I have NOT been on an accident or anything related, my complaint is about my car's current recall that the manufacturer cannot fix. My husband is military and we are currently stationed in Spain, the car has a recall to be fixed before shipment to the new duty station. As per the shipping rules, there cannot be any recalls active on the vehicle and we have done our part to contact the manufacturer both in Spain, United States and Puerto Rico (where the car was purchased originally). We are expected to ship the car in January 31st, 2024 from Spain to the new duty station which this matter has an urgency as it is the only car we have. I have done my part of contacting all Subaru manufacturers so someone can fix the issue before the ship out date, and even they say the manufacturer has no idea HOW they will fix the recall. We need help! The car is in perfect condition we have NOT have any issues with the related 'recall' as of today. Again, we are NOT in the United States but stationed in Spain for military purposes and we are expected to move out at the end of January, this matter has great urgency!

From: [XXX] Date: August 18, 2023 Subject: Complaint Against Subaru for Faulty and Poor Quality Windshield I am writing to file a complaint against Subaru for the faulty and poor-quality windshield in my 2017 Subaru Impreza. On August 18, 2023, while I was driving on I-35, a tiny speck hit my windshield. Within a few minutes of driving, the speck spread into a large crack. I immediately pulled over and contacted the nearest Subaru dealer. The dealer said that the windshield would need to be replaced, and the repair cost would be $1,500. I am concerned that Subaru is ignoring the poor quality of their windshields. I have done some research online, and I have found many other complaints from Subaru owners who have had similar experiences. In some cases, the windshields have shattered while the vehicles were being driven, putting drivers and other road users at risk. I am requesting that NHTSA take urgent action against Subaru. I believe that Subaru violates federal safety regulations by selling vehicles with defective windshields. I urge you to investigate this matter and take appropriate action to protect the safety of consumers. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The left front and right front halogen headlamp assemblies, containing the side reflex reflector and low beam reflector, may not fully meet requirements set forth in FMVSS No. 108 -?" Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment. At certain viewing angles, the left front and right front side reflex reflectors may not properly provide reflected light, which may lower the vehicle visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the left front halogen low beam reflector may not properly illuminate the roadway for the driver and/or may cause glare for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

I purchased this car in January 2021 from the Mechanicsburg Faulkner dealership in PA. It was previously owned by one person. I am the second owner. On May 5, 2021, as I was getting into my car to drive to work, I noticed a crack on the right side of my windshield. Upon closer inspection, the crack appeared to have started from the very edge of the lower part of the windshield. Nothing fell on my car as it is kept secured in our garage.

This is in regards to the Subaru windshield lawsuit. Sometime in late may of 2020, I found my parked car on the street outside my apartment with a crack that spanned over 12"on the front windshield. There was no sign of what caused the crack. Over the next few weeks the crack continued to grow across the windshield. I had it replaced July 7, 2020, at that time of it was over 24" long. I was told by my local window repair shop that Subaru had to be the ones to replace the windshield because they would be the ones that needed to recalibrate the computer system that connected to the windshield.

Windshield cowl buckles with wide gap. Dealer replaced the cowl and adjusted clips a handful of times and it still happens and that they see a lot of Imprezas that are "just like that". this is going to cause all kinds of water damage to the vehicle, severely reducing the vehicle's life and valud. It is also a safety hazard as the windshield is not fully sealed. This needs to be recalled and remedied by Subaru.

The wiper cowl cover separates from the windshield resulting in a gap between the cowl cover and the windshield. This gap allows an abnormal amount of water to flow inside, especially during heavy rainfall, snow, or carwash.

I had purchased a Subaru Impreza 2017 in June of 2017. Since leaving the parking lot with the car I've experienced all the info entertainment issues. I have a weird engine ticking noise. The vehicle will continue to accelerate. It has never gone out of control. However the 'forward' momentum/ inertia that's created by the engine doesn't disperse correctly thru the exhaust as it should. The vehicle is a 5 speed manual and if I don't shift down to neutral when stoping then I won't stop where I'm judging to. The car will feel as if it's sliding over the brakes. You also may have to power brake with the clutch as I do regularly. Since having all these issues. When ever I'd go to a dealer they would say some jargon about how if they have to turn a screw that's not a part of the part being fixed under warranty or a recall then that would have to be paid for. I was told I can have my car serviced but they don't know what they will have to do. Pretty much taking me for a ride of 'fear mongering' and saying put your hand on this table and let's play the knife game...poke! I would be put in a very tough situation with no guarantee. The dealer did this so they wouldn't have to do work and not get paid. Because they loose money as a dealer for recall work. They are not Subaru at all. All in all now I'm told to have my car taken to service for all the numerous recalls/lawsuits attached to my car. Even tho now I'm past my warranty (120,000). And there saying the same bs as they will charge for everything not associated to the effected parts. All necessary means to address the effected parts should be associated with the recall. I have been scamed. The whole time every issue was either under warranty or recall and they never honor it. If they do. They will fix whatever has a scratch and charge you saying it was required. It's all a game. They are con artists!!!

