehicle experiences dead spots in it acceleration. Pressing the gas pedal, even to the floor, provides no input to the truck for 3-5 seconds. This issue has placed myself and my family in danger in multiple intersections and in merging traffic. Vehicle has also experienced deminished fuel mileage of over 3mpg. Fca specifically states the following: "the aem is not expected to change any of your key vehicle attributes, such as average fuel economy, reliability, durability, vehicle performance, drivability, engine noise or vibration, or other driving characteristics. Click here to read the court approved notice that includes important additional details about the effect of the aem on your vehicle." Almost all of the vehicle characteristics listed are affected in a negative way. In doing so, fca is placing all ecodiesel owners at risk.

The recent ecodiesel recall was performed. As I pulled out of the dealership the truck stalled in the middle of a four lane road like the transmission slipped. The next day the truck literally stalled in the middle of the road. The rpms goes up to over 5000 then the truck slowly gains power. I pulled back into the lot and pressed the pedal to the floor from a dead stop and the same thing. Went back to the dealership and was told the only complaint so far was a loss in mpg. On the ecodieselram. Com forum several other ecodiesel owners are experiencing the same issue. This issue is going to get someone killed!

Took the truck in for a recall reflash of a controller. Two weeks later, at 58mph, without warning dashboard lite up numerous symbols/codes and engine shutoff, losing power steering and power brakes. I steered vehicle onto side of road, and engine would not restart. Took first dealership 4 weeks to diagnosis a crank position tone wheel, and sensor failure. Vehicle was returned then 2 weeks later, while refueling at a gas station same failure occurred with diesel engine stoppage, and no restart. Vehicle was taken to second Chrysler dealership. Vehicle has been in second dealership for 11 weeks, "undergoing diagnosis". as of 6/6/2019, no solution found. Frankly, I do not believe they have a clue what is causing the random engine shut off, nor how to repair it. This is what makes it such a frightening defect. It appears random, with absolutely no warning until the dashboard lights up and instantaneously the engine shuts off. How am I suppose to drive a vehicle with my two children around, when it could stall at any time at any speed" I've been lucky twice. Once at 58mph on a two lane road, once stationary. What if it fails merging on to an expressway, or crossing a railroad track"

My Ram 1500 was taken to dealer because of the "recall U07 dx 8-speed rotary." As I pulled out of the dealership I had no power for approximately 2 seconds. I drove the truck 5 miles, still having "lag time" when I pressed the accelerator. I immediately called and returned the vehicle to the dealership. They informed me they had to "regenerate" the recall. They did so, but the result was still "lag time." They then informed me it would take "time" for the motor and transmission "computers" to synchronize. I have driven the Ram over 100 miles and the problem still exist. Making the 12 mile trip to work when at mile 10 my truck experienced a decrease in power followed by a shuddering noise when on the throttle. Limped the vehicle off to the shoulder where I noted smoke. Opened the hood to discover a small fire toward the rear of the engine compartment. Tried to extinguish the flames with no luck and with in 5 mins the flames had engulfed the front of the truck.
