I bought this vehicle used at around 105,000 miles. I have since spent almost $22,000 on repairing of the diesel exhaust system.. my vehicle is actually in the shop now it-??s been in the shop since middle of October on and off as they cannot effectively diagnose the problem. Actually they can diagnose the problem. They just can-??t fix the problem. I have all my receipts, but they are in the truck currently and the truck is currently at the dealership here in Imlay city Michigan. This issue has been going on for the last two years at around a total cost to me of $20,000.

The truck was initially brought in on April 10, 2024, for a continuous regeneration issue with the DPF filter, showing codes P242F and P1451. The dealership diagnosed it as requiring a new EGR valve and possibly a DPF filter assembly, under the VB6 emissions recall and extended warranty (XQ1). After replacing the EGR valve, the Y-78 HPFP safety recall was completed. Upon completion, the technician noted multiple fuel-related DTCs, lack of power, and metal debris at the fuel control actuator caused by a failed CP4 pump. At this time, the dealership was unaware of the XQ1 warranty, so instead of replacing the DPF filter, they force regenerated it. Upon picking up the truck, the check engine light came on (April 26, 2024). After reporting it, the dealership stated the DPF filter needed replacement, and on May 26, 2024, it was replaced under XQ1. However, after picking up the truck again, the check engine light came back on, and diagnostics revealed misfires across all six cylinders (codes P0300-?"P0306) and abnormally high fuel pressure at the wire harness-?"issues that weren't present before the EGR valve or HPFP recall repairs. The truck has since remained at the dealership, with multiple unsuccessful attempts to fix the issue by replacing the fuel lifter, wire harness, fuel filter, and a second Y-78 recall replacement due to "faulty parts" from the first attempt. The dealership charged a diagnostic fee and suggested replacing rocker arms and push rods, but this did not resolve the problem. The dealership has since recommended replacing the PCM module but then retracted the recommendation and is now requesting a new diagnostic fee to tear down the engine, remove cylinder heads, and inspect for debris, as the misfires and high fuel pressure have persisted since April 26. The safety concern is that the truck behaves as though it is starving for fuel when the engine light reappears, with stored codes showing misfires and high fuel pressure, related to Y-78.

On June 26, 2024 during a long road trip, the vehicle lost power repeatedly in the middle of an area with no road service. It put my safety and that of my passenger at risk on the highway as losing power suddenly causes danger in fast-moving traffic causing the risk of potential collisions with other vehicles. There was no warning lamp indicating the failure would occur. To this date, the dealer has not fixed the issue. After approximately three weeks, I picked up the vehicle after it as allegedly repaired (at that time the dealer stated it was an electrical issue). The vehicle failed again not more than one-half mile from the Omak Dodge service center placing my safety at risk yet again. I managed to get the vehicle back to the service center at which time, the dealer stated after consultation with RAM technical support, that the issue was a failure in the fuel system. The dealer claims that the problem was the failure of a fuel injector/pump that caused particulate matter to contaminate the entire fuel system. Being that it was allegedly a power train failure, it was to have been covered under the power train warranty. After approximately three months of delay, the dealer stated the truck was repaired. On arriving at the dealer to pick up the truck, the dealer stated it wasn't repaired and had an exhaust issue. The truck remains at the dealer to this date, October 25, 2024. The dealer states that the exhaust issue is yet another issue with the truck that is covered under a warranty voluntarily extended to 10 years by RAM.

I had recall work done on my truck on 3/2023- it is not listed on your website that anything has been fixed on my truck. My truck quit working 5/2023 and has been at my personal shop since then. They ended up doing the same work as the recall that was performed on 3/2023 and is not working still. I looked up on the website and our vehicle is showing no recalls were done on this truck. The dealership is having me jump through hoops to have them take the vehicle back to try to fix the recall that my personal dealership said was wrong with the vehicle.

