Our 2021 vw id4 has serious issues. It-??s still getting addressed at the dealership and has been there since Tuesday. I had to have my husband come and pick me up because the car itself had indicated it was unsafe to drive. Please contact Jacksonville Nc Vw for our carfax report. I have detailed photos of the incident. We have purchased a second car partially bc of how many times we-??ve had to leave this one for extended periods of time. This car is 3 years old. I took the car on a short trip. A minor alert started. When I went to park the car flashed through multiple alerts and started an (artificial) engine noise revving. It specifically told me to stop driving it.

We have owned the ID.4 for there years and have had to put up with many recall issues that seam to take years in order to be resolved, it took VW over a year to resolve the random door opening issues, the car still sends messages the it is opening and closing the doors indiscriminately (at any time of the night or day). Now the infotainment screen started showing multiple errors, apple CarPlay works whenever it wants, on whatever phone it chooses, the screen goes blank frequently on its own, maps and car's GPS is useless, child lock errors, range calculations are erratic making it difficult to plan to trips. The over the air updates have seam to make the problem worse. Now we are waiting for another over the air update, the roll out has been extremely slow. Again it been three years and still no resolutions. We paid good money for this car, we were never late on a single payment. VW brought this vehicle to market without being properly tested, we have been paying money to Beta test a car for them and they have been allowed to slow walk repairs. The dealers cannot offer any solutions because VW of North America does not have any permanent solutions. The only solutions offered is trade in your car and we will sell you another car with less problems, of course if you trade in the car you loose thousand of dollars, if you sell the car you loose thousands of dollars, if you keep the car you have to deal with a Defective Vehicale and continue paying for it. How can this be allowed to continue. We need Help.

This car has had open recalls for over a year. No dealers in the area have been able to fix them. They claim Volkswagen cannot get them parts on time. They-??ve cancelled my service appointments multiple times. The car is now completely dead after a series of electrical faults and I-??m unable to get in the car at all. What if my daughter was in her car seat and I was unable to get into it"! The amount of issues I-??ve had with this car is insane. Constant faults including -??child safety lock-?? not working. This is 2021 leased brand new. The recalls started over a year ago and I haven-??t been able to get them fixed. Isn-??t there someone sort of SLA for when a recall needs to be repaired"

Additionally, the contact stated that the front passenger-??s side occupant air bag sensor warning was displayed and stated that the sensor was off, with an occupant seated in the seat. Car stopped without warning on six lane road in busy traffic. Display indicated electrical system failure. Vehicle would not re-start. Fortunately I was able to exit the vehicle and make it to the edge of the road but this was a very dangerous situation. Car was traveling between 30-40 mph at time. All active recall work had been performed per the dealership.

The screen showing the speed and the backup can stop working at any point leading to a crash and compliance issues. It's been several months and VW still has not come up with a solution for this recall and these cars are still on the streets, hence they are a major threat to consumer safety.

I got out of my car on Saturday, April 20th at a shopping mall 50 miles from my house. I parked and my screen told me that I had an over the air software update that I needed to install. I began installation of the update and parked and left my vehicle. I returned approximately 2 hours later and the car would not shift into drive. I had a yellow error message that said my cornering light was not functioning properly, but nothing referencing why my car wouldn't go into drive. I sat and tried to troubleshoot for another hour before calling roadside assistance. I was away from home, so they explained that they would only be able to tow it to a nearby dealership. It was after hours, nothing was open and it wouldn't be open until the following Monday. I paid almost 500 dollars to tow the vehicle to my house and then paid another 100 dollars through AAA to tow it to the dealership on Monday morning. Since then, my car has been at the service center and has not been repaired. They gave me a loaner but it's been almost 30 days and no resolution. I have been told that the issue was related to a known recall. I contacted VW to discuss a Towing reimbursement and was informed that VW would not be covering the expenses for either Tow event even though the first was completed under their Roadside assistance program.

The contact owned a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated that while driving on a highway at a moderate speed, traffic came to a sudden halt. The vehicle's forward avoidance collision feature was activated; however, the feature did not perform at full capacity and hesitated to fully stop. The contact repeatedly pumped the brake pedal; however, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into the vehicle ahead which resulted in a five-vehicle accident. An unknown red warning light appeared on the instrument panel during the failure. The air bags deployed upon impact. Upon air bag deployment, the contact sustained burns to the left thumb and chest; additionally, the contact experienced soreness to the cervical spine, neck, both knees and ankles. The driver of the vehicle which the contact directly hit also sustained a sore neck but neither driver sought medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. Before the accident, the contact stated that a software update was performed on the vehicle which changed the vehicle's driving performance. The contact also noted that while driving at 70 MPH after the software update was performed, the vehicle independently accelerated without depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact was not certain if any warning lights appeared on the instrument panel during the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

These recalls are old: February 7, May 5, and August 25 of last year. My local dealership, Hansel Volkswagen, 2951 Corby Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 (1-707-578-1320), is unable to get the parts for these repairs from VW of America, even though WV of America is steadily building new cars. My 2021 ID4 is still not repaired.

Intermittent problem since purchasing the car in September 2021: if child safety lock is engaged when parking the car and the doors are otherwise unlocked, upon exiting the car, the rear doors will not open from the outside. Clicking unlock on the key FOB won't unlock the doors. I need to power the car on again and deactivate the lock from within the car. Earliest occurrence was in October 2021.

For fuse function, location and value, the owners manual has incorrect information which is worse than no information at all. This creates a safety and fire hazard in cases where higher amperage fuses can be placed in lower amperage circuits. The fuse panel cover is also deficient with no information about fuse function, location or value. The implication is that in time of need, an operator is unable to locate and replace a fuse to make the vehicles safety and operating systems functional. Worse yet, if a fuse is replaced it can be the wrong value creating a fire hazard or compromising the vehicles wiring and safety systems. I have called VW corporate customer service twice and explained how my safety is being compromised. VW will not take action. No solution offered. No effort.

The entire electrical panel went blank with no way to reset onsite. Had to drive to car without being able to see the speedometer or anything else. After getting to location and leaving the car for an hour, it reset itself. The car's Infotainment often goes out and can be rebooted by me. Used to think this part was normal but I don't think it is based on how often I have to do it. Car also has surged when driving, i.e. driving and it suddenly slows down then recovers back to normal speed. Finally, backup camera detects things that are not there and slams on breaks which is jarring to the car occupants. VW has tried unsuccessfully to repair and are "unable to replicate" the black out and the backup camera. The surge is new and not yet been looked at by them. However, I have very little faith they will be able to "replicate" that either since it has only happened twice.
