The vehicle began making water sloshing sounds behind the dashboard and the check engine light came on. Upon inspection the mechanic found the car was very low on coolant. They had to add nearly 1 gallon back. The check engine light code was due to a cylinder misfire on start up. Ford has a bulletin 22-2229 detailing their knowledge of this exact issue. The dealership confirmed this is the issue this vehicle is experiencing. Had I continued to use the vehicle under these conditions, my engine could have experienced failure while driving. This could cause a serious accident putting the safety of passengers, pedestrians and other drivers at risk. While Ford acknowledges the existence of this issue, they have not made customers aware. This is Ford's description of this known issue- "Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or a runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the long block engine assembly."

We were driving down the road and the check engine light came on so we took it in and they said the #2 cylinder was miss firing. So they changed the plug and coil on #2. The check engine light went away until the next day when we drove it. So we took it back and they checked it again and it was the same issue. But after further checking they found that the #2 cylinder has coolant leaking into it causing the misfiring and engine using coolant. So after all of that they said I needed a new engine. It will cost me $7600 to replace it if I wanted to keep using my car. I did not have any other choice other than to have it fixed. I don-??t have the money to buy a new car so that-??s all we could do. We just got the car back and after 2 days it seems to be fixed. It-??s totally nuts that Ford will not pay anything towards fixing it. Also the guy at the dealership told me when I picked it up to drive for 3 years and then get rid of it because I have unlimited mileage warranty for that time. I have 76000 miles on the car when this happened and never in my years seen this on any car I have owned its totally rediculous that Ford will not HELP!!!!!!!

The motor started to overheat with no warning. Was in heavy traffic and had trouble getting out of the way. Took it to 2 different mechanics, one was a ford mechanic. They both said the same thing, its leaking coolant into one of the cylinders and that I need to replace the engine. There wasn't any kind of sign or warning that the motor was going to fail or mess up. Ford refuses to fix the problem and or help in some way to make it right. Ford knows about the 2.0 eco boost engine issues!!!!!

The 2.0 ecoboost engine failed in my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium when coolant began pouring into the number two cylinder. I had a warranty on it so it is currently being replaced with a remanufactured engine since this is a common issue with this particular engine. I felt unsafe driving it because it was unclear when or if it would overheat and stall me on the side of the road. The vehicle is currently at an independent service center where it has sat for over three weeks while they worked with the warranty company on a replacement plan. There was an inspection done at the service center. The check engine light came on a short while after I purchased it, at less than 500 miles of being driven by me. The code was "Misfire in cylinder 2", which was caused by the coolant flooding the cylinder. This is a common issue with this particular engine from what I have read online since purchasing it and Ford should do the responsible thing and recall them all before someone is injured from it overheating.

The engine light came on. I took it to the Ford dealership and they stated there was a misfire in piston #3 which was because coolant was leaking into the engine. The only way to repair would to replace the engine. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. My safety and the safety of my children are put at risk because the engine should stop at anytime causing potential danger while driving. The Greenwood Ford dealership has confirmed and diagnosed the issue. No one other than the dealership and an independent service center has inspected the vehicle. The engine light came on causing me to take the vehicle in. The dealership stated that this is a known issue for my vehicle type with this exact engine.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the engine coils and the radiator were replaced however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic and the head gasket was replaced but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and the contact was informed that cylinder #2 had a crack and that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Coolant is leaking into cylinder 2 and the ford shop I dropped it off at today is currently running diagnostic. IT'S going to be the same issue that 1000s if not 100,000s of owners with the 2.0 ecoboost have; a replacement engine that Ford forces owners to cover the replacement engine themselves. My wife has had the car since about Aug 2022, still owes $23000 and now we have to figure out how to pay for engine.

Around 50,000 miles my edge broke down, following warranty protocol I took to dealership and found out fluids were leaking into my motor. Had to replace engine, coil pack and cylinders. Less than a month later the engine light came back on and took it to a ford mechanic. The warranty approved motor was having the same issues as motor replaced. I needed another engine. Only somehow less than 2,000 miles and I wasn-??t covered anymore through warranty. I had to find another motor and pay out of pocket for it to be replaced.

2017 Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost Engine Block: Very rough sputtering/misfire detected once I started driving, a Flashing check engine light appeared, P-0303 code (Cylinder 3 Misfire), White smoke, Engine coolant leaking into Cylinder 3 causing a misfire. After starting the car and driving it a very short distance, the engine started sputtering and misfiring really bad. Check engine light came on and was flashing. Went back home to check the code which was a P-0303 = Cylinder3 misfire. Apparently, there is a design flaw in these engines and a Ford TSB-22-2229 has been issued for the problem. New engine block replacement is the only fix.