I-??ve been waiting for a recall fix for the Y78 on my Ram Cummins. My dealer keeps saying they only get in a couple of the high pressure fuel pumps every few weeks. I-??ve started the process back in December with no estimated wait time other than it will be many months before they fix it. I know many people who have but a direct replacement pump that will remedy the problem and have been reimbursed for parts and labor. My really helpful dealer this morning told me to contact NHTSA and file a complaint about how to go about the reimbursement process to get it fixed myself or provide me other options to get it fixed. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been put off by RAM for 2 years now on three different recalls. I've attempted to get several dealerships to fix them. The most recent dealership, Greenville Tx Dodge RAM, [XXX] @ [XXX] tells me that I am on 'a list' to be called when they have the parts. I've been on 'the list' since Dec 2022, originally committing to a 2-3 month wait. Today I've been told at best, another 2-3 months. Recall ZB8/22V-904 Tailgate latch alignment Recall Y78/21V-880 High Pressure Fuel pump Recall W24/20V-207 Bed Step (Safety) Manufactures should be required/held accountable for completing recalls in a timely manner. Continuing to hear: Parts shortage, Labor shortage, only allowed to do 2 per week, etc........is getting old. The first time I took it in for the bed step recall was 5/21/21 to I-20 Dodge Ram in Canton Tx INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

March 10,2023 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L Diesel I picked up my truck from the dealership this morning, after they did the outstanding CP4 fuel pump recall. I drove the vehicle home (approx 20) miles. Parked the car in the driveway for about 3 hours. Then took a short trip to the store. After the store, when leaving the parking lot I noticed an electrical/plastic smell. Within in seconds smoke started to come through the air vents. I pulled the truck over, turned off the truck, open the hood when fire exspelled from the engine compartment. Immediately call the fire department. They arrived in minutes to put out the fire, but at that point the whole front end of the truck was on fire and smoking (dense white/gray smoke). Then there was a loud burst of flame that came from the engine compartment. The fire worked its way into the cab compartment, burned it completely. The truck is totaled.

RE: "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA. This recall was issued in November 2022. My local dealer, Carson Dodge in Carson City, Nevada, will not honor the recall and will not fix my vehicle. I have repeatedly asked for the repair and keep getting blown off, telling me I'm on an indefinite waiting list. I insisted once to confirm I am on the waiting list and where I am at. I was told my car would be repaired in February 2023. February came and went and they still refuse to repair the car or provide a date when the repair might be possible. The fuel pump has now failed and the car has been dead in my driveway for a week and a half. I am without my primary means of transportation to get to work. Calls and emails to the service manager at Carson Dodge have been ignored and unanswered. I am reaching out to you to request assistance. The dealer will not fix the car and will not communicate with me. The car is non-operational now and will have to be towed. I desperately need my vehicle and I am respectfully requesting assistance with a recalcitrant dealership.

I have been having issues starting my truck when I took it in they said it was an ecu reflags needed. I believe it is an open recall y78 for over a year and they do not have the part. But my truck all of a sudden loss power on the freeway doing 65 my wife and daughter started crying I barely made it to the edge of the freeway with being hit within inches of a semi truck. We sat on the side of the freeway with trucks passing us shaking our truck from the wind. Finally I had to call Chp to have cars slow down when it became night time I fears for the safety of my wife and daughter. Yes the issue now is it won-??t start at all but they are telling me go somewhere else it could take 2-3 months to fix the issue. No one inspected it yet just that it wouldn-??t start. It was continuously having power surges but too light. Then all of a sudden loss power and it says service exhaust system see dealer.

