I heard about this issue on FB. The first 2 times I didn't realize there was a problem, and thought I misread the manual. However, after reading about it on FB I called my salesman. He said there wasn't a problem. Said it's all over the internet. His suggestion was to bring it in and they can look at it. However I'm reading they won't fix it because there's a class action suit. Irritating.

Toyota advertises the 2020 RAV4 Hybrids are equipped with 14.5 gallon fuel tanks, The Hybrid allegedly should get 41 miles per gallon for city driving, 38 mpg for highway driving and a combined 40 mpg. This should approximately provide a range of 580 miles on a tank of gas.
However, my RAV4 Hybrid cannot reach that range because when refueling, the gas pump nozzle automatically shuts off before the tank is close to being full. Adding 8 gallons of gas when the low fuel light is illuminated causes the fuel nozzle to shut off. Trying to add more fuel allegedly causes an overflow even though the tank should hold 14.5 gallons total.
When I checked with the dealer about the issue, they do not have any fix for this issue and they have said Toyota already knows about the issue.
I got pissed off because both the dealer and Toyota knows about the issue, but they hide this information from me while selling this car. I guess they cannot advertise fuel tank capacity as 14.5 gal, but what they are doing is unethical. I wish I get an option to return my car and get my money back.

My 2020 RAV4 hybrid I bought at the end of May this year 2020 has a issue with the fuel tank. The pump shuts off automatically about 200 miles from the tank being completely full on every fill up according to the fuel gauge. I found this problem has been reported by others and Toyota is aware but has no fix for it, but say they believe the problem is caused by the shape of the fuel tank.

Just pumped gas with my 2020 RAV4 hybrid, with the light on. I pumped up to 10.7 gallons and my fuel gauge reads full. Distance to empty is 505 miles. When is Toyota going to recall this?

I knew about the gas tank issue and specifically ask the salesman if it was still a problem. He told me he was unaware of any such issue with the 2020 Rav4 Hybrid.
I purchased the vehicle based on the salesman assurance that the problem was not present on the 2020's.

Fuel tank does not accept more than 7 gallons when empty (capacity is an advertised 14.5 gallons). Toyota is aware of the problem but has not committed to a resolution.

I bought the car under the impression that it was going to perform as impressive as advertised, at 41mpg city/38 hwy. After the initial full tanks, I noticed that the miles to empty started to get less, and less.. I fueled this morning, and it marked "419" miles to empty (as compared to "532" miles when I first bought it. I still remember it.). This morning I only drove close to 10 miles, and the miles to empty is now "370".
Driving was city driving and pretty normal. This is pretty distressing since I bought that car based on that promise, which seems to just be a lie. Very disappointing and it is making me very angry. I need to know what's going on, and I am ready to return this car. Please advise as to what avenues are available to correct this, or to just maybe return the car.
A distressed Toyota 2020 RAV 4 Hybrid buyer.
