The front door lock sensor doesn't work. When the door is shut the sensor doesn't sense that the door is shut, causing the notice to direct user to shift car in park to shut door, when it's already shut.

Driver door sensor does not sense the door is closed. This prevents the over head dome light from shutting off, which at night making it hard to see out the front windshield. The door locks also will not stay locked even if you manually push down the indicator. This allows my children to open the rear doors as we drive down the street. I was told twice now that this is not a safety issue and nothing is broken, so it isnt covered under warranty or a recall.

We were on our way to Texas from Missouri. As we were traveling South on I35 a warning light came on the dash stating that the driver's door was ajar when it appeared to be shut. It then told us to shift to park and shut the door. We pulled over on I35 thinking it was something that we needed to do for safety reasons. My wife got out of the vehicle and was almost hit by a car at highway speeds. After shutting the door several times the warning light would not go off as well as the dome light. Because of the issue the doors would not lock and the alarm would not arm itself. I have been a local police officer for kcpd for 14 years and have seen far too many accidents because of people pulling over on a highway. This issue needs to be addressed and fixed on all Ford vehicles. After our trip I reserched this issue online and apparently its happening on several different Ford models. I saw complaint after complaint by people who were Ford owners.

Driver door ajar warning light stays on when door is shut. Door locks will not lock upon movement of vehicle when light is on. When trying to lock the vehicle after turning off, interior and puddle lights stay on, draining battery. This has gotten progressively worse over the past six months.

The driver's door ajar light on the dash instrument cluster and the interior lights stay illuminated even when the door is completely shut. The door needs to be slammed several times before the light extinguishes, but sometimes will not go out at all. This leaves driver with an insecure feeling the car door is not securely closed while driving. This problem seems to be widespread on this model vehicle from what I read on the internet.

The sensor on the driver's door latch failed to detect that the door was closed in order to lock the doors. Need to slam door several times to attempt to activate sensor. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work. Interior lights remain on while door is parked (draining battery) or while driving, which is a safety distraction at night. Doors do not lock and when trying to manually lock, the vehicle automatically unlocks all doors - very unsafe with children or elderly in vehicle. Ford warranty expires at the low mileage of 36,000 miles, so they will not fix without spending $450. The Ford warranty is very poor compared to all other vehicles. Updated 09/03/15

Driver door sensory light "door ajar." Door is always shut when it trips & even periodically while driving down road. It's been cleaned repeatedly, supposedly fixed at local Ford dealership once a few months back, & doing it again. Cleaning hasn't worked this round either.

The driver door ajar sensor keeps staying on even when the door is shut all the way. It takes several attempts of opening and closing the door to get it to go off. While the door ajar sensor is on you can not lock your doors which is a safety issue. Because of this manufacturers defect it is easy for anyone to open the door and be attached or car jacked. If you are not careful the light can stay on for hours and drain your battery. I am sure nothing will get done about this until someone is killed or attached because of this defect. Its a shame!!!

The driver's side door ajar warning/indicator light it near impossible to get it to switch off. If the warning light is on then the doors will not lock and the doors must lock so 'we' I can feel safe driving the Edge. It is not safe to drive around with the doors unlocked these days! it sometimes take many multiple slams of the door to get it to go off and the doom light to also turn off. Sometimes there is no way to get the warning light to turn off (so the doom light stays on), which kills the battery. There are many hundreds and hundreds of these complaints online, so please make Ford do the right think and correct their known problem! when the door does not latch the locks will not engage, an un-lached door is bad enough but not having a locked door at some red lights can be a literal killer or a literal mugging!

Door ajar warning light will not go off, even if door is closed. Online research shows that this problem has been ongoing for years with thousands of vehicles. Ford will not acknowledge problem. Cost to repair:$500 and eventually four doors:$2000. Interior lights do not go off causing problem at night.

The front driver side door ajar switch is malfunctioning. The door does not 'know' it is closed. Sometimes slamming it works, sometimes not. Did some online research and this is a very common issue and the fix is very expensive. Many mechanics think it should be recalled.
