I have approximately 86000 miles on my truck and today the Service Electronic Brake system warning starting coming on and off. Along with the ABS light and traction control light. Randomly flashing on and then off. Staying off most of the time. I did a search and apparently this is a huge issue with these trucks, a couple of electronic assemblies melting together and going out. This needs to be a recall that Ram pays for. What happens if my brakes go out?

ABS/HCU modules have failed. A loss of ABS and braking power have been experienced. When towing, this creates a problem as it happens very suddenly and intermittently, placing myself and others at risk of loss of braking power. Warning lamps indicating ABS failure/electronic braking system service is needed come on only when braking, and is intermittent. There is no indication of a problem until brakes are applied.

I have a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck and my ABS engine light came on back in February 2023 indicating that I have a problem with my braking and traction control system. It was because of the Hydraulic Control Module was bad. I Contacted a Factory Chrysler Parts supplier to obtain a new part to have it replaced but they were on backorder until June. In June I contacted them again and was told they were on back order until October 2023. I just contacted them again 9/27/23 and now I am being told the part is on back order until February 2024. This will be a full year causing me to drive without the ABS or Traction control not working, as well as not having cruise control. Doing a search on the internet there are a lot of others having the same issue which is bad enough but when you can't even get the replacement part for over a year on a piece of safety equipment for your vehicle. This is more then a safety issue.

While driving ABS and traction control lights came on and cruise control would no longer function. This has occurred 3 times and had to be repaired 3 times. 10/10/2019, 07/20/2021, and 08/19/2023. The parts replaced: 68347098-AB Module AN 08035030, 68143491-AA Control A 08035030, 68143491-AA Control Anti-LO 080, 68143491-AB Control Anti-LO 080. The parts are not available for inspection. Also, brake fluid 4318080-AD was replaced or added each time. These parts were replaced by authorized Dodge Ram dealers, one in Michigan and twice by a local Dodge Ram dealer in Florida. No warning of problem and vehicle still functioned except for cruise control. Problem first occurred at 3,305 miles, then at 17,161 miles, then at 25,203 miles

Recently the ABS Warning light and Service Electronic Braking System light have been coming on intermittently. When it happens an audible alarm goes off and several functions shut down, like the cruise control. The problem has no rhyme or reason and some days it happens for several hours and some days it never happens. I am concerned that the ABS is not working properly but also concerned that I might be using cruise control on the highway and it shuts down creating a hazard and possibly accident. I have not contacted the dealer but see that it is a common problem with my vehicle on online forums and that there are class action suits for the issue. This should be handled by the manufacturer with a recall before someone gets killed. Currently the dealers are making a fortune making repairs that often recur in a short period.

I bought this truck new from the dealer. At 18,920 miles, the ABS service light came on and the dealer said the ABS module would need to be replaced. A new part was installed. At 49,715 miles the light came on again and the dealer says the module is defective and needs to be replaced again. This part is on back order for over 2 months telling me these items are in high demand. I don't believe that items like this should be defective and require replacement in this short interval.

Failure of the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and ABS module. Caused loss of ABS system, Electronics Stability Control system, Electronic braking system, cruise control. Messages appeared on dash. All associated warning lights illuminated. Dealer stated this is a known problem and parts have been on backorder.

The "service electrical brake system" and "service abs system" lights / warnings have been intermittently going on and off. This also does not allow the cruise control to work. The alerts can range from once every couple of days to repeatedly going off non-stop during my drive. Issue started around Oct of 2022. Warnings will stop for several months then return.

I am receiving an alert in my truck that states, "Service Antilock Brake System." The emergency warning sound and lights on the dash/display appear constantly. This also affects the "Speed Control" as it kicks off the cruise control when the emergency warning sound and lights come on the dash. I have taken the vehicle to a RAM Dealership who diagnosed the issue, but was advised that parts are on backorder, which is unacceptable as this can be a very dangerous and potentially costly situation. I believe that NHTSA should look into this and provide a recall on the vehicle and expedite the process to getting, not only my vehicle, but others around the country fixed in a timely manner.

In the morning after first start, the warning lights and message proceed after the first brake pedal application. I have 78,500 miles on the truck.

Service ABS system/ Electronic break system warning light came the dash control. When that happened in September of 2020 I lost traction control and cruise control on my truck. Since this accrued I-??ve had several near misses of accidents do to lose of ABS system. I have not had it looked at by the dealership due to the fact that two family members have the same truck with the exact problems. They took their trucks into dealer. The 2021 was fixed under warranty and the 2017 truck was repaired out of pocket to dealership.

The ABS/Traction Control System (TCS) error flashes intermittently while driving the vehicle. This dash warning states the ABS and TCS systems are non-functional. The vehicle is available for inspection. Safety is adversely impacted by the braking system not performing its design function. Traction Control perturbations can also have adverse impacts to the drivers control of the vehicle. This vehicle has has yet to be inspected, but similar failures for this make/model indicate a faulty ABS module and/or sensor issue. Warning error messages are broadcast frequently via the instrument cluster display. Initial warnings @ 32k miles, fall of 2023.

My truck has 32000 miles on it. Its just out of warranty and the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit is out again. This will be the third HCU put into my truck. This is a known problem from Ram and it has never been addressed. NHTSA please have RAM make it right and fix the problem so costumers are not spending $1500 every 15,000 miles.

ABS, and traction control systems fail intermittently. Lights come on and flash and ABS and cruise control no longer work. Happens at various speeds and times. Sometimes can be addressed by pulling over turning off the vehicle and restarting. Dealer states that ABS module and pump need to be replaced but have no available parts. I was advised that the estimated cost is ~ $1800 and the problem may arise again. This is on a vehicle that has less than35k miles
