Hello my name is [xxx] and I a single mother of two small children. I have been the owner of a Dodge Journey for a little over a year and I have already received two recalls on my vehicle. With these risks come serious consequences and I do not feel safe driving my children in this vehicle. I have contacted the dealership and they told me they are unable to provide me with a loaner vehicle. At this time I am highly upset because basically I have to play russian roulette with mine and my children's live every time I drive my only mode of transportation. I do not think it is appropriate for a company to knowingly allow anyone especially children to drive around in a defective vehicle that can at any given moment cause serious injury or even death without providing an alternative until the problem can be fixed. I am very upset and am considering looking into getting a lawyer to defend my rights as a consumer. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The vehicle is unsafe due to the lack of power when climbing hills with anymore than 3 persons. It is a 7 person vehicle. It is also sluggish when 3 or more persons getting in and out of traffic situations. Example excellerating onto onramps. Took the vehicle to the mountains and the engine lite kept coming on saying oil extremely hot, you will loose power, and I did. I have haden it to sahara Dodge, took it for a drive to the same area with the service supervisor and he saw exactly what I was talking about. He never documented his findings and left the dealership 2 days later closing my star account. A new manager tony supposedly took it for a test drive, lied saying a Chrysler rep. W/ the star account went with them for the test drive, when in fact he never went. They sahara Dodge are now closing the account and refuse to address the safety issues any longer.

One of the biggest problem is the back doors not locking when in drive like they use to. My sons door didn't lock like normal (inside door child lock was locked too) but worse of all my car didn't even show that the door was open in the back and I didn't hear him fall out and it open and he fell out while driving, my check engine has been on and my outside temp on car dash reads 185 all the time, it loses power while driving, the radio also turns volume up and down and channels changes by itself. My wipes back and front sometimes go and don't turn off. My right fender is no longer on the car because when I got a flat aaa lifted the car from the under carriage and the fender just came off on one side like bolts weren't even place on there I bought this car for safety for myself and kids and this car is not safe and Dodge won't help and I'm very upside down on it, im a recently divorced mom waiting for disability for my back. I can't afford to trade it with more money down. I paid a down 6500 and pay 400. Per month and never thought I would have to worry that my kid would fall out while child lock was on and when the doors should lock, . now this new recall with the engine makes me worried to drive my three kids to school or anywhere for that matter.
