My driver side door ajar alarm is constantly activated, even when the door is shut tightly. Because the door ajar is always activated my car alarm has started going off randomly, so now I can no longer lock my car without fear that the alarm will be set off while I'm away from the vehicle. While driving the sensor for the door ajar keeps dinging, which is very distracting and causes confusion. It also refuses to go off no matter how many times I try closing the door, so there is no way so stop the dinging or alarms while the vehicle is in operation.

At the end of February my "door ajar" light kept staying on after closing it- I had to repeatedly close it to get the light to go off. On March 5th my vehicle lost power while traveling down a main highway at night with my 2 year old daughter. I had to pull over and wait for someone to come help us. I am just thankful I wasn't on a major highway or interstate when this happened. I called Ford on March 7th to question it and they told me to take it in. I learned on March 15th that the driver's side door latch had gone bad and since it stayed on it killed my battery along with my throttle body had gone bad in my car as well. I researched and found several other Ford models that had these same issues with recalls or customer satisfaction programs but my particular vehicle and parts weren't covered. I have in turned been waiting now 5 weeks for the throttle body part for my car, which has left me having to borrow a way to go because I can't afford to fix my car and pay for a rental. Ford still will not tell me why the part is backordered. I don't see why its my responsibility to pay for these repairs when there are so many other Ford in this year range with these same issues that are being covered. I never thought it would take 5 weeks to come up with a part and now the anticipated ship date has been moved from April 8th to April 28th. This is uncalled for. My car is my only way to go and too new to be having these types of issues. My only assumption is there are an excessive amount of Ford vehicles with these same issues and Ford should be covering them for faulty parts.

Vehicle continues to alarm drivers door ajar even though it is shut, I am told it is a common issue with the door latch sensor, because of this the vehicle does not sense that the door is shut, it continues to ding and flash between "driver door ajar" and "shift to park" because of this, none of the doors lock and the interior lights stay on (very troublesome at night)

When shut, the door does not register as such. I have had to open/close it several times before the "door ajar" signal goes off. This issue has been progressively worsening, and now I believe the 'sensor' has completely failed. The door shuts, locks, and arms the alarm, yet the dome light and ajar symbol continue to stay on. Ford has told me this is a "wear and tear" issue that they will not cover! I have seen this issue affect many Ford models between 2001-2015 but more prominently when it comes to the Edge. I got the vehicle 08/2015 and this issue started occurring intermittently by 12/2015; now, this is occurring each time I have to open the driver door.

Driver's side door ajar light will not always go off when door closes. This causes interior lights to remain on going down the road and at night causes driver to not see as well. Also, doors will not automatically lock when door sensor doesn't work correctly which is worrisome in some parts of town. Many times dome lights may stay on for hours when door shows to be ajar. This of course causes battery to run down which has required battery to be replaced. Please help as I now know there are many Ford owners who will not purchase or recommend any Ford to family or friends.

The contact opened the door and shut it, but the warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000. The VIN was not provided.

After closing the driver side door, the door ajar light comes on. The doors used to automatically lock as you put it in reverse/drive if all of the doors are closed properly, but the driver side door sensor tells the car door is ajar. This not only annoying to see the pop up, the interior lights stay on which is also a safety issue. Ford has received many complaints on this issue but is refusing to do a recall.

Door ajar comes on while the door is closed and you have the open and close the door more than 50 times for it to go off......Ford needs to redesign or replace sensors/ door lock mech. Especially not even being 2,000 miles after replacement and from what I've read online with other Ford Edge owners and other Ford vechical owners this is a very common problem

The door sensor on front driver's side door does not work properly. I have to shut the door very hard several times before it says the door is closed. This can leave the interior lights running after the car is turned off and can cause problems with the door locking properly.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While parked, the front passenger side door sensor light illuminated and chimed in the vehicle. The failure prevented the doors from locking manually and electronically. The failure previously occurred on the front driver side door too. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000. Updated 05/10/16

The door ajar warning message (always indicating the driver side door) comes on even when the door is closed. I have to shut the door hard several times to get the warning message or door ajar removed. Now there have been instances when I am driving and the drivers side door ajar warning appears. The warning messages also say shift to park when the door ajar warning message appears.

The front driver door sensor will not go off no matter how many times you open and re-close the door. This causes the following to occur: 1) when driving the car, the doors will not lock, which is a major safety issue for those with children 2) when leaving the car, the door is not recognized as closed so the interior dome light and side-view mirror lights all remain on. This drains the battery while the car sits idle.

My Ford Edge 2013 is not turning off the overhead lights when I close the driver side door and when driving I get a warning stating that the door is ajar.sometimes after slamming the driver door two to three times it goes away.it has become quiet annoying and dangerous when I drive since it becomes a constant distraction.I have gone to the dealer and they state that either the sensor or the latch have become faulty..really?...I think its about time for Ford to do a recall and correct this issue since I have talked to other Ford owners with the same exact issue in there offices.
