Service ABS and Traction control warning lights on. Computer says ABS circulation pump is bad. Part is unavailable. There should be a recall, this is a known and documented safety issue. Part is discontinued, how is it possible to disregard this issue" What are we supposed to do........drive a vehicle that wont stop as it should"

The ABS/Traction Control light continually goes on and off. I took the vehicle into Tate Dodge Ram Service center in Glen Burnie, MD the first week of January 2023. They diagnosed the problem as the ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Control Units as bad. I was told that it would take 2 weeks to get the parts. I checked back with them 2 weeks later and the ETA had changed to March 16, 2023. I left the vehicle with them and checked back after March 16th, the ETA had then been changed to August 15, 2023. I picked the vehicle up from the service department and check on it August 15th. They had received on of the part, but the other one was scheduled to be delivered Sept 15, 2023. I contacted them again on Sept 18th, when I was told that the part would not be delivered until February 15, 2024 (13+ months). The lights continue to go on and off with a bell each time the light comes on, which is very distracting. It is unsettling to drive, not knowing if my brakes will work in an emergency or if the traction control will work when we get slippery road this winter.

Service electronic brake system keeps coming up on the dash. When this happens you lose cruise control, ABS, and your abs and traction light come on. This goes on and off constantly and dings every time it happens. This is a huge problem that Chrysler is aware of but will not do anything about. I had mine replaced once and 23 months later I have the same 13000 dollar issue.

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 - 6.7 Cummins diesel, The service ABS system and service electronic brake system dash lights come on and go off constantly. Every time they come on there is an alarm that goes off, and it also kicks the cruise control out. This problem started had around 32,000 miles and has continued to now 71,000 miles. I have tried multiple times to have this, diagnosed with a system reader with no luck. Have had the system reset also with no luck. I-??ve read on multiple Dodge/Ram forums that this is an ongoing problem with 2017-18 and up Rams that they refuse to address. Any information would greatly be appreciated to get these problems resolved as it appears there are multitudes of people having the same issue. Thank You Note: The mileage on the pictures below is not when the problem started, these were a picture of the lights that I could catch in between them coming on and going off so I could show the mechanic what was happening.

About a month ago the ABS and Traction Control warning dash lights started coming on intermittently with warning tone. They go on/off randomly or not at all some days. I had the codes pulled and there was only one, C0020-1 General ABS System Failure. This has not resulted in any dangerous vehicle incidents as of yet, but I must have my vehicle to tow/work and the expensive replacement parts are on indefinite back order. I understand this is a very common problem for 2017-2018 Ram HD trucks and Ram is doing very little to prioritize a solution.

The hydraulic control unit (HCU) of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) is defective (part number 68143491AA). Without warning the defective HCU will cause the ABS and or cruise control to shut off. If this happens during hard braking, on slippery terrain or in heavy traffic, it could cause an accident. The indications the system is having a problem are warning messages on the dash display, which is great, but the warnings goes on and off for no apparent reason (does not stay on). This can happen at any speed. I replaced my HCU with the same part number (68143491AA) approximately one year ago. This corrected the problem until a couple of weeks ago when the same indicators started again. After a lot of research (Google, Ram heavy duty and Power Wagon forums) I came across one post that discussed how a brush in the motor for the HCU can become stuck, failing to maintain electrical contact with the motor windings. With nothing to lose, I decided to pull the motor off my HCU and take it apart. Once apart, I did determine that one of the brushes was in fact stuck. I am not sure if the brush became stuck just because of dirt or if the metal body the brush slides in was crimped too tight (could be a combination of both). I was able to free up the brush and put the motor back together; the motor functioned properly when bench tested. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reinsert the motor back into the HCU body (plungers are in the way and need to be compressed). I do not know if this requires a special tool, and my research has not come up with anything. Ram has apparently corrected the problem with an updated part, part number 68143491AB. Unfortunately, I cannot find anyone that has this new part in stock. As this is a safety issue affecting a lot of Ram trucks (check the forums and you will find a lot of people discussing the issue, so this is probably way underreported to the NHTSA), Ram should replace all 68143491AA with 68143491AB under a recall.

