XC90

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

The upgrade to Autopilot 2 is a charged "accessory" of approx. $300-400. Numerous times on trips the auto pilot faulted and was unable to be used.

XC90

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I was driving at approximately 45 mph. Out of nowhere, the car stopped and seat belts engaged.

VERY scary! Could have been deadly had someone hit us from behind. I have lost all confidence in this car especially reading the other similar experiences.

XC90 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15,568 miles

I was driving down the road at 60 MPH with the adaptive cruise on a two lane road. Suddenly, without warning, my brakes slammed on my car, my seat belt engaged, red dots appeared in my windshield and an alarm went off. There was nothing that crossed in front of my car. No one was coming in the opposite direction nor was anyone behind me. I had someone in my car and she couldn't believe what happened. This could have been deadly if someone was behind me as there would be no way they could have stopped. I was afraid to continue driving it, but was still two hours from home. This is very dangerous and I am calling the dealer in the morning. It could be a deathtrap.

XC90 Momentum V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,000 miles

My XC90 "Auto Braking" function has applied at least three times with no cars or obstacles in front of it. Once at 65mph on an interstate, Once at 50mph on an interstate and once at 30mph in town. It is currently at the Volvo dealers being investigated and had been there for over two weeks now. I consider this an extreme safety hazard as we already had one car behind us have to avoid us, we may not be so lucky in the future. I would be interested if anyone has seen this and had it fixed.

XC90 Inscription V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50 miles

The "auto braking" feature for collision avoidance brakes without any other car or object in the area. This has happened 6 times now since new 4 months ago. The warning lights on the dash illuminate, the audible tone activates, and the brakes are applied when there are no visible objects in the vehicles path. This happens on a random basis and in the past 10 days it has activated 3 times. As of the typing of this complaint the car was taken into the dealership on Friday and they asked to keep it over the weekend for a higher level service employee to look at it on Monday. So far my car has been in the shop 5 days with no current resolution to the problem. This is a 2016 XC90 Inscription package Vovlo.

XC90 Inscription V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 900 miles

Auto braking warning lights and brake applied at random times. Has happened 6 times since purchasing new now with only 5K miles on vehicle. Has happened several times with no other vehicles in sight. Currently in shop for second time now with extended stay trying to troubleshoot. Office colleague has same car and same problem. Not an isolated issue.
