This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
We purchased the car brand new in 2010. We have started noticing that the clear coating has worn off on the roof of the car and now the paint is starting to crack. I worry that the paint will eventually wear off and the car will eventually start to rust. I am not sure who I should try to contact at Toyota to get this issue resolved as it seems to be a bigger issue then just my 2010 Corolla. Like other reviews that I have seen, our local dealership doesn't want to do anything about it. It seems to me that this should be a corporate issue.

9 year old Toyota, just worth noting. Being a Toyota I thought it should last longer. I see much older cars with better original paint on the road. I don't have anything more to say.

We bought 2010 TOYOTA SEDAN, white colour for my parents who are pensioners with very low income. One of the purpose of choosing Toyota was because we knew that Toyota is very reliable and strong car that can serve my parents needs for many years.
In 2017 we noticed the problem with the colour on the front part of the car. It’s important that this car didn’t have any accidents and the colour was original colour.
As off today, the problems with colour is all over the top and the front and back part of the car.
The paint is peeling off in sheets. We were told that this is a manufacturer fault for the paint.
Car looks like it’s an old car full of rust
I never assumed that Toyota can have such problems with the colour. My parents can’t buy another car, as they don’t have enough money. Will be great if my parents can get some help , at least to repaint the car

Cheap paint job, Toyota needs to repaint the hood or the whole car, It raises heck for resale of car. received one letter about the paint repair but never a fallow up to where to take it . getting tired of waiting for Toyota to do something.

Well thought i was getting a good car.. as far as the motor and car itself yeah but the airbags and the paint job.. well its a nightmare. makes me not even want to keep the car. i called the dealership and its my fault about the paint and the airbags. and they won't
help at all.

Not sure if they used cheap spray paint from Wal-mart on their cars, but my paint seems to be extremely thinly coated. Any little stone causes a chip. I'm surprised it doesn't chip easily.

I am a 71 year old grandmother. All my life I drove junky cars. I decided to get me a good vehicle, one that would last me the rest of my life. I seen this beautiful red Toyota Corolla and had always been told they last forever. This is the last car I would ever own. Bought it. I took care of this car as I would a baby. Wash and clean every week, Armour-all, park way out in parking lot so no one will hit me with their doors. With all the care I gave the paint started peeling off. The hood is almost no paint on it. aint is peeling off the back bumpers and doors. I know this was a cheap paint job. I never seen anything like it. Even the junk cars I drove did not do this.
I live on a fixed income I cannot go out and buy another car. Hell I cannot even pay for a paint job. Toyota should be ashamed of using paint that will not hold up. My hope is they will give me a new paint job. I was so proud of my Toyota, now I am so ashamed. I have never done anything to deserve this. Right now I only have 37000 miles on my car. Even if I could afford another car which I cannot I would not buy a Toyota. I know there must be more paint jobs out there. I would like to hear about them.
In closing I will say Toyota you can afford to paint my car, you are the only hope I have. Please consider doing the right thing and make an old lady happy again.

I bought my 2010 Toyota Corolla in September of 2010. A beautiful car that I was so proud to drive until I noticed the bubbling of the paint but of course after the warranty period.
I took the car in on May 8, 2016 to have Toyota look at it and I am still awaiting for a manager to call me. They were quick to give me an estimate of the cost of repainting the hood, front of the car and the two side mirrors. The car is well taken care of by my husband with oil changes and check-ups when required. The car is not even six years old and looks like it is about 15-20 years old instead. I had a Honda CRV for over 15 years and the paint never looked like this!
I have spoken to another Toyota Corolla owner who is having the same problem, but Toyota is not doing anything about it. We get excuses like its the environment where you park it. I've never heard of such garbage in all my life. If I could go back and keep my old Honda CRV until it died I would. The sad thing is that we have two other Toyotas in our family and I'm hoping they don't have problems with their paint as well.
I feel that Toyota is not backing up its product. The paint job on these cars is a disaster and I should not have to pay for it. I'm hoping that a class action suit can be started to get Toyota more responsible about taking care of its customers.
At this point, I am open to all and any suggestion to get this issue resolved.

