I am receiving two messages: Service Electronic Braking System and Service Antilock Braking System. The cruise control and trailer braking system will not operate under this condition. I tow a 5th wheel trailer. This is a common problem on Ram trucks. The local dealer has quoted me between $1000 and $1600 for the repair. I have a friend who had the problem at 36,000 miles. Ram had made a change to both parts causing this problem (part numbers 68143491AB and 68347098AB) Why are customers having to pay for an obvious design flaw? I was told there is no plan for a recall at this time.

During a routine tire rotation, the service technician advised me that the brake calipers appeared to be swelling when heating up and were cutting grooves into the wheels. He proceeded to show me the damage and indicated that this could result in a catastrophic event if not corrected. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership and informed them of the issue. It was looked at and agreed that was the problem. I was advised to contact the manufacturer to start a claim. So far, that is of no benefit. They are basically telling me that until a catastrophic event occurs, there is nothing they will do. I am still trying to get them to cover it. These are all factory parts and I am the sole owner of the vehicle.

At 30,076 miles, I began to receive 2 warning notifications in the truck-??s instrument panel: -??Service Electronic Braking System-?? and an amber ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) warning light. Both warnings include a loud audible warming when they illuminate, appear when driving the truck, but seem completely random in nature. Either or both notifications illuminate and the warning lights stay on for as little as a few seconds to as long as a minute. The frequency of the audible and visual warning lights is also random. On some driving trips, they may appear up to 6-7 times each minute. On other trips they may occur 2-3 times over several miles/minutes. driving/stopping on wet pavement could be problematic because the ABS, Cruise control, and built-in trailer brake controller ALL stop working when the warning lights come on. If hauling a very heavy trailer, and the trailer brake controller fails, then this could cause a fatal condition for not only the driver of the truck, but all those in the vicinity should a sudden slow down or stop be needed.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle had to be repaired out of pocket. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

At 13,000 miles, I began to receive 2 warning notifications in the truck-??s instrument panel: -??Service Electronic Braking System-?? and an amber ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) warning light. Both warnings include an audible -??dinging sound-?? when they illuminate, appear when driving the truck, but are completely random in nature. Either or both notifications illuminate and the warning lights can stay on for as little as afew seconds to as long as a minute. The frequency of the audible and visual warning lights is also incredibly random. On some driving trips, they may appear up to 6-7 times each hour. On other driving trips they may happen 2-3 times over several miles/hours. Some trips there are no warnings in an hour-??s time. I took my truck to a trusted repair facility and was told that the 2 parts leading to the warnings (HSU-Hydraulic Unit and ABS Module) should not need replacement until 50,000-60,000 miles, so the warning lights were reset. He also informed me that this has been a known issue by Ram per an internet search, yet no recalls have been issued to date. Since I tow a trailer, I asked about the safety of not replacing the 2 parts and was told that driving/stopping on wet pavement could be problematic if the parts were not replaced. The warning lights issue persisted despite the resets, so I took the truck to a Ram dealership service center. They confirmed that no safety recall were issued to address this problem and I was quoted $1,500 for them to replace the 2 parts. I can provide that paperwork, if needed. My own internet search of Ram Forums confirmed what my repair facility found as well. It appears there has been widespread complaints from other Ram owners since at least 2014 and many are at a loss as to why Ram refuses to address the problem. Many had the repairs done out of sheer frustration with hearing repeated audible -??dinging sounds-?? while driving, plus out of concern for their personal safety.

The truck had this issue at 7800 miles when I purchased it and now at 33000 miles I have it diagnosed. The ABS control module and hydraulic control module have failed which causes the ABS to not work. This has caused the tires to skid during hard braking or winter weather. Luckily, I am aware of this issue and can anticipate braking needs and adjust accordingly.

The service electronic braking system message came on and the traction control icon also illuminated while descending a steep grade while towing my 14-?? livestock trailer. Noticed the trucks factory trailer brake controller stopped working when the traction control light came on. It-??s not a good feeling coming down a mountain road with cattle in the trailer and all of a sudden no trailer brakes. Got it slowed down and pulled over. Turned the truck off and when I started it back up the icon was gone and trailer brake was functioning normally. This has occurred twice now while towing. This could lead to a serious accident involving others on the road and not to mention my livestock.

It seems that there is a failure problem with a ABS component on these trucks. I have already replace the hydraulic control unit once on my truck at about 27,000 miles and now I am experiencing the same problem again at about 45,500 miles. The ABS and traction control warning lights have come on again indicating a problem. It will flash service anti-lock braking system and service electronic braking system but never really stays on all the time, these lights also will cause the cruise control to shut off. Usually only comes on while driving on bumpy roads, but will come on and go off a very excessive amount while driving. This seems to be a problem with a lot of people with this truck as I have seen from my research into the problem and I think the Ram needs to address the issue with a recall and not make people pay $600-$800 to have the vehicle serviced to fix the issue that I'm having for the second time!

