The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shifted into limp mode with a message indicating critical overheating, shut-off vehicle being displayed. The contact coasted to the side of the roadway and shut-off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted but failed to move. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed. The contact retrieved dtc codes: (P0219) engine overspeed condition and (P1299) cylinder head overtemperature protection active. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer. The contact was also informed of NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact called loveland Ford (999 E. eisenhower blvd, loveland, co 80537, (970) 667-2220) to inform the dealer of the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 97,755.

After purchasing my Ford my transmission went out while driving. I replaced it and a year later had my recall replaced for my coolant sensor. While this happened I had no idea my coolant level was so low because my warning light never came on in return damaged the hose. So I had to spend $562 to replace that to make sure the recall was put on correctly. When I returned to pick up my car I couldn't even drive it out because it started jerking and feels like my transmission is going out again. This 2014 Ford Escape has some serious problems with the transmission. Not to mention after so many miles of driving I have to take out my fuse to reset my bluetooth radio.

Vehicle has been diagnosed as leaking coolant into one of the cylinders. If left unrepaired, there is a possibility of engine fire. Dealer recommended repair is to replace the engine, at an unacceptably high cost of approximately $9000.

Escape

  • 101,000 miles
I own a 2014 Ford Escape it has 101,000 miles on it. The car has been well maintained with all the normal maintenance done at mileage recommended. I was on the interstate in traffic when all the sudden the vehicle just shut off, which left me in the middle of the interstate due to the bumper to bumper traffic. I had the vehicle towed to shop and come to find out the transmission went completely out. Called the Ford dealership and of course the warranty had just expired on it and was told that they weren't aware of this problem with these vehicles and there was nothing they could do about this problem. T this point it was going to cost me over 5K to have everything fixed. Come to find out Ford knew about this problem with this particular year make and model of this vehicle and are pretty much a joke. This problem should be a recall giving the fact I still owed money for this vehicle.

My car quit working and I have been trying to get it fixed since 10/24. It definitely sounds like the recall issue but Ford is telling me its not. They want to charge me $5500 to fix it but it definitely sounds like a bushing error.

In Feb 2019 I had my Ford Escape serviced for an engine coolant recall (17S09). In October 2020 the Ford dealership found my engine coolant leaking into the cylinders of my engine. This is a problem that should have been taken care of by the recall. This is a fire hazard and Ford claims the repair will be $5,000. They claim that the recall will not cover the expense. I am writing for Ford to reopen recall 17S09. This is a huge safety hazard and liability.

This is in regards to recall 17V209000 for my 2014 Ford Escape. I had this fixed in 2019, but I was not happy with the dealership's service. First of all, my car had been overheating, and I had to add coolant constantly, which was a symptom of the recall issue. I took it to the dealership to take care of the recall, which they said they did, but they told me the overheating was not caused by the recall problem, but something else, so in addition to fixing the recall problem, they said they fixed another problem associated with the overheating and charged me $250. I don't believe this, and I'm not even sure if they fixed the recall problem, however, they reported that they did, but they never called me back to have it installed. I believe the recall issue caused a cracked cylinder because last month I had to have a new engine (at my expense) installed. This car is only 6 years old and I have kept current with periodic oil changes and check-ups. What are my options with filing a claim, or some kind of report or recourse for this?

The community I live is landlocked (juneau, Alaska) and the one Ford dealership closed its doors a year and half later; since this time there is still not Ford dealership or authorized Ford garage in the juneau area to correct these six recalled items - Ford tells my I have to take it to dealer myself, however the cost to Transport the 2014 Escape would cost in the thousands in transportation cost. I've called Ford several times over the years, and refused to send to send a technician or offer a local repair shop to fix these recalled items; some of recalled items are pretty serious (possible engine fire, and transmission slipping in or out gear). Please help as I try to get Ford to fix, but they offer nothing more expensive cost to me for defective product. Took Escape to dealer on 08/26/20, all checked out. Someone had marked coolant resevoir on the paper work done at dealer, was written in and then it was crossed off. Fast foward 3 weeks and dash read "turn off engine too hot" took to dealer no other mechanic has touched car and they stated the resevoir had leaked and that the engine mount was corroded. They take no responsibility for not taking action on a broken resevoir that corroded engine mount. This happened on while driving 20 minuets on the freeway.

I took my car to a Ford dealship to for a recall. The recall was 17S09, a coolant level sensor installation. When I picked my vehicle up and drove it home, the next day my check engine light came on, so I brought it back. They then replaced a leaking coolant line to degas bottle. A few days later I turned on my vehicle to go somewhere and before even leaving my block, my check engine light came on again and instantly started over heating. I was luckily down the street from my home so I managed to get it back to my house, but I was afraid to drive it so I had it towed to the dealership for a third time. They didn't make any notes on that visit so I'm not sure what happened but when I picked it up they stated I needed to pay for services because they noticed a leak in my heater hose and the service was going to cost over $3000! my car was perfectly fine before taking it in for a recall. I wish I would have never brought it in because when I tried to make a complaint about how my car was serviced and what they did to it, I had no luck getting any help or assistance but I know the recall put my car in a worser condition. My vehicle had never over heated before and a few days after getting this recall it over heated as soon as I turned it on.

While coasting on the freeway at approximately 70mph my Ford Escape stopped accelerating. No warning lights illuminated, simply the accelerator stopped functioning. All fluid were okay and no overheating condition was present. I was able to pull over to the shoulder, shut off the engine and after a few minutes turned the engine back on. I pressed on the accelerator and the car jerked forward. The Ford seemed to go in and out of gear. I ended up towing the vehicle home. I had the transmission serviced (new transmission fluid). Few weeks later, same thing happened again (replaced throttle body) with not check engine light or fault code ever coming on. The second time this occurred, I was almost involved in a collision due to not being able to accelerate. Car drove again on and off. Took it to a transmission shop and was advised the transmission would need to be rebuilt. Transmission was rebuilt and the Ford seems to be driving much better, shifting is still not smooth.
