Prius Prime

  • 600 miles
The bluetooth phone system creates a very dangerous distracted driving condition because bluetooth phone calls do not repeat do not override the navigation system as they are supposed to do and like they do in my 2006 prius (VIN#: [xxx]). this issue was supposed to be fixed in the 2017 model year but Toyota still has not corrected it. This issue has been noted multiple times with Toyota and with the NHTSA. My wife's 2013 Lexus rx 450H (VIN#[xxx]) has been registered before and we rarely use the built in navigation now for safety concerns. My company's 2016 prius (VIN# [xxx]) was totaled in late 2016 and this issue was a contributing factor to my employee rear ending his parents and totaling the car. The replacement 2016 prius (VIN# [xxx]) was also involved in an accident although not totaled and again this distracted driving issue was a contributing factor, I believe. I purchased my new Prius prime (VIN# [xxx]) expecting to have this issue resolved and was told by Toyota it was now "selectable" but it is not!!!! with all the distracted driving issues prevalent on the roads to why Toyota would intentionally design a system to cause distracted driving is beyond me. This issue needs to be correct immediately. I believe this is a pure software issue and that is why I was told it would be fixed for the 2017 model year. It needs to be!!!! thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
