Shaking and shuddering at around 30-45 mph. This happens in traffic and feels unsafe. This is a know issue for these cars, but mine is not included in the recall - this must be an oversight or mistake.

I paid for a "Torque Converter Shudder, TSB U760E" repair. Toyota called this an "extended warranty" issue. I believe it should have been called a "recall". I did not recieve any notification of Toyota's extended warranty notice. Thus I put off the repair of the car. Unfortunately I had the car repaired after when the extended warranty expired, date and milage.

There is a problem with these vehicles made from 2012-2014. The car shakes and stutters at around the 40 MPH range. The shudder comes from the transmission, especially during the acceleration of the Camry models. It can be alarming for the driver and be a safety concern when the gears do not properly change during operation.

Vehicle has a shudder/torque converter issue. The vehicle loses power and shakes while driving at higher speeds eventually causing transmission failure. The vehicle had an extended safety bulletin which expired in 2022. The vehicle is not safe and Toyota will not make the necessary safety repairs.

I have had a vibration at different points of speed that would stop when you let off the gas or accelerate more. It doesn't do it beyond 60mph. I've had my vehicle in the dealership twice. 1st they told me my rear brakes were siezed to the rotors. I changed brakes, rotors, and shims on all wheels. Still didn't resolve the issue. Went into the dealership a 2nd time. They told me it was the right rear wheel bearing. I replaced that and still didn't resolve the issue. If Toyota can't figure out what is wrong with it, then who would? I can't afford to keep paying for a wrong diagnoses. I feel like my car will break down or even get into an accident because of this. There are no warning lights triggered when the vibrations happen. Please help me.

The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle was shuddering and shaking. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter clutch was faulty, and the software needed to be updated. There was a shudder at 35 MPH, and the transmission pan gasket was replaced, and the memory was reset. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The contact stated that the failure was related to the Warranty Enhancement Program: ZE5 Certain 2012-2014 Camry Extension of Warranty Coverage for U760E. The failure mileage was approximately 171,172.

I bought this car 2 weeks ago and now I'm learning of this Torque Converter problem. The used car dealership claimed that the car did not have any mechanical issues and upon test driving the issue wasn't apparent. However, no sooner than driving off the lot I notice the shutter. All of these dealerships kick the can down the road and does not fix this issue. There should be a recall on these models 2012 - 2014 to fix this issue as it is very expensive for the average driver. Toyota knew about this issue from 2012 and did not fix the problem. They will only fix it when they are forced.

The torque converter in the transmission fails to catch the clutch when I am driving at high or low speeds both in residential and on highway lanes. I can be driving 10 mph or 65 mph and the car will vibrate causing the car to slow, shake and shutter. In serious cases, the torque converter will slip out of gear or wont allow you to shift into a certain gear leaving you stuck and stranded on the road or highway if you don't make it to the side of the road/highway fast enough. This is a serious safety issue. The toyota dealership has recognized this issue and said that I will have to come out of pocket myself since I have missed the campaign warranty period. (someone previously owned the car) we have had the car for year and just noticed the shuttering and shaking last year. We just paid the car off last year. We are heartbroken and frustrated.

Certain toyota models between 2012-2014 had a defective software and torque converter which if left alone, will end up ruining your transmission. Toyota decided to extend the warranty to 150k miles or 8 years, whichever comes first to fix this issue instead of actually recalling every affected car and performing the software update + torque converter replacement. Dealers were instructed to only perform the fix to cars that were already exhibiting symptoms. This is problematic in my case because even though my car is only at 110k miles, the 8 hear period expired last year and I just started having issues with the powertrain. I would have been able to notice these issues earlier if we didn't have covid for the past 3 years, which changed my daily routine from being a constant commuter to working from home so less miles were put on my car. Now I'm stuck, as well as many others, with a 7k bill to fix a torque converter and transmission all because toyota did not care about their customers. This is also a safety issue as your transmission would just continue to get worse and possibly break entirely while driving

The car start showing signs of "brief shudder intermittently while driving under light loads between approximately 25 and 50 mph", as indicated on Toyota Service Bulletin T-SB-0034-14 (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2014/MC-10131827-9999.pdf) and T-SB-0312-17 (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10146516-9999.pdf), with Toyota's solution "The torque converter and Engine Control Module/ECM (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of this condition occurring. Follow the Repair Procedure below to address this condition." Today 5/1/23, I have taken the car (91,079 miles) to Toyota dealership, and the mechanic recommended "transmission replacement (automatic): complete transmission with torque converter & reset values to relearn new transmission and drivers driving habits: $6,888.17". I have called Toyota (800)-331-4331 explaining to Toyota representative the issue and referring to Toyota's service bulletin on this issue, with the hope the cost of the repair will be covered by Toyota, since this is a know issue for them. However, I was told that Toyota covered the warranty for this issue "until 10/21/2022 or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first". Therefore, since the date 10/21/2022 already passed, but the car having less than 150,00- miles (91,079 miles), Toyota representative told me Toyota will not cover the repair of this issue. Consequently, I am addressing this issue to NHTSA, with the hope that NHTSA can ask Toyota to cover the repair of this issue, by either making an exception or revise the warranty conditions (i.e., up to 150,000 miles, without date limit). Thank you.
