The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the rearview camera screen turned black when the vehicle was placed in reverse. There were no warning indicators illuminated; however, "error" would display occasionally on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep (7740 ne loop 820, fort worth, tx 76180, (817) 522-4981) where it was diagnosed that the camera needed an update. The update was performed five times, but failed each time. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19V021000 (steering). The failure mileage was 20,000.