The clear coat, as well as the paint itself, has began rapidly chipping. It began on the hood of the car, and has made its way to both fenders, and the bumper. It looks terrible! Although I have quite a bit of miles on my car, but still, a 2010 should not look as bad as it does. One of the chips have gone all the way to bare metal, and is about 3 inches long! There is no way to stop the chipping of paint. I called Toyota Customer Care, and all they suggested was going back to the dealership where I had purchased the car. They did absolutely nothing for me! You can see bubbling in the paint where it will soon begin to peel out. I am so upset about this. I take great care of my car and this is no where close to being considered "normal wear and tear".

The clear coat has started peeling this summer. Mostly on hood, roof and trunk...a little bit above the doors. We've kept the vehicle waxed. Took it to Toyota and they said they couldn't do anything and we would have to go somewhere to have the clear coat redone. The clear coat should last longer than 5 years, 80,000 miles. I would not call this normal wear and tear. I've never had this happen to any vehicle.

I have several places on the hood that chipped and now peeling. Some are the size of peas or bigger. This is bullshit. I didn't buy a newer car to drive around looking like I got parts for it from a junk yard. Toyota has totally disappointed me on this purchase and I will NEVER buy another one again. I will go back to buying Hyundai. Hyundai has better service all around anyway. I have bumper to bumper on the Toyota but from what I have read they will be falling off next. Which the front passenger side is coming loose already. STRAIGHT OUT PIECE OF SH*T

its too dark outside to take pics but if it lets me add it afterwards I will. Paint is peeling down the hood of my car. They told me it would be approx. 500 to repaint. it started with water forming underneath the coat of paint and bubbling out then peeling.. it has been spreading ever since! I had 2 Toyotas before this and NEVER had this problem. Dealer said there nothing they can do. I am so disappointed...

Not only would I never buy a Toyota again, but I would never buy from the Millennium dealership on any model they sell new or used.
I purchased my car at the end of 2009. It is a 2010 Toyota Corolla. Not even finished paying the car off and the paint is chipping and rusting on the roof. No indication of any damage by any means to the roof and with no field manager inspecting the car the decision was made by the service dept that they were not going to repair my car due to the fact that it was over "two years old" even though my warranty - the 3yr/36,000 miles, is still in effect.
They do not want to be bothered and they took the word of a field manager who never inspected the roof. They said it was the field manager who suggested it was "bird droppings" causing the rust. How the heck would the field manager know that when he never looked at the car? Of course the one service manager who jumped on the roof of the car and told my husband and daughter that it is was definitely "rust" and never said it was from "bird droppings." This car is garaged and not parked under trees. It was also inspected a few months ago at their dealership and no mention of any damage to the car was noted. It is too young to form this kind of rust from any environmental source. It is a poor paint job that is peeling away.
The mantra at Toyota is to use "bird droppings" to breach the warranty you have on the car. They can say what they want to about the car and the cause of damage but they cannot prove it with 100% certainty in a court of law – especially since there was no inspection by Toyota’s field manager. At Toyota, they stick together like a band of brothers and no one will go to bat for the customer. Not only was the one service manager very duplicitous and condescending to me, he never even bothered to answer my phone calls, avoiding me at every cost. Seems everyone wants to jump on you to sell you something but once something is wrong, no one wants to talk to you.
I would never recommend this dealership nor recommend buying a Toyota. My 1999 Plymouth Voyager is 10 years older and has NO rust and is parked outside. BUYER BEWARE! There is a reason why car salesman and dealership service dept's have bad reputations and are not the most trusted individuals on the planet.