We bought our truck in November 22, 2022, used certified pre-owned with 22135 miles, On 12/27/2022 message code came on water in fuel tank. 12/29/2022 dealership service helped us to drain fuel filters and cleared the code. 12/30/2022 same code came back. 1/8/2023. Truck broke down with a major total fuel system damaged. Parts were ordered, but repairs did not start yet. Everyone is trying to say it is a user error. We refilled DEF liquid correctly after which the gage showed was almost full. Dealership was blaming bad diesel was used, but as a consumer how in the world will i know which brand or company: they all are governed to sell proper diesel. We only drove about 3000 miles. There's no way possible for such to happen. Dealership told us ok to drive and keep refilling fresh diesel. We learned that there was already a recall for fuel system back in September of 2022. Supposedly if diligently and correctly it was taken care of, this same problem should have not come back at least for the next 10000+ miles. We only put on about 3000 miles from the date of purchase. Also according to inspection of dealership and service history, they also replaced fuel filters in October of 2022. Truck broke down even before our first payment was to be due. Currently our truck is not drivable and we are in 7 yrs loan. Absolutely ridiculous. There must of been a hidden tank leak that caused fuel contamination. Dealership where our truck is confirmed DEF liquid was mixed with diesel gas and a corrosion around some parts. Please help us! This is a nightmare. Thank you so much in advance!

I have been trying for a year to get my recall performed. When I go to the dealer they say there is no parts available and I should contact FCA Recall Assistance. When I call FCA Recall Assistance they say parts are available and that I should try a different dealer. I have tried 3 dealerships and no one will fix the recall. I can't even register the vehicle because in California recalls need to be performed for registration. I do not know who else to turn to.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to immediately start a few times and it took a few attempts before the vehicle started. The contact noticed a ticking noise and when accelerating and or decelerating a grinding noise would come form the engine compartment of the vehicle. The were no warning lights. The failure occurred intermittently. The approximate failure mileage was 39,239. Remedy not yet available or Parts distribution disconnect.

FCA recall Y78 NHTSA 21V-880 is open on my truck, states "fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause vehicle crash without prior warning" Contacted local dealer, was told no parts available contact FCA recall assistance. Was told there was nothing they could do, I am to drive my vehicle until parts are available despite my vehicle being unsafe for myself and other drivers. Refused to transfer me, then finally did transfer me to Delivin the highest supervisor at FCA recall dept. Was told same thing, drive until crash or until parts arrive. Was also advised I could pay for parts then get reimbursed (even though recall parts not available. Was told there was a separate department to call if I did get into a crash. Kept telling me to contact dealer. Finally, Devin hung up on me. Contacted dealer again was told nothing they could do, i should contact Chrysler corporate. Contacted corporate spoke to Nicolette she told me same thing, drive until crash or parts available. Told her I felt unsafe, vehicle was unsafe. She hung up on me. I called back, spoke to Laurie she was nice and helpful but nothing else she could do, said supervisor would call me back. This vehicle, as per the recall description, is unsafe and should not be driven. I have been told now by all FCA representatives that FCA wants me to continue to drive an unsafe vehicle. I have also been told I could "pay for the parts and get reimbursed" but that the recall parts were not available.

While traveling home with a toddler, the high pressure fuel pump failed. It left my vehicle with no power or ability to move under it-??s own power. It flashed a brief warning and then shut off, with no ability to restart. It left myself and my child stranded on the side of a busy byway. The dealership has confirmed that the issue was the high pressure fuel pump. Their remedy (at the direction of Ram) is to replace all necessary components, but to wash the fuel tank (instead of replace) and to reinstall the same make and model of fuel pump, that is know to be faulty. The 2019-??s have a recall with the only remedy being to replace with the original design. However, 2020 version (which are mechanically identical) also have a recall where they are being instructed to install an updated version of the high pressure fuel pump. This leaves me with faulty equipment that is known to be prone to failure, yet the 2020 versions are receiving a much better and not prone to failure solution.

I was driving home from the market and the truck slowed down to 16 mph. I could not go any faster. I pulled over to the middle of the street and turned the truck off for a minute. I then restarted it and attempted to drive it somewhere safe. The truck finally came to a stop right before an intersection. I had to get out because cars were coming fast. I was afraid someone was going to hit me. I called AAA right away. They told me the tow truck was on the way and that they would send the police. The police never showed up. The tow truck got there in about 15 minutes. The only information i have is the fuel system has a error code of P0087 and reads Fuelrail system pressure-too low. Check engine light is on, It did say something about the fuel system and the truck will not start. No one has looked at the truck yet. I will be calling the dealer this coming week to see about getting it checked out and having recall issues taken care of.
