There have been sooooooo many complaints on this same issue and Ford is not taking the responsibility of calling a recall and fixing the issue. They did a recall on other Ford cars with car door issues. It is a safety issue due to the door ajar light and alarm sound when driving which is alarming to the driver and can cause an accident while driving. I would just like Ford to fix the problem and lets move on.

There have been numerous recalls from Ford due to this door latch but not yet on this make and model. They are aware of the problem yet unwilling to fix it all the way. This is a safety hazard since the door doesn't latch correctly or locked while driving. Also the interior lights come on when the vehicle is started which causes safety issues when driving at night.

Door ajar problem. Close door on driver side and door ajar indicator stays on. Cannot lock doors while driving. Constant ringing by the door ajar sensor warning. Dealer wants 400plus dollars to fix. Poor design manufacturing passed on to public. Investigation by nhsta has begun please and thanks that they quickly fix all the Foord vehicles with this safety issue.

The rear door ajar stays lit on the instrument panel, the interior lights stay on and the doors do not lock. This appears to be a common problem with these vehicles. Sometimes opening and closing the door will work, more often than not this does not work.

Last week when my wife was in San Francisco I came home from work and noticed the little light above the radio was on, even though nobody was near the car and it had not been used in several days.

Forward to this week, the car did not start yesterday. This could be very dangerous living in Canada, having a car that is a couple of years old and it not starting in the winter time due to electrical problems.

Ford should issue a recall as these electrical problems are dangerous as the doors are not locking and now the car is not starting intermittently.

The Ford Escape, Ford CMAX and others have been recalled for faulty door latches. The doors will not lock if the car does not believe the door is closed. The problem with that is, the door could potentially open because they don't automatically lock when the door is shut and the car does not recognize that the car door is shut.

I took my Ford Edge in several months ago and they said it would cost $200.00 and it was not under warranty. That charge was just to figure out what is wrong. Now, I am reading that there have man multiple recalls on the escape and c max, but not on the edge.

Ford initially only recalled for the "hotter" climate states. Funny, my door acts up more in warm weather than in cold.

I think they need to fix all door latch problems, for all models, period, and free of charge.

Sincerely,

Courtney

Right before 50k the door ajar light comes on. Sometimes slamming the door several times turns it off and sometimes it stays on the whole drive to work. Very worrisome. We take care of our cars and didn't expect this obvious bad ford part. Ford should recall and replace at no charge. We may trade it in - will NEVER buy another Ford!

The driver side door was supposedly ajar but of course wasn't. The interior light would come on and stay on and probably the worst thing was that the doors wouldn't lock when underway. I took the fuse out of the interior light circuit, it was so annoying. I wrote an email to the Ford CEO complaining about all this. He never responded. Usually, when company email addresses are provided, it means they care and will strive to fix your problem. Not this time. I have a friend in the car repair business who fixed this for $278, otherwise Ford would have charged $400 probably. Also, there are three more doors that can potentially have the same problem....plus the hatch. I'm totally pissed at Ford. I bought five new vehicles from Ford over a twenty year period and put up with crappy brakes among other issues but was generally satisfied. This means we're now divorced.

I have a 2013 Ford Edge and the Door Ajar Light comes on every time I start the car. It has now gotten worse where my doors do not lock, my interior lights stay on even when the car is off, which is running down my battery. My keypad on the door no longer works from the door ajar issue and now the warnings will not turn off and just keep beeping even after the car is off.

I called Ford and they said nothing has been done to remedy the issue, no recall, and that it is not a safety issue which is BS!! My car doors not being able to lock is a safety issue and my interior lights coming on while I'm driving at night by themselves is a safety issue. I am sure anyone with children or with nieces and nephews like me think it is a safety issue when I pick up my niece who is 6 yrs old and I start to back out of the driveway and she opens her back door!! That happened because my doors don't lock!! I can not pick up or drive with my niece and nephew in the car till this major problem is fixed and Ford is trying to charge me $600!!!! They could have cared less that this is a wide spread issue with the 2013 Ford Edge. Has anyone else gotten a better answer from Ford?

This sounds like a really big problem so Ford needs to step up and do the right thing to fix it for their customers for free. Really bad when you pay a lot of money for a vehicle. This is obviously a common problem.

Edge SE 2.0L 4

I have the door ajar light (door latch sensor) problem that is very common on the Ford Edge. I don't see how it is possible that my vehicle meets NHTSA standard Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 206, Door locks and door retention components. The testing for that standard would have been done in a laboratory, and it is apparent that contaminants out in the field are making their way into the door lock assembly and compromising the sensor - it is not a stretch to consider the latch itself is deteriorating. Ford should either have to replace the latch system with one that has a lower failure rate, or do sufficient testing on malfunctioning vehicles from the field that prove the latch strength is still within FMVSS standards.

Repeatedly have dealt with this issue on the driver's door without resolve. Service of it at the dealership under warranty consisted of cleaning it, which lasts weeks at the most. The doors wont stay locked. The interior lights will intermittently come on while driving at night, leaving me unable to see. At times I will look out at my car, parked for hours, and the parking/approach and interior lights will come on - for whatever reason, the vehicle will suddenly and incorrectly sense the door has been opened, even after hours of sitting unopened and fine. This just wiped out my battery.

Door ajar light issue keeps getting worse. Vehicle will not lock sometimes. Lights stay illuminated. Could cause more issues if in an accident. Ford unable to provide recall even though problem is widely reported.
