2 main on going issues 1. brakes- from day one, constantly-needing to be re rotored / new pads / grinding squeaky sounds - all the time. Ford blames me for ' not driving enough ' ".? concerned for safety - will they fail" 2. took car in today 4.5.18 - for 2nd time due to odor of propane or gas when coming to stop / low speed or idleing.. was told no bulletin or notice out for issue - which was leaking fluid undercar -which ' could cause fire ' was told I could not leave with my vehicle, rental was provided under my paid warranty. Review of online info shows many stories out as well as lawsuit on this very odor issue- yet I was never informed. Smell has been ongoing since Sept. 2017

My engine turned off while I was driving. I was slowing to a stop from 55mph to approx. 20mph to go straight at a red light. The light turned green before I came to a stop. When I pressed the gas to accelerate the engine turned off and all systems in the car did as well including power steering. I had no control of the car as it slowed to almost a stop in the middle of the intersection on a green light. I was luckily to able to coast at approx. 5pmh to the end of the intersection before it completely stopped and the car behind me didn't hit me, they went around. I had to get help pushing it to the side of the road after that to avoid an accident since it stopped in the road. When the engine failed the dash lit up with a picture of the engine and said to check power to engine. There was no warning beforehand. I do all my oil changes and regular maintenance. There was no check engine light or any other indicator that something would have been wrong. After this incident and getting the car home it now has a check engine light and won't run correctly. We changed the battery due to the wording about engine power and that didn't help. What I am most concerned and upset about is after this happened we looked the problem up online and it is has happened to hundreds of other people. If any other problems happened that many times that caused injuries this would be a recall and corrected immediately. But because out of luck I was on a rural 1 stop light road and no cars hit me as my vehicle completely failed on me, it isn't. I've received no notices and bought it used from a dealer. I commute to work every day and I am so thankful this wasn't on a work day on the freeway where it would have caused me to completely stop. Or dropping off my kids to school. I am honestly scared to get it 'fixed' and it happen again with no warning. Or put my kids in a car that puts us in danger.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, a loud noise was heard from under the hood and near the engine. The accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. The failure occurred without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle could accelerate only 5 mph for half a distance, and the engine stalled. The vehicle was towed to the bowditch collision center (Ford dealer) located at 975 J. clyde morris blvd, newport news, va 23601; (757) 595-2210 where it was diagnosed that the entire engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-392-3673 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not part of the recall, they will not be able to do anything and that the contact would need to pay for the repair. The manufacturer also informed the contact to call the NHTSA and a case number 12730423 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

After approximately two minutes, the vehicle performed normally. The vehicle was taken to a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer in franklin, Tennessee where it was diagnosed that the water pump failed and the water destroyed the engine. The engine would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: Cas-12638580-mm4M1H9. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Code P2111 occurs and at stop light engine appears to almost stall. While driving the stability control tuns off, low oil pressure light comes on, and check engine light comes on. Problem goes away while driving after a second. At the stop light, it begins every time you come to the stop light. Ford says nothing is wrong but this appears to be another throttle body issue with Ford Edges.

2011 Ford Edge lost all power from the throttle while traveling on the interstate. Pulled over to the side of the road, had a yellow wrench light, no throttle response and rough running engine. Shut the vehicle off waited about 2 minutes and restarted everything was running fine. Drove the Edge about 10 miles on the interstate to my exit, after coming to a stop and ready to accelerate onto the highway I hit the gas and got out into the intersection and the yellow wrench light illuminated again and lost all power leaving me stranded in the middle of the intersection with traffic coming both ways. After traffic stopped and I was able to slowly move to the shoulder I shut the car down again and called a friend to come help me. After sitting for 10-20 minutes, my friend showed up and the Edge restarts and was able to drive home. Thankful my parents weren't driving or children weren't in the car and no accident was caused. After doing some research I've come to the conclusion that the throttle body is to blame and all the symptoms are the same. Apparently this is a common problem on the Edge, mustang, flex, Explorer and Lincoln mkx. Very disappointed and dangerous! great vehicle but poor quality of electronic parts I hope and pray this never happens to someone who panics while on the interstate. Vehicle will not be drove until this issue is fixed. Date of incident October 9th, 2015 approximately 7:45 and 8:00-8:15. Mileage approximately 105, xxx.

While driving 70 mph on the freeway the engine suddenly completely lost power with no warning what so ever. Luckily we were able to safely pull to the side of the road. This issue could have ended very badly if there was more traffic at the time it happened. After searing the formums many other Edge owners have reported this same issue. The throttle body appears to be the faulty part that causes the issue.

1.a wrench shaped light came on from instrument panel, and having a sudden loss of power while driving. 2.the accelerator stops working or has extremely limited power. 3.after power off the vehicle and wait for 10-15 minutes to restart the vehicle, the wrench shaped light goes away and the vehicle in drivable condition again. But the problem could happen again within a day or in few days. It is really dangerous while during in highway or in busy roads when this problem occurred. The problem happens randomly. Sometimes it could happen several times in a day, sometimes it won't happen in a week. I called Ford dealers and they said to diagnostic it for $98 and only when the symptom happens they will be able to find the real cause. I searched online and it's a very common problem to 2010 -2013 Ford Edge owners.

I purchased the certified used Edge in October of 2013. I have a major problem with the vehicle it has lost all power on me twice in the last month. Once while sitting idle and just tonight while driving 65 mph on the highway. The wrench light came on and I had just enough time to put my hazard lights on to alert the vehicle approaching my vehicle. It took several minutes for me to get to the side of the highway as I was in the middle lane. I called for aaa to have the vehicle towed home. While waiting I turned the vehicle off. Just as the tow truck arrived I turned the vehicle back on and the wrench symbol was gone. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle so I still had it towed. I will be taking it to the shop on Monday morning. Hopefully they can find and fix the issue. This seems to be a very dangerous issue. I could have been rear ended or killed in a horrible accident. I have been searching online to see if this is a common problem and it seems as if many Ford Edge owners have experienced this problem. Then I checked for a recall and cannot seem to find one. I would hate for someone to be seriously injured before this problem is solved or dealt with by Ford motors.

WHILE DRIVING CAR JUST SHUTS OFF, CANNOT ACCELERATE. WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND NUMEROUS FORDS HAVE SAME ISSUE. THEY ALL COME BACK WITH THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO ASK ABOUT ISSUE AND TO SEE IF ANY RECALLS ARE OUT. NO WAS THE ANSWER. HOW CAN THERE BE NO RECALLS WHEN THERE ARE HUNDREDS (PROBABLY THOUSANDS) HAVING THIS PROBLEM. FORD ESCAPE, EXPLORER AND SOME TRUCKS DID HAVE A RECALL....WHY NOT THE EDGE. I'M AM ABOUT TO PUT OUT OVER 600 DOLLARS TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO ISSUE A RECALL AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I'M JUST GRATEFUL THAT OUT OF THE 7 OR 8 TIMES THIS HAPPENED THAT NOBODY WAS HURT OR WORSE MAKE FORD STAND BEHIND THEIR CARS...[XXX] IT I'M SICK OF PUTTING OUT THOUSANDS AND GETTING CRAP IN RETURN. When driving, the wrench icon came on and the car lost all acceleration. Power was lost and the gas pedal would not work at all! there was no limp mode, no acceleration at a reduced speed. This was/is extremely dangerous! it happened to me 7 times within a couple of months. I was fortunate to be driving in a Suburban community where I could pull over to the shoulder. When I turned the car off and restarted it, it worked fine. The Ford dealer could not find a problem because there was no code when they checked. I just took it in again because the service engine light also came on, and they have said it is the throttle body.
