Brake booster. Without warning the brake pedal on my vehicle became extremely hard during the middle of my drive. I was in a yield to merge situation where I could not stop my vehicle in the proper amount of time. Luckily I was not involved in an accident. The part on my vehicle needing replaced is the same part under recall for the same manufacturer but my VIN number was not included in that recall. I am upset that this problem was previously detected but my VIN number was not included on the recall and I had no previous knowledge that this could potentially be a safety hazard for my vehicle.

I was driving in the city and as I slowed coming to a stop light I pressed the brake and it was hard and wasn't stopping. I got it stopped. I headed home and a car was suddenly stopping in front of me, I stepped on the pedal and it went to the floorboard I had to pump to get it to catch I had to swerve into the next lane to avoid an accident. As I pulled into driveway and pressed on brake if hissed and chirped, this is very dangerous, I only have 66,000 miles on my car. Why has Ford not been recalled on this matter from all the complaint out there about this all the way back to 2007? my husband is a car guy and he said it was the brake booster failing. Descriptions from other complaints and mechanical information comfirmed it. Along with Ford attempt to minimize the large problem on all Edge vehicles with an extended warranty on the brake booster on some vehicles # 13no2 and in complaints on this site.

Known issue customer satisfaction program 13N02 for failed brake booster. Ours failed and Ford states it is not covered. Car is under 10 years old and under 150,000 miles. Their own program states these brake boosters fail on this make, model and year yet they get away without fixing it due to my VIN falling outside the covered vehicles. Not sure how a known safety issue like this that leads to unsafe driving while the problem develops and is realized is not mandated into a recall. It is slightly noticable at first so we kept driving the vehicle. After a number of close calls due to the brakes not applying when pressing the brake pedal, we took it in to North country Ford in coon rapids mn and they confirmed the brake booster needs to be replaced.

Front brakes hiss and make singing squeal...do not depress fully then go all the way to the floor. Almost hit 5 cars but each time steered off right and ended up mid intersection on a red light. Heard it is a power booster issue. Also air bags were recalled. Dealer says no.

When vehicle brake pedal depresses it makes a hissing noise. Can push straight to the floor or at other times is so tight you can barely press it. Told by mechanic it's the brake booster and no recall as of yet. Vehicle is very hard to stop if a situation presented itself to brake quickly it could not happen and may cause an accident.

My Ford Edge brakes are frequently hard to apply, like the booster is not working, then they suddenly apply as if the booster has started working. Thisisvery unsafe to drive because it's sudden and unexpected. Also the normal two or three booster applications that normally apply do not work. I called wittmeir Ford in chico and they said my VIN # was not covered under the extended warming.
