A check engine light appeared after a couple rough idle starts. I took it in to have the code read and it was a Cylinder 2 misfire. It was explained that it was not a big deal, just needed to replace spark plugs. I replaced spark plugs (car has 65K miles), picked the car back and the problem still existed. Took it back in with the same check engine code of Cylinder 2 misfire, this time the replaced a ignition coil. Picked it up and still had the same issue, and I took it back and they replaced the fuel injector. After the fuel injector was replaced, 2 days later I was driving it home still having the same exact issues of when I originally took it in rough, misfiring start the car over heated. I shut the car off and seen that I had zero coolant. I put coolant in the reservoir ( completely shocked because I had just had an oil change, and they didn't notice the coolant was low). The next morning I called the place I had been taking it and told them what happened and they were stumped. So, I called Ford told them the issues I was having, they said, they are 100% sure they know the issue( because it is a known issue with this year and make of vehicle) of what is wrong with it but to bring it in and they will run a diagnostic on it. With in an hour they said, that I had a coolant leak that was leaking behind the spark plugs and going out the exhaust causing the misfire and white smoke. To replace the motor will be $7K. I bought this car brand new, had the extended warranty and maintenance plan on the vehicle. It was kept in pristine condition and never missed a oil change or any recall. Then 6 months after the warranty is out, this issue began. Ford knows that this is an issue and they have a technical warning on it for the Ford edge and other vehicles. It is a unsafe to drive and not fair that I need to pair 7k for a new engine on a issue they know they have with this engine.

Check engine light is still on after incurring approx. $1K+ in other repairs within the last 6 months. Took it to dealership whose invoice states, "Verified customer concern of check engine light and low coolant. Performed coolant pressure test and found cylinder #2 to have coolant intrusion." Apparently a TON of other 2017 Ford Edge owners have had the same exact issue at various points of the car's lifespan [XXX] ). I don't know how this hasn't become a recall by now. Estimate of repair is $10.5K+ and the car is only 7 years old. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The issue is with the ECO BOOST. on 8/23/24 Helena Motors diagnosed the issue as coolant intrusion into the cylinder. A check engine light came on and off several times. Each time the vehicle was inspected by the dealership and finally the issue identified in August.

I maintained my vehicle according to what dealership told me. I only had the dealership that sold me the vehicle, do all mtce since I purchased it. My engine light came on so I took it in to determine what the issue was. They indicated I had a mis fire and there was coolant in one of the cylinders so I needed a new engine. Upon learning this, I did some internet research to find out many many people have had the same issue. There are also TSBs that Ford put out to dealers but not consumers of a known defect in engine block design that makes it a high risk for the failure I experienced. My dealer or Ford never communicated any risk to me. This Engine should have been recalled!!!

Our engine failed soon after a Ford dealership looked at our Edge. They told us there were some issues, but they did not tell us they were immediately needed. We drove a month or so, and the engine light came on. We immediately called, and the earliest they could get us in was a few weeks out. So we tried to treat it gently. It died Friday due to coolant intrusion into the 2nd cylinder. Had they told us there was something urgent we could have done to repair it, we would have. The dealership says they would have only covered up to 100k miles as standard for powertrain. They admit nothing about the fact that their Ecoboost engines 1.5, 1.6, and 2.0 all have major problems and many of which have been recalled, some my year. They are quoting me $10k to fix, and they can only put the same engine in, even though I'm seeing there is also a 3.5L OEM engine available in this trim that is allegedly far more reliable. I believe they should cover this known issue, both because they knew and because they did not tell me it was a safety concern.

In early 2024 my 2017 Ford Edge began experiencing overheating. The car began slowing speeds to compensate for engine becoming too hot. Upon further investigation it was determined that my 2017 Ford Edge engine had a design flaw created by Ford Motor Company Being a retired widowed female, this was very upsetting for me. I did not have $6200 to replace my engine. I beleive the right thing to do is always doing the right thing. So I beleive Ford Motor Company should be held accountable, given this is their bad engine design flaw. Owners of the this model as well as other years and models of Fords have been affected. Do we have to have a fatality to recieve help? I tried to download docs. and class action lawsuits against Ford but unable to. But if I can see the class action lawsuits so can Ford. PLEASE do the right thing. This can have devistaing financial hardships. Thank you.

My engine light came on and the purge valve was replaced. I have 71k miles on my edge. Two weeks later the light came back on and on my way to the Ford service department, I started to get warnings of coolant leaking into engine, the car was powering down and i barely it there. I was told that I need a new engine at $8,500! I just put new tires on, new brakes and rotors, new wipers and replaced a purge valve, all for thousands of dollars. I don-??t have $8,500 so I am out a vehicle!!! I borrowed my friend-??s ford edge 2018 with 29k and within 3 weeks the engine light came on and I was driving it to be checked out with his mechanic to have it completely power down with the same frightening message of coolant leaking into the engine. Both our cars are sitting and out of commission!!! Ford needs to help its customers with repairs on their defective ecoboost engine design. My car was garaged, loved and always serviced at a ford dealership. I am sick over this entire situation for myself and friend and all the other ford customers faced with this poor engine design. My edge is a 2017 and my friend has a 2018-??how can one person carefully driving both cars within 3 weeks time have both engines completely die and need total replacements!!! I hope a class action lawsuit comes soon!

Coolant is leaking into my cylinders causing misfire and potentially hazardous issues to my vehicle. There are only 69,000 miles on my vehicle. It is low mileage by industry standards. This will be more than a $9,000 repair which is devasting to our finances. This is a design flaw, a manufacturer flaw and it is dangerous both physically/mechanically and financially to the owner.

The vehicle engine has a design flaw, the head gasket on all Ford eco-boost engines made in 2017 will inevitably break do to an unsecure seal to the top of the engine, this is because of the newly implemented cooling channels in between each cylinder, causing the inevitable failure of the engine

The motor has failed and possibly could be a manufacturing defect according to the mechanic. He has several instances of this model of car that the motor failed prematurely costing owners thousands of dollars to install a new motor! Also, stated that the car should be immediately not driven due to the defect in the motor and could fail and even lock up or overheat putting the driver in danger due to possible fire. The check engine light did come on. The little wrench icon came on. The estimate to replace the entire engine is $4700.

My edge has been experiencing flex plate issues since 106,000 miles. It-??s considered a CSP through ford there is a recall but my specific car -??isn-??t affected-?? this needs to be recalled so I can get it fixed. If this cracks all the way it could cause a fatal accident and there would be law suits. This is a huge safety concern, and needs to be pushed further as my car has the same type of flex plate as the other edges that have been recalled.

I took my Ford Edge in for a routine oil change in March 2024 and I received a call from the dealership that my car had an internal coolant leak. The technician told me this was a well known issue with these Ford engines and I need to replace the engine and it would cost approximately $10,000. I have seen that other cars with engines like mine have been recalled but my VIN was not on the recall list. I called Ford and was told they could not help me but I should save all receipts in case it gets added to the recall list. I believe that this should be taken care of by the Ford Corporation as it is a known engine defect and not caused by standard use of the vehicle.
