1. the 'door ajar' sensor is telling the car that the door is always open. As a result, the interior lights stay on all the time, which causes visibility issues while driving at night. It also leaves the lights on even after the engine is turned off and doors are locked, which drains the battery, and has caused my wife to be stranded a couple of times. We replaced the switch and a year later, we are having the same problem again. Our daughter often drives the car to college at night and has been stranded at least twice after getting out of class at 10 pm. This problem has gone beyond a nuisance and is now a safety issue. When I called Ford dealer to complain again, they told me they can fix it, by replacing the switch assembly on the door lock, for $400. So far, this sensor has been replaced twice in 4 years and it looks like it will need to be replaced again. 2. over the last few weeks, the light for "shift to park" come on randomly. Most often, it is when my wife is stopped at the light. The moment she takes her feet off the break, the light comes on and stays on until she steps on the gas and the car starts to move. We took the car to the dealer and they were not able to find any problems. Right after leaving the dealership, at the stop light, the light came back on again. We took the car back to the dealership and they said if we wanted them to look at it, they will have to charge us another $140 for the tests. Either the dealership service people don't know what they are doing or they have a good scam going. They charge people and tell them there was nothing wrong with the car, and have them bring it back again for another charge.

You can be driving and the door ajar light will come on which turns the interior lights on making driving at night very difficult due to the unexpected lighting that reduces visibility greatly at an instance. Also it may take several attempts closing the door to get the door ajar light to go out causing one to wonder if the door is truly closed or not.

Driver's door falsely indicating ajar. First occurrence was at 29K miles and local Ford dealer cleaned it per tsb 15-0013 and the system worked fine for a period of time. Issue would reoccur sporadically for varying duration. It is now a daily issue and needs to be replaced and is "not a warranty item". this issue presents a serious safety issue while driving at night as the interior light comes on as if the door was opened causing reduced visibility as well as removing Focus from the road to manually override the interior lighting system.

Door ajar light keeps coming on. Ford fixed at around 38,000 miles now it has come back. I was told they would do the cheap fix and it would return and that has been the case now I am out of warranty. Ford this is a safety issue and should be a recall. If the dome light stays on at night or doors wont lock this is a huge liability. Also its sets off the alarm and drains my battery.

On 6-22-17 I purchased the Ford Edge from town and country Toyota. Less than a week later the car computer indicator consistently began to denote door ajar. The car was taken back to the dealership where it remained for 4 days. On 7-13-2017 while driving on busy street in charlotte nc around 4:30 pm in the afternoon the Ford Edge computer system flashes that the oil pressure is low. Immediately after this information was placed on the car computer screen the breaks locked, the steering lock and the car stops while in transition with no warning and I am sitting underneath the green light in the middle of an intersection on the street.

Door ajar light remains on while the door is completely closed and seated. Ford states that the latch had to be replaced at a cost of $465. Multiple other professional opinions have stated that the latch is unnecessary and that there have been numerous complaints regarding the door ajar light remaining on after cleaning various parts, replacing parts, and spending large amounts of money on patch fixes. The light came on intermittently approximately one month ago and gradually stayed on as time progressed. Originally, I could close the open and close the door up to 3 times and the door ajar light would turn off. Over time the light would continually stay on. This began to drain the vehicle battery as well.

2013 Ford Edge, the door latch switch, not working properly, causing the door ajar light to stay on and also the inside lights, the door ajar alarm sounds, signaling that a door is open when they are clearly all closed, on one instance the battery was dead requiring me to get a jump start. Ford needs to recall, and fix this problem. This is an ongoing problem no matter if you are parked or driving down interstate

I have a front passenger side door ajar light that is on. It came on just after the warranty expired. As time went on, it caused my battery to go dead leaving my wife and daughter stranded. After replacing the battery I did some online research and found that this is unfortunately a very common problem that Ford is unwilling to address. I also determined that I needed to remove the dome light fuse to disable the interior dome lights from staying on and causing another battery failure. Checking with the Ford dealership, I found to repair the would cost me $385, and that the problem has no recall. This condition in my opinion is dangerous, not only does it cause the battery to eventually fail, but if you remove the dome light fuse, it causes the door locks not automatically lock, so you have to manually lock each door and the hatch, because when the key is in the ignition, the door locks won't lock. Also, you have no interior lightning at night when you open the doors, plus you lose the lighting ability on the steering wheel components. This is a definite safety issue that Ford needs to step up and address. Everyone that I have spoken with that has an Edge, has had one of these sensors problems on at least one or multiple doors. I have been told that Ford is more than aware of the problem, but doesn't consider it recall worthy. I really thought more of Ford Motor Company than this, but I guess I was wrong
