Brake pedal is soft, sometimes goes all the way to the floor and makes a hissing sound. Some break function is lost. We had new brake pads and rotors, and the problem persists. Our mechanic tells us that it is the brake booster. Safety is now a great concern as it is now compromised. Occurs when the vehicle is in motion, regardless of location on city street, highway, or turning.

Brake booster. I have a 2010 Edge that had a recall on the brake booster. The Ford website listed the recall for 2010-2013 but for some reason my vehicle wasn't part of the recall and I need to know why especially when it states that fsa VIN list will not be activated for the service action. This was a very dangerous situation I was put in and I'm being told that the recall is not on my VIN. My brakes made a "hissing" sound when pressed and to get the car to stop I had to press very hard with both feet. And this didn't happen over time. Within a week my car went from braking normally to having to fight to stop my car.

On 12/11/17 my brakes were making a air sound when I touched peddle. At 47,000 miles I assumed it was time to replace. On 12/15 I had brakes replaced, but when I got the car back it still had the air sound. The brakes work but sometimes the peddle goes all the way down and catches at last minute. Now I'm told Ford Edge has a problem with brake boosters and main cylinder. There hasn't been a recall yet, but I am sure people don't notify anyone about this problem. The garage just sent me on my way knowing the problem and also knowing the brakes could fail! I will be taking my vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer to see what they can do. This is just to inform you of the serious problem which could cause accidents or even deaths.

Brake vacuum booster. I was told by my mechanic that my brake vacuum booster is going bad. I called Ford and it is not covered under the current recall. My vehicle was built at the Oakville assembly plant on March 26, 2010, a little over a month before the recall date perimeters of May 3, 2010 through March 28, 2013. When applying the brakes, there is a whistling noise under the dashboard, the brakes get rock hard and then sink to the floor.

Brake pedal at times feels spongy and goes to the floor, other times it is as hard as a brick and very difficult to stop. Hissing sound is present and noticeable. Unbelievably dangerous and I can't believe this isn't a safety recall. I have come close to rear ending people due to this flaw. 1st noticed this while driving and coming to a stop. Had to really press hard to stop and it was unexpected and almost caused me to rear end the car in front of me.

Brake booster has failed, and now engine won't idle properly and stalls due to vacuum leak from the bad brake booster. I had reported symptoms (hissing, occasional hard pedal, etc.) during service visits while my "bumper to bumper" warranty was still in effect, but was told it was "noise from the new brake pads" and it just needed the brake fluid topped off. Symptoms persisted, but then service bulletin 13N02 was announced, and because my car was manufactured 2 months before the dates covered in the service bulletin the dealership has still refused to cover the costs. So I now have a 2010 Edge that is not only hard to stop, but also now stalls out when it does stop!

While driving on the Florida turnpike, when I applied the brakes to slow the vehicle the pedal was hard, and I had to push the brake very hard to slow the vehicle, pines Ford inform me it was the booster and that Ford had extended coverage on that problem on 2010 Edge but for some reason only known to Ford our vehicle was not included, after researching I learned this is a common problem with this model, my question is why is there not a recall. Like always our government needs a body count before they act in the interest of the citizens of America.

I left the gym I was on a city street and when I pressing on the brake, my vehicle was still moving. Brake pedal was really hard to pressed down. I put a lot of force on the pedal just to slow down before I hit the vehicle in front of me. I put in my VIN number to to see if my Ford Edge was on the recall list for this incident but nothing showed up. Except for complaints from other Ford Edge drivers saying it did not get fix because of the VIN number. I just wondering why it is not. I'm a veteran who has ptsd from a car crash and just want the company to honor what they say. Thanks

My power booster for brakes failed. There was a bulletin for my make and model however Ford claimed that because it was made at another plant it did not fit the criteria. It had the same issues as the vehicles made in the other plant, I fail to understand how they can cover it from one location and not another. The car only has 107K miles and is 7 years old. Their bulletin covered 150K miles or 10 years making me believe since we came under all of that it is a defect issue.
