Door ajar warning comes on and will not go off. Interior lights remain on and none of the vehicle locks will latch because vehicle believes a door is ajar, when in fact it is not. The issue began about 2 weeks ago (October 10, 2016). I was able to open and shut door to turn the senor off the first few times the door ajar light came on and that solved the problem...temporarily. At this point the door ajar light remains on, interior lights remain on when vehicle is parked and turned off, battery is drained due to lights staying on unless I disconnect the battery and doors never lock - not when vehicle is in motion, not when it is parked.

Driver door ajar warning comes on continually. It is not ajar. An irritating alarm is sounded repeatedly. Re-closing the door does not correct the problem. The alarm continues to sound whether in motion or stopped.

Door ajar sensor - leading you to believe the door is ajar. The door is closed but the interior lights remain on as though the door is ajar. The interior lights may or may not turn off while driving this is dangerous at night. Door lock button won't activate door locks sensing a door is ajar again very dangerous.this sensor comes on at will driving not driving no rhyme or reason. Prolonged lighting may shorten the life of my battery or leave us stranded. Ford refuses to acknowledge this design problem and the burden of repair on their customers a recall is in order.

In addition, the front and rear passenger side doors randomly failed to remain closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the sensors were cleaned. Two months later, the failures recurred. My car, Ford Edge 2013 has a problem with the driver door sensor which shows that the door is not closed causing the alarm bell to stay on, the interior lights won't turn off, had to have a jump start. Took to Ford dealer and was charged for repair. Quite expensive for me to pay for what Ford should be paying for. I understand that are quite a large number of owners with the same problem. Also smell exhaust fumes when shutting shutting off the engine as I get out of the car. Coming from engine compartment. Understand this is also a problem for other owners. These factors together should be reason for the NHTSA to get involved and force a recall to review our groups problems. I paid $229 to clean contacts. New parts much more expensive. Help us with this.

I have owned this vehicle for less than a year and 2 months after purchasing it the door ajar light came on. It comes on everytime I start the car. A message appears saying to put the car in park and shut the door, I have done this numerous times to no avail. I have tired driving forward and opening the door then shutting it while still driving forward slowly (sometimes this will work temporarily) and I have also tired doing the same in reverse. I have called Ford and been told to take it to a Ford dealership for a diagnostic test. The test is going to cost $120 plus tax then the parts and labor so I'm looking at a cost of $500 or more! Ford knows this vehicle has this issue, so why don't they do a recall. I live in a rural area where we have bear and mountain lions and I stand outside for 10 minutes or more waiting for the interior lights to go off, when they still don't, I around the car and open and close all the doors again and wait some more. (as a women I truly am nervous while I'm out there) not to mention having to drive at night hoping I won't get a ticket because the interior lights stay on. No wonder why consumers get mad and don't want to buy american made products anymore. Come on Ford make the recall happen already!!!!!

Suddenly the vehicle no longer registered one of the doors as being closed. It always had the door ajar warning on the screen and the dome lights stayed on and doors wouldn't lock while driving as if a door was open. This made it difficult to drive at night because all the lights would be on in the car. Also, my 4 year old was able to reach and open the door while the car was in motion so I had to take the car into the dealership to have it fixed immediately before one of my children was hurt. The car only has approximately 40,000 miles on it and is well cared for but out of warranty so the repair cost us 474$ and I was out of a vehicle for two days.

My 2013 Ford Edge has a mechanical/electric door jar switch which fails thus you end up with a 'door ajar' warning on your dash. Thus you can't lock your doors and the light and radio remain on after to exit the vehicle.