I purchased a used 2017 Subaru Impreza in April of 2020. The windshield has been broken twice since then. The online photos showed it with an intact windshield. When it was brought to my home for a test drive it had multiple cracks on the windshield and the dealer stated that they had to replace it when we purchased it as they were in the line of site for the driver and a safety hazard. After a few weeks of not driving the car other than to get groceries during covid the new windshield that the dealer had just replace cracked. There is no stone pit, it simply cracked on its own. This crack runs from the upper passenger corner for approximately 18' toward the middle and bottom of the windshield. It appears to either be stress or thermal related. Two windshield cracks that don't appear to be from a rock in a months time seem like a possible defect to me. The crack I noticed grow without recalling a specific incident that started it. The dealer is now trying to offer a 5 year crystal Fusion treatment and warranty for $995. Some online searching on this makes that seem like a scam at best. The disclaimer on the form states that they won't replace the windshield if breakage is part of a factory defect, which it is looking like they could state. I want to replace my windshield that is cracked, but would like some reassurance that it won't break nearly immediately again and would like Subaru or the dealer to stand behind these vehicles as this appears to be a widespread and systematic issue.

The first problem I had, related to the airbag system, was when the temperature began to heat up in the summer. The was parked outside in the sun all day and when I was going to leave work, I turned on the car and it gave me an error code related to the airbag system, and the airbag error light turned on. I called the dealer (this was 2 months after buying he car - May 2017) they told me to bring it in. I took the car to the dealer, they were not able to find the problem, they asked me to leave the car a couple days. After 4 they call and they stated they were not able to reproduce the problem (the temperature had cooled down those day), so I took the car home. A month later in June when it started to get really hot, one day coming back from lunch the error pops up. Without shutting the car down I took it to the dealer and they were able to read the error code - but they had no clue why it was coming up. Computer did not show any issues. So I left the car there again, and after a week they call that the found the problem, a bad sensor in the airbag system - the bad news is that the part would take a couple weeks to arrive. They ended up having the car for about 23 days before they were able to fix it. After they replaced that sensor I have not seen the problem again. The second problem happened 2 days ago (September) - while running on the highway, 90 degree day, about 45 mph, I had the air conditioner on sunroof closed but the shade open. All of a sudden I hear this loud bang and shattered glass starts to fall on me and I see even more through the rear view mirror. The sunroof exploded outwards. There was nothing inside the car, and the glass shattered outwards. I took the car to the dealer, they stated they had never seen this but they were going to try to take care of it given this should not happen. They are still working on it.

I purchased a 2017 Subaru Impreza limited on 7.30.17 from bob barker Subaru in carlsbad, ca. The car, until yesterday, had approximately 500 miles on the odometer. On 8.9.17 at 1830 my son was driving the car and his friend was in the passenger seat. The car was struck on the left front side by a Ford Fusion entering the intersection after the signal had changed. The airbags deployed. What happened next is unbelieveable!! my son reports that the smell of smoke caused him to awaken and scramble, with his friend, from the passenger side door and reach safety before the car was completely engulfed in flames. I do not understand how a frontal collision on a side street can cause a car to burst into an inferno. Please investigate this car's dangerous behavior in a rather ordinary collision. This incident did not result in loss of life or significant morbidity, but future drivers may not be so lucky. I would be happy to direct you to the towing company that has the car so you can investigate.

Eyesight disables it's self, radio volume stopped working, rearview camera disables it's self, car locked its self with engine running for 1 hour with both keys in my pocket while standing outside waiting for a tow truck. I purchased the 2017 Subaru Impreza sport on memorial day 2017. Since my purchase the vehicle has been returned to the dealer three times to fix these issues. The last issue regarding the self locking happened on 07/13/17. Subaru service department has addressed the previous concerns by stating and upgrading software updates to my vehicle but it seems like everytime the software gets updated a another issue comes up. My vehicle has a open case with Subaru tech and is now under review for buy back/replacement. This is my F first and last Subaru purchase. The consumer should not be Subaru's guinea pigs for their vehicles.

I did a test drive of the Subaru Impreza 2017 premium wagon at a seattle-area dealership. I noticed that the car door did not lock completely or opened by itself while the car was in motion. I noticed that I am not the only one who sees this safety issue. There are others who have reported the same or similar problem on Subaru owners forum. Here are two links to review to see this issue being discussed: www.impreza5.com/forum/9-2017-Impreza-general-discussion-forum/3281-Impreza-door-closing-only-when-slammed.html www.impreza5.com/forum/138-5th-gen-Impreza-issues-problems/2586-passenger-front-door-opens-itself.html I think this is a safety problem, because in my case the door was ajar or opened while I was on a freeway. This needs to be investigated and problem fixed before the problem manifests in either the driver, passenger or property being damaged.

We purchased a new Impreza on 2/4/17, within days of bringing the car home we noticed that all the radio presets had been wiped out, and the xm radio had reverted back to a trial period. That same day we received an email saying that our car was sending a problem code for the starlink system. Upon calling the dealership we spoke with a service adviser who owns the same car and she told us that she has all kinds of problems with the car software. Including backup camera, screen freezing, losing radio presets, clock time changing. And she indicated that this was a know issue with the vehicle model and she had been dealing with it for 2 months. She told us that she had been told Subaru had not idea how to fix it and maybe in may they might have it fixed. Upon being transferred to the sales manager, he hold us that Subaru had not put a stop sell order on the call so they kept selling them. We were never told about this defect prior to buying the car. Recent calls with Subaru have confirmed the problem, but nobody will call us back. We have put 3 miles on the car since we picked it up. We want to return the car to the dealership. We have been defrauded by Subaru. This was a know defect! Subaru customer service has confirmed that they have the issue. My starlink system which warns if in an accident, is sending out a problem code and it makes a loud noise when I try to connect. This is obviously related to the software issue. I am afraid to drive my car. We need your help in investigation this. Other unsuspecting buyers are getting duped every day.
