Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • 172,000 miles
On August 5 and 6th the vehicle lost power while I was operating it with my children inside in the middle of traffic. I researched the problem and found that there are many complaints online. I called a dealership and was told that there is soon to be one if not yet. I am very much afraid for my family being that this is the only vehicle I own and is a single parent and need my vehicle. I also called the Chrysler corporate office and was told that there is nothing that they can do for me unless they had more complaints in there database. I mention what the dealership said and what I researched online. I think that this is a very serious complaint and someone need to move quickly.

My 05 Ram 1500 has now stalled out twice in the 2 months I have had it. The first time I was stuck in rush hour traffic so I was at a stand still but now this time I was turning into a school and the truck stalled and steering wheel locked...I almost hit 2 teachers because of this...the lights and radio was still on though..this is a major problem that needs attention before someone gets seriously hurt..

Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,000 miles
Truck stalls daily. Only stalls when coming to a stop. Once completely stopped the tachometer jolts up and down, making the truck lurch forward, and will sometimes stall completely. Does not happen while driving, or at low speeds, only at complete stop and in drive. If in neutral this does not happen. This is unsafe to lose control of your truck and at times it lurches forward trying to get the correct RPM. I have seen all over the internet how widespread this problem is and Dodge has done nothing about it. Many times I have seen where this has occurred to people while driving! this is an automatic transmission, everything checks out fine except this, it has to be a computer problem and needs replaced. I see often where people change many parts, sometimes helping but usually not.

For some reason my truck just stalls out when making a right hand turn or left hand turn or if you slow below 5 mph and try to turn the engine just shuts down and Dodge acts like its just me. I feel this is a accident waiting to happen lets take care of the issue before someone dies. I paid 35,000 dollars for this truck and it shouldn't be a lemon even if the tranny has been rebuilt 3 times already. But there is something going on and Dodge needs to fix it at there cost not ours.

When I slow down, and specifically turn the wheel in either direction, my Dodge will randomly stall. The radio will stay on and the only way I know the truck has stalled is because I am not going anywhere. Once I put it in neutral it starts right up and takes off. This is extremely dangerous and has almost caused accidents. Took it to my local Dodge dealership and they have no clue what it could be as they were "unable to duplicate" the problem.

Ram 1500

  • 64,000 miles
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, and have had an issue that started as just a starting problem, it would take a few tries to start the truck; and no dealer or private mechanic could tell me what was the problem, even though there was an engine light on. The problem recently got more severe, and dangerous, I was driving to work and after finally starting and driving for a few miles, the engine just turned off; right in the middle of the road, no brakes, no engine, no steering....the key was turned in the on position and the air and radio was still working but the engine was off; upon searching for a solution to this problem online, I came upon a link that the NHTSA was looking into the matter, because this problem seems to be fairly widespread based on an internet search, so I thought I would send this in to see if there was any new info, or if there could be a solution to this dangerous issue. Thanks.

Ram 1500

  • 60,000 miles
2005 Dodge Ram hemi pickup truck. Slowing from 35 mph to take a significant corner when I discover there is no steering to speak of (strongman steering only). I barely make the corner almost hitting a newly renovated church. My next inclination is to pull the truck over and stop and I experience minimal to no brakes with maximum effort. No sensation that it had stalled and no indication on the panel indicator lights. I had the radio of and the fan on low with only road noise and I had no idea the engine had stalled. I've been driving safely for 33 years and this tops the list of freaky incidents and sensations (tops losing a wheel). Turned the ignition off and then back on and the truck started like nothing had happened. Drove the truck straight to the local garage. I'm concerned about the incident (very dangerous) and the fact that there are so many similar complaints about this situation online that relate to the hemi pickups. This could easily cause major accidents to innocent, unknowing people and families.

Ram 1500 8-cyl

  • 34,000 miles
I like many others have a problem with my Dodge 1500 stalling after accelerating or while turning. I bought the truck 2 1/2 years ago with 34000 miles on it and it started doing it right away...probably why the previous owner got rid of it :) yesterday, it left me alongside the road in a terrible rain storm on my way to pick my son up from school. I have taken this 2005 Dodge 1500 out on the air force base for hunting and when we came back to the check station (very rough roads-washboards, potholes, deepsand, etc) my engine was revving up and down. When I got onto the interstate to come home the cruise would not engage, I opened the hood and pressed on all the injector and plug wires and the truck ran smooth and the cruise started working again. Things were fine for a few weeks but then it started stalling/cutting out again. I pressed on the wires and things were fine again. Now yesterday, it stalled coming into a turn. I put it in neutral and it started back up. I went through two stop signs with no problems but when I got up to speed and went about 1 miles, the check gauges light came on. I looked and it says I was running hot. So I pulled over and turned on the heater"the heater blew cold because I haven"T gone far enough for it to heat up yet so I turned the engine off. I sat there for about 5 mins and turn the key until the gauges came on but did not start the engine. It said my engine was just off the cold mark and the check gauges light was gone. I drove the truck home without any further problems. The stalling problem is dangerous since I never know when it will happen and it has happened several times while taking a sharp corner on my street. Dodge, please fix this problem. It could be as simple as a connector wiggling loose.

The truck will idle then rev up, idle then rev up upon a cold start. Engine loses power during low speed turns and sometimes upon slowing to a stop. When engine power is lost, there is no power steering or brakes and can very easily cause a crash.

This incident has now happened more than once and I am quite concerned. As I drive my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 hemi, it stalls on me without warning. Prior to this the svc engine light would come on. I took it in to autozone w/a registered egr sensor, valve, etc. I replaced the valve, cleaned out the throttle. The light went away after this fix. But as I stated, as I drive the vehicle it continues to shut off w/no notice at all. I thought to prompt an investigation as all of my online findings would indicate the exact same problem.