I was so tired of having problems with cars i decided to buy a new one without problems, right,i was still in toyota parking in gresham when i noticed chipped paint on the hood... i asked if they could fix it and the car dealer told me to get paint and do myself... it wasn't covered...its been almost 2 years now and of course the chips have spread cuz of the cheap paint they used on these cars... makes sense, right! i started experiencing noises in the brakes when i came to a sharp stop at the bottom of my driveway.. i also was hearing noises in my engine.. new car, right! that was about 8 months ago,, engine noise, brake noise,,, still have that warranty,,, so what! i'm 61, have had alot of car problems in my life and i know a problem noise no matter where it is in a vehicle....also had a tire go flat on me 4 times... same tire... never replaced it, just kept fixing it... i kept track every time they rotated the tires... i have been in the many times for the same things without getting them fixed,,, i would wait at least 2 hours every time just for them to tell me it was nothing... even called toyota corp,,, he came to my defense as much as he could.... toyota on 122nd in portland, oregon was supposed to keep my car for 3 days, give me a complementary car and find the problem... suppose to drive it till they heard the noises... said i wouldn't have to wait again,,, wrong! i got there the car was suppose to be ready,,, wasn't, they didn't have a car for me... i think i used a car that belonged to an employee,,, it was dirty, really... and the tank was on E.. they just said i could bring it back dirty and on E.. made sense to me...they loaned me a nasty car, that was a crappy thing for them to do... they called me later and said they couldn't find a thing wrong...they did drive it..the engine noise can arise at any given time or when driven a bit.. the brakes can make that horrible noise off and on all day.. so since the day i bought this new corolla, chipped paint, bad, noises in the engine, horrifying noises in the front brakes.. my sister is afraid to ride with me.. sounds like it metal to metal or even worse sometime...this mechanic on 122nd put only 7 miles on my car to find the problem... they didn't listen to me when i told them they would have to really drive it to find the problem...they don't care...they do love it when i come for oil changes... that's where the money is for them...just found out after all this time how i can save 20.00..thing they were going to tell me...NO! I'm exhausted and am so tired of getting someone to care and fix my car before the warranty is up,,, but they'll find after the warranty's gone...guess i should have bought the honda......or maybe just another broken car,, paid 14000 and i still have a lemon....DON'T TRUST ANY OF THESE PEOPLE...they don't care about you..... they'll suck up to you for money,,, once they get your money your history..i've been told to go to another mechanic in gresham where i bought the car,,, more time spent to get something done that should have been done months ago... they should pay me for my time,,, then maybe they would think twice about me coming again and get the problem solved..i have no choice but to go to gresham... to bad we can't take it to someone of our choice,, but the warranty won't pay for that....

We have 2010 Toyota Corolla that has paint chipping/peeling from the panel under the passenger-side rear door. I had the same problem with a Chevy Berreta years ago and found out that Chevrolet had a recall on the primer; they repainted the whole car for free. I was wondering; does anyone knows of a recall?

Toyota is beyond helpful, they claim it is "mother natures" fault, paint that is chipping on the edge of the doors and trunk is NOT due to mother nature!

We purchased a new 2010 Toyota Corolla on July 23,2010. After owning the car for 49 days we noticed paint missing fom the trunk, roof and hood. This car is garage kept 24/7, and had only been out 14 days out of the 49 days we owned it. The mileage was 972 miles when the problem started. We contacted the dealership and they sent us to a bodyshop that they deal with. The bodyshop told us it was not caused by acid rain, and they felt there was something on the body prior to it being painted. The dealership had a Toyota representative examine the car. He determined it was acid rain and Toyota would not give us any help. We had two other bodyshops look at our car and they both said it was not caused by acid rain. We contacted Toyota's corporate office and they said the Toyota representative who made the acid rain determination COULD NOT be overuled. We went to arbitration and the arbitrator ruled against us because he felt we did not prove enough evidence against acid rain. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Years ago at around 60k miles, I'd say, the paint started to chip on the hood... And now the hood is almost all chipped and roof is dull, very worn... sides of car were fine.
I told dealer and they said tough, out of warranty.
It's mechanically fantastic but paint job is horrible.
