The doors still don't work properly. They do not close. It happens randomly. It is usually when I drive out of the parking spot or back out so going slow. The rear passenger door opens randomly without warning. I've taken it to three dealerships but they haven't been able to replicate it while the car is there for service so they just send me back or don't even check in the car. I first complained about this the day after I bought it but still nothing

I have an open recall on my vehicle. It is related to software defect that can affect the dashboard display that can affect the rear view camera. Currently, no remedy available. However, my main source of income comes from the ride share program. I won-??t be able to earn income if my vehicle is not available. The manufacturers repeats -??no remedy at this point. Need to wait.-?? It-??s very difficult to just wait without timeframe of when it will be available for fixing it. It-??s almost a month since the recall was placed. I was halfway into a parking stall. There was a cement sign post at the end of the stall and a truck facing me opposite. About six feet from the post the car accelerated and glanced off the post and hit the truck slightly. It happened very fast but I am 99% sure the car accelerated on its own. We did a search afterwards and found many reports of our model doing similar things.

Preconditions: Phone was connected to Infotainment via Wireless Android Auto and reproducing content from the phone. A/C was on fan. Driving on congested highway at around 35 MPH with stop and go segments. Incident: Answered a phone call by pressing answer on infotainment and took the handsfree phone call. Conversation had been ongoing for maybe 10 minutes. Then I noticed I was not being heard by the other party. Hung up. Party called again and the same thing happened. In a stopped segment I placed the call. Noticed same issue. Then I looked up and the center infotainment screen was black. I then pressed the power button for 10 seconds to reset the infotainment. At that point the driver information screen ( what replaces the instrument cluster) had a somewhat different color scheme. At this point I decided to turn off all ACC functions (were not in use, just on). Suddenly this screen (driver information) turned off - no indications of ACC, Speed, etc. were available. Only the basic drive mode indicators were on showing I was in drive (this part seems independent). No negative effects to the drive were noticed ( I could accelerate, stop and steer). Some minutes later the entire system rebooted and all indications were back. Some warnings about driver assistance disabled were shown on the driver information screen. I have seen some center infotainment resets in the past, but having the driver information screen (or instrument cluster) turn off like that I find extremely unnerving and dangerous. Fortunately basic drive function was unaffected and safety seemed fine.

I submitted a previous report regarding my passenger front door attempting to open while the vehicle was in motion. Yesterday the door fully opened under motion with my wife as a passenger. It sounds like the latch kept cycling until the door opened. My wife just prior to departure decided to start video recording while driving as we both believed the dealer may not be able to replicate the incidents. We have recording of this we can email. The door does attempt to open several times on some days, some days it doesn't. My vehicle according to the dealer is not a part of the affected vin's for the recall. It has not been back to the dealer for evaluation and repair yet. This has become an extremely dangerous situation as an owner or passenger.

Driver-side door opens and closes by itself while driving or when the car is stopped. Driver-side door also locks and unlocks itself while driving or when the car is stopped. Unable to unlock driver-side door from the outside of the car. Some times the driver side door will not open from the inside all the way. Before, this was just a frustrating inconvenience, but yesterday, it became a scary, safety hazard. I was stopped in the middle of the street during peak hour traffic at a green light unable to start my car because the driver-side door had opened itself, but I could not open the door all the way to close it and the car would not let me start because it thought the door was open. Even after I was finally able to open my door and tried to close it, the car still would not start. I had to try repeatedly to start the car back up before it finally started. This happened for several minutes while I had my small children in the backseat and other cars were honking around us and nearly hit us. I have told the dealership and taken the car to get serviced, but the part to fix the door is back ordered with an unknown delivery date. The dealership says that many of their 2023 ID.4 customers are facing the same door issue and they've reported their frustrations with VW headquarters. This needs to be investigated and VW should issue a formal recall.

After leaving a stop sign and making a right turn I heard what sounded like a clunk with an audible tone. This was followed by the interior lights turning on and a red door open symbol on the dashboard display (see attached photo). A few hundred feet later I parked my car at work and took photos of the passenger front door ajar as if attempting to unlatch while in motion. I read of a recall (campaign number 23V312) for 2021 -2022 Volkswagen ID4's for this issue. My dealer stated my vehicle is not included in the recall though it's having the same issue. I'm scheduling a service visit in soon.

Center console spontaneously shuts down while driving. After about 3 min, the system reboots, but temporarily the driver console also disappears and the speedometer cannot be seen. A warning that lane assist is not available is shown. The backup rear view cannot be used during the downtime. In this car, this happened three times over a 4 month period with about 2000 total miles driven. In a previous instance in a different ID4, braking was also impacted and additional error messages appeared temporarily.

The backup camera flickers intermittently on the system. The unit has been in for repairs 2 times for this issue, with the camera unit being replaced once. The system continues to flicker intermittently with a rough correlation to having direct sunlight on the back of the vehicle.