My 2017 Ram 2500 diesel pickup truck has a failure code of C0020-01 - ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure. This is for the antilock brakes. I had an outside repair shop check the code with a scan tool along with a Ram dealership. The warning light & alarm goes on and off non stop when driving or even sitting still (very annoying) which also means my antilock brakes are not working. In Michigan, that is a very helpful safety feature when driving on snow and ice. I have contacted the factory Ram customer service number 4 times now and all I'm told is it is out of warranty. I could see that if the truck had, say 100,000 miles on it, but it only has 22,000 miles on it and the antilock brakes need to be worked on already" I'm not asking for new brake pads here. This is a safety issue and Ram Trucks should be forced into a recall about it. I am not the only one. Google it and you will find many, and I mean many trucks having the same issue and many comment, why isn't there a recall on such a safety item as antilock brakes. When talking to the service rep, he said they don't have the parts in stock and they do not have an ETA when any will be available. Makes me wonder if so many others are buying them, they cannot get enough to keep up with demand. We all want safer roads. So I ask, why do we have auto manufacturers install antilock brake systems on new vehicles and then not stand behind them? I realize my truck is out of warranty, but 22,000 miles on my truck and I need serious brake work already" Unexcusable Ram!

I have a C0020-01(ABS pump motor control general electrical failure) code on my 2017 Ram 2500 truck with only 43, xxx miles. This code and mechanical issue was identified/confirmed by a Ram dealership. The ABS/traction control warning light started intermittently turning on, and then off about 1,000 miles ago and has continued until now. With this issue, the ABS/traction controls do not work on the vehicle. This alone puts myself, my family-??s, and other people-??s lives at risk. This is a very well documented and well known safety issue on these Ram trucks. Any simple internet search will show that this is true. Even the Ram Service Representative said that these trucks should be recalled because of this safety issue. There should absolutely be a recall because it is a direct safety issue that involves so many of these Ram trucks. With an extremely common faulty ABS/traction control issue such as this, people-??s lives are at risk. I believe that I shouldn-??t have to pay Ram over 1,000 dollars to have this safety issue fixed, but I will because it will be to keep my family safe by having a functioning ABS and traction control system on my truck.

Service Electronic Brake and ABS lights flash on with dash chime indicating failure while operating the vehicle. No code stored. Intermittent issue - after reading other complaints it appears that this is a serious issue across all Ram owners. Dealer indicated that numerous truck owners are having the same issues and that currently parts are not available. Service tech advised me that the vehicles ABS may fail while operating.

ABS malfunction indicator lamp, service ABS system and service electronic braking system message intermittently coming on. Sometimes for a short period of time and sometimes stay on for entire trip. Causes cruise control and traction control to be immobilized. My safety is at risk due to the ABS and traction control not being functional. I have not had it diagnosed by a dealer yet, however there are hundreds if not thousands of people on Ram forums complaining of the same issues without Ram taking care of the fix and the costs are on the vehicle owners. Its not something like a radio is having issues, its the braking system, which I would think that RAM or FCA and the NHTSA would think is a pretty serious problem with these vehicles.

SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS WARNINGS, BOTH VISIBLE AND AUDIBLE. THE EFFECT OF THE MODULE FAILURE ON BRAKES AND SAFETY IS UNKNOWN. THE WARNINGS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, OR WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE WARNINGS SUBSIDE BUT SEEM TO BE TRIGGERED EASILY BY HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD WHILE MOVING. Currently Dealer can not fix as the part is backordered. (Sept 2021)

The Hydraulic Control Unit and the Anti-lock brake module on my 2017 Ram 2500 Diesel truck is going out. It has 84,000 miles on this truck. This is very costly to repair and Ram knows it is a problem! It is also very dangerous for the brakes to be an issue on any vehicle, but especially on one that has a heavy front end as diesel trucks do. The braking system must be reliable to stop the truck itself. This truck was built and designed to pull trailers and as a work truck. It is very dangerous to consider that these 2 components are not working when pulling a loaded trailer which depends on the braking system as well to stop the vehicle. I am also enclosing several websites to show you that Ram knows there is a problem but hasn't issued a recall on the problem. One of these sites is a Ram forum that shows many people are dealing with this issue. https://www.ramforumz.com/threads/abs-hcu-replacement.276340/ https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/3rd-generation-ram-non-drivetrain-all-years-101/abs-cab-hcu-replacement-218820/ Thank you for your time! Service electronic brake system and ABS warnings, both visible and audible. Dealer replaced ABS module under warranty for first occurrence at approx 23000 miles. Occurred again at approx 40000 miles and diagnosed as same issue agin at independent shop. This resulted in a $900 replacement of the same module. The effect of the the module failure on brakes and safety is unknown to me. The warnings can happen at any time, when starting vehicle, or when driving. Sometimes the warnings subside but seem to be triggered easily by hitting a small bump on the road while moving.