The ABS module is bad. Can not drive the vehicle for fear the brakes will fail, especially when pulling a trailer loaded with animals (farm). This is ridiculous, a $86K vehicle with less than 40K miles (we have not driven the truck in over a year) because of a faulty part that the company will not own up to. PLEASE have MOPAR/RAM/Chrylser own up to this faulty part and issue a recall ASAP. When the brakes lock up and someone dies, that will be a real issue. Sincere thanks,

HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILURE. While driving I encountered an emergency braking situation (deer in roadway) I applied the brakes and they did not go into an ABS slide/braking condition and upon applying the brakes, causing the brakes to lock up and the vehicle begin to change its direction, the dash dinged and illuminated the ABS and Traction Control light. After this incident the lights continued to flash on and off even while parked, and the brakes not applied. I was able to get to my home, I attached my scanner and followed the procedures set for diagnosis coming to the conclusion that the hydraulic control unit had failed. I was able to get it into the dealer on the 14th of September and they had concurred with me that the Hydraulic Control Unit had failed. There were no lights on prior to this incident to make me or any other driver aware that there was an issue with the ABS system. Chrysler has knowledge of this for there is a TSB (S2005000004) as well as a redesign of the part, 68143491AA to 68143491AB. Per the dealer the part is on national backorder until February of 2024. The vehicle is available for your inspection for I will not take it on the road with these faults risking mine or the safety of my family or others especially with winter right around the corner.

ABS module has gone out 3 times since I bought the truck new. Without the ABS system working properly the stopping distance could be reduced. Dealer has acknowledged the problem, saying they had a bad batch of parts but that seems to be incorrect. Looks to be a bad design with the number of these problems on these year model trucks. The dealer has already replaced the part twice and it-??s gone out again, less than a year later. Warning lamp, message, and audio alarm cycle on and off intermittent but constant through a drive.

first evidence of a problem had to deal with the accelerator pedal A new pedal was installed..The engine would start but only idle, truck would not move when put into drive. It had to be towed. Then it was something about a door sensor. It was replaced. Then the brake fluid problem started. It used 2 full quarts with no drips on the floor. Now I am told that the brake booster / hydraulic system Is the problem. This truck Has only 31,000 miles, Not driven in the winter and looks like new. I am now afraid of the safety issues associated with plowing into another vehicle in a panic stop, The truck has been in the dealer (Jeff Wyler, Canal Winchester, Ohio ) for nearly 8 weeks. It has been promised last Friday then Tues, then Thursday. Today is Friday and the service advisor (Jay or Joey) are not returning my calls. Please let know what I should expect. A few months after I bought this vehicle I started getting abs and traction control lights intermittently. Fast forward a year and it has progressed. Now while I-??m driving every few seconds I get and audible chime and lights on the dash. This is constant and extremely irritating and distracting. It is also unsafe. I-??m constantly driving which no ABS, no traction control and no cruise control. Ram obviously know this is an issue due to lawsuits filed against them and they have done nothing to fix the issue. You cannot buy a new part to fix it because they are -??reengineering-?? the part. It was originally supposed to be ready to ship in august 2023. Here we are in September and they have pushed the date back to February 2024. Leaving all customer drying a 2017-2018 Ram 2500 with an unsafe vehicle and no option to fix it. We also can not trade the vehicle in as the dash lights up and chimes and no dealer wants an unsafe truck that cannot be fixed. A recall is expect at the very least

The ABS light came on and went off intermittently, which also disabled the cruise control when the light was on. Eventually the light stayed on. Most recently the start button quit working properly. We have had it at the dealership twice with no results. We have talked to the dealership many times and been getting the run around. The latest was today and was told the parts are back ordered until 2024. They have not given us any paperwork because we do not have to pay. We also have and had the radio (main computer) replaced a couple of times and the screen still blinks randomly.

In July of 2020 the service alarm went off for my electronic braking system and ABS. I took it to the local RAM dealership and they replaced the Hydraulic Control Unit for the ABS System (not covered under warranty). Now, in August of 2023 I am again having the same service alarm for the electronic braking system and ABS sporatically occur. I have not yet taken it back to the dealership, but in my search on YOUTUBE, this appears to be a systemic problem that the manufacturer is not addressing.

ABS and traction control light on. This is a well known issue with the Ram 2500 years 17-18. I pull a toy hauler with 2 motorcycles in it. This is a 28 foot trailer. I did not not get in an accident but I have no traction control or ABS at this moment. Tires will spin very easily in this truck in the rain. Had the back end step out leaving work crossing traffic as I had no ABS intervention and it was coming off of a big hill. The dealer should be covering this. I have an appointment to have it looked at and was told the ABS units are on back order till February which makes perfect since because they are all failing. Hopefully by the time I have my appointment this will be covered after reading about the lawsuit against them. Apparently they recalled the 19-22 vehicles for the same issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake warning light illuminated, and the "Service ABS" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with ABS failure, and the contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that parts would not be available until March 2024. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The VIN was unavailable.