When I am parking at 5mph in a medical center parking structure, the car suddenly got an uncontrollable acceleration that hit the parking cement and hit the wall in front of the parking area. I cannot imagine that if it is not in the parking structure with 5 mph, it will be fatal or injured and hit more people and cars on the freeway. I want a safe vehicle and spent over $55K for my daily chore. I lost confident on an electric vehicle, and hope your agency will iron all these out prior to introduce to the public. It is similar to the following case: An owner from Georgia describes what happened after getting into the ID.4, putting a foot on the brake, and then putting it into gear. -??The car jumped forward and I had to press brakes with all my strength to keep it from accelerating to full -??throttle.-?? It did the exact same when I put it in reverse. I turned the car off, got out, gave it a couple of minutes, and tried two more times. It did the same thing every time. -??It is like the accelerator is pressed to the floor as soon as you put it in gear without you touching it. I almost hit my house due to the wheels being turned before the first try.-?? Having had the car for only two weeks, -??I called a tow truck to take it to the dealer.-??

Outside drivers side door handle stops working intermittently. Had to lower windows and use inside handle to open door. Also, driver side door randomly latches and unlatches without any interaction with the handle. Twice happened while turning at low speeds causing door to swing open, once in driveway causing door to hit house.

Driver car door intermittently pops open, while driving, when stopped, and when parked (not occupied). Car door locks intermittently stop working, meaning passengers cannot enter from outside, cannot open door from inside, doors do not unlock when key fob approaches. Also when this is happening, charge port shorts ie. disconnects/connects. When these issues are happening, defogger runs intermittently when parked, unless I enter car to manually turn off heating system. Turning off defogger with app does not stop defogging even when it says "off" in app. Seems tons of water is down in door... If the car is dry, if I roll the windows down then up, windows are COVERED with water. At times, front windows go down when trying to roll them up. Not safety, but internal ambient lighting system has two colors, one for dash, one for door lights. Door light color selection does not work, and doors only will show color of dash color selection.

Despite the fact that the pedal was not fully released, the vehicle accelerated forward, colliding with another vehicle at an approximate speed of 40-50 MPH. Shockingly, neither the airbags deployed nor did the safety automatic braking system engage. The incident raised significant safety concerns, especially considering similar reports from other VW ID 4 owners. Actions Taken: I promptly took the vehicle to VW Marin Dealership in San Rafael, CA, where their report claimed no issues with the vehicle. However, further research on my part revealed that this issue is prevalent among VW ID 4 models from 2021 to 2023. Attached to this letter, you will find pictures of both vehicles involved in the incident for your reference. Request for Investigation: I urge the NHTSA to thoroughly investigate this safety issue with VW ID 4 models from 2021-2023. Since I purchased the car I had had difficulty with unlocking and locking the doors intermittently but had not yet had it looked by the dealer. I had the front passenger door repaired/replaced recently, and shortly after that the doors started randomly opening. For example, the trunk opened when I walked up to it, or the front drivers side door opened (not fully but partially, so still shut) while I was at the playground with the kids (I received a notification on my VW app that the door was open after we had been parked for quite a while. This progressed to the driver side door no longer locking. I decided the car was unsafe to drive when the drivers side front door opened while the car was in drive while I was stopped at a stop sign - so it started opening while I was operating the vehicle. Again, the door didn-??t fully open, but I had to open the door fully to close it. I know VW recalled this car in the summer for this very reason, it seems like their fix either didn-??t work or somehow was undone when the car was repaired.

20122 miles 7/31/2023 -?" Infotainment screen would reboot at random. I was also receiving the 12V battery message still and the electrical system error Dropped vehicle off at AutoNation VW for the 20000-mile service. Mark Daddario said that sometimes it-??s how the customer drives the EV-??s that makes the errors come up but couldn-??t tell me anyway I was driving it incorrectly. I left the vehicle asking them to perform the maintenance, perform the door handle recall, and replace the flat tire under my VW Care tire protection plan. I left the vehicle with them for several days while I was out of town. Upon picking up the vehicle Chris Guilkey told me everything was performed, but the system was down so they couldn-??t give me any paperwork. He handed me the key and pointed to my vehicle which was returned to me with 17% charge. Shortly after leaving the dealership the vehicle performed a thud and shut down. After waiting a few minutes, it restarted again. I drove back to the dealership and Chris didn-??t see any errors on the screen so told me everything should be fine.

The vehicle does not get 275 range fully charged as window sticker states. New vehicle with 600 miles on it only gets 242 range when fully charged. The vehicle is over stated to boost sales. You cannot lock the vehicle in any way, shape, or form unless you have the key fob. if you forget to lock your car, you cannot ask someone to lock it for you without a key. The car cannot be locked from interior door like a traditional door. Huge safety issue. To make it worse, the vehicle cannot be locked from the App like Volkswagen advertised. Scam all around.

When I put drivers and passengers front window down part way and stop it and use the window control to put the window back up it goes down not up. Window has to go all the way down before it will go back up. I also have a loner ID.4 that does the same thing. I also seen the same complaint on the Volkswagen owner forum. Talk to dealer and they said they would look at it. I own a 2021 VW ID.4 and that didn-??t happen in that car. I think if I push the windows control that should put window up then it should go up not down.