There is a coolant leak into my engine cylinders that has completely ruined my engine. They told me they-??re surprised my engine hasn-??t caught fire. They refuse to cover it even though the issue falls under TSB 22-2229 but they say the VIN doesn-??t. There-??s many lawsuits against them because it-??s an issue with the Ford engine 2.0-liter turbo-four ecoboost engine. It-??s happen to many people without warning. I luckily caught it before my engine blew. If you look up the TSB online there are many lawsuits against Ford right now and they still refuse to put out a recall and the new engine costs $9,000. It-??s a safety concern because there-??s no warning and the engine has potential to catch fire or blow. I read online that if your car has this engine that it is only a matter of time before this happens. Ford tried to blame the issue on me and tell me that I didn-??t keep up with maintenance and they completely didn-??t tell me about the TSB for the car. I had to go back and read my report to find the TSB. They tried to trick me into buying a new engine even thought this is a faulty engine that they manufactured. I have kept up with maintenance and my car only has 56,000 miles on it and my warranty just expired. No way your engine just blows on a 56,000 mile car. I worry for the safety of others driving this car and many other Fords that have the same engine. A contact that we know at Ford is trying to help us out and cover some of the costs but they refuse to admit that it is a faulty engine that they manufactured. This and many other Fords with this engine are a liability and safety hazard to drive. Ford needs to be held accountable for their engine but instead they-??re making people like me pay out of pocket $9,000 that I can-??t afford.

I have a 2017 Ford Edge and I bought it from a dealer in jacksonville, fl. I've had the car for 5 months, at the 3rd month the car started to shake, engine like came on. Game me the miss fire on cylinders #2 and #4, took it to the Ford dealer in sanford, fl. Before that, I changed the spark plugs and coil packs after a diagnostic was found to have "coolant intrusion on cylinder #2, and was told that Ford would not cover the repair on the engine, but that the entire engine had to be replaced because Ford had changed the design on the engine and gaskets. This should be a recall, not a tsb, as I have found multiple complaints and they all have contacted Ford with the same results, so Ford is well aware of this issue. The dealer told me to trade in the car asap. I need help. Thank you

Took to Ford the found a TPI on the exhaust odors but have to go through -??steps-?? to find it. While I pay a deductible for them to find this. Ford is aware of exhaust odors but has not issued a recall yet for this.

While driving the vehicle on a major roadway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my vehicle suddenly stopped! It would not move forward or backwards. This was a definite safety issue and fortunately, the only cars around me were in the left and right lanes. I was in the middle lane and fortunately there was not a car directly behind me, or it would have run right into me. My vehicle went from travelling at 60 miles per hour to a complete standstill. My car is currently in Monroeville Ford right now for the same problem. This is after having the transmission replaced twice and having the engine replaced. The thing that is alarming is that was a safety issue and I, along with others could have been killed. It was only by the grace of God that other vehicles weren't behind me when my vehicle suddenly stopped.

On 08/17/22 I took my car into Bill Collins because there was a loss of coolant, and my SUV was acting up. It was jerking randomly. At the time the SUV was noted to have 63,860 miles. Dealership fixed recalls on vehicle and did a pressure test and said there was a water pump leak. Replaced water pump and gasket. Check engine light remained on and when asked dealership about it they said in order to get the check engine light off it would have to go to another part of the dealership, and we would be charged another $99 diagnostic fee. On 11/21/22 SUV was taken back to Bill Collins because it was still doing the same thing. This time you could also hear water moving/draining from behind the dash and the check engine light was still on. Dealership fixed another recall showing on vehicle and said that the water pump had air pocket. Sent home but sputtering engine was not fixed. 12/08/22 contacted dealership again to let them know that nothing they have done over the past several months has worked and SUV is still acting up. Was told they would have a higher up mechanic look at vehicle to see what the issue was. Dealership contacted us two days later stating that vehicle needs a new motor. Current mileage 67,883. Dealership stated they verified coolant intrusion into cylinder and that it is necessary to replace the long block. Exact verbiage from dealership employee. (Coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. Verified defective engine block. Coolant leaking internally.) My SUV has been in and out of Bill Collins Ford for the past 4 months and no one could figure out the problem. Yet, when we spoke to Bill Collins about the new motor, we were told at that time that this is a known issue. Yet, no one mentioned it for 4 months and I've been driving my vehicle in this condition? I work for Ford and have supported Ford for the past 7 years. I am wanting to understand how Ford is going to make this right.

Car started to smoke.and over heat while my kids were inside, the risk of fire was exponentially high. 3. Inspected by car dealership, due to desire to sell it, and autozone manager who is a mechanic. 4. Yes check engine light anx then the " reduced power to protect engine " and then " coolant over temp" and at a little over 60 thousand miles.
