Purge valve failure. Purge valve was experiencing a leak and required replacment. Car would shut off on road when idling. Mechanic noted he has seen similar issues in other Ford Escapes, and even noted the part is identical to the purge valve that has been recalled on the Ford Focus.

"takata recall". my vehicle has lost 2 tanks of antifreeze in 3 months. It is not leaking onto the ground, because there are no drips or puddles ever visible under the vehicle. Other 2014 Ford Escapes were recalled for this same thing, which could ultimately cause a fire. My particular vehicle was not included in the recall, but is having the same issue, and dealerships won't fix it as a recall. Must my vehicle catch on fire before something is done!!

I bought my car in February 2017. Soon after purchasing this (used) I began losing engine coolant rapidly and my car would not get warm when I had the heat on. Also, blue smoke would come from the exhaust. I have taken to my brother-in-law for a look-over and they said this looks like a lemon car. Well, upon research, I see a recall which matches a lot of the symptoms of my cars issues, but no recall has been issued on my VIN. I believe that whatever is going on with my car is a direct result of the same issue being recalled and I need this investigated as soon as possible.

There was a leak from the radiator fluid into the engine block that resulted in a blown head gasket. There was no warn light suggesting that the coolant level was low, which may have prevented the problem. There has been a factory recall for this exact situation on the exact same make model and year of my vehicle, but somehow my vehicle was not included. Please see attached recall letter from Ford's site. This is my only car I have saved up to get and repairs of the head gasket would be $3000. However, Ford will not repair it because they said they can not guarantee the repair due to the issue with the leak. They have seen this several times. They will only do a full engine rebuild or replacement for $8000 because they admit that this is a factory defect. The vehicle is currently at the shawnee mission Ford (11501 shawnee mission pkwy. Shawnee, ks 66203) in desperate need of a recall. This happen while driving down interstate 35 from omaha to Kansas City

This car has had 13 recalls since manufactured for different mechanical and safety issues some even resulting in spontaneous eruption of fire to the engine bay. While replacing my battery the delearahip notified me of several recalls that required attention, so I had them replace each item that had been recalled, one of which was a sensor within the transmission. After I took the vehicle to have it replaced subsequently, maybe 6 months later I had driving issues while operating it on the expressway. The vehicle would go in and out of gear while driving and I could not control the speed of the vehicle. This occurred the entire drive home to the point where I had to drive with hazard lights on so that I would not get rear ended for having intermittent speed/driving issues. The car would literally over rev the the engine as if I was flooring the pedal when I wasn't even touch the gas at all. The sensor literally took control of the engine as if it was driving itself. I didn't drive it until the next morning then the next day, the only way to drive it was if I slowly transitioned speeds. I had to take the vehicle to have the same sensor replaced. After replacing the sensor it stills seems to need to be driven slower than when I first bought it or it might break again. This is a safety hazard. I'm afraid to drive the vehicle with my daughter in it due to the fact that I might have mechanical issues while driving again & be on the highway to have a high speed collision with a toddler would kill one or both of us. This model in particular has had more recalls than any car I've ever had or even heard of having. I have to continue making payments on it due to my negative equity yet it isn't reliable enough to get me to work everyday. Ford needs to replace this model for all owners.

Engine fire driving on a highway the car engine stopped and I coasted to the right shoulder. I made phone calls for help and assistance. The nysdot, highway emergency local patrol (help) truck pulled after about 15-20 minutes after stopping. The help operator looked inside the engine and saw that the coolant reservoir was low and offered to put some coolant in my vehicle from a supply in his truck. Then he had me run the engine in idle on the side of the road. The car seemed to run fine. In an effort to get the car off of the highway and to get some more coolant, I drove the car to the parking lot of a local store approximately 1.5 miles. When I pulled into the parking lot, the car was steaming up again so I parked it out a ways from the store. I noticed that the smoke was a bit black and thick, so I opened the hood and saw the plastic engine cover was on fire. I started throwing snow on it when someone came by with a fire extinguisher, so I used it to put the fire out. A tow truck driver took the vehicle to the closest Ford dealer about 1 mile from the parking lot.

Recall performed (17S09) coolant sensor upgrade. The new sensor but the vehicle in (limp mode) can not drive it even though the coolant level was in the normal operating level. The mechanic indicated that a leak in the top hose was the issue and that there was a redesign of a known issue.lucky the vehicle was parked and had to be towed back to the dealership.

Over the course of 1 year, vehicle in the shop 9 times for 109 days. On 7-6-2017- car would not accelerate & low power light on. 8-23-2017- vehicle overheating, goes in to limp mode, high temperature gauge goes up. 12-26-2017-towed in as car would not start. Coolant leak, quick connector to heater core and bypass valve leaking. 2-27-2018- check engine light on, cylinder misfire, cylinder head high temperature, low engine coolant, coolant level sensor 3-16-18- coolant light comes on, found upper coolant hose leak, check engine light on 3-19-18- towed in- low coolant and temperature light on, no heat, vehicle shuts off. 4-4-18- coolant level low light on.water pump was leaking. 4-19-18- check engine light on. Technician verified ses light on, found misfirecodes &coolant code but coolant was full, was advised to stop back in 2 weeks to check coolant. Called Ford certified garage at the 2 week date & was told they were too busy to bring vehicle in for a check. 5-14-2018- check engine light on--engine misfiring, removed spark plugs and colis to boresope engine, found coolant in cylinder 1, removed cylinder head for further inspection, map sensor contaminated, found cylinder head porosity, likely due to overheating.my total in repairs and towing: $4000+ in one year. Feel all issues were related to recall 17V209000 regarding the engine and engine cooling, which stated if the vehicle is started and driven with an insufficient level of coolant within the system, the engine cylinder head may overheat and crack:

Engine light came on one day then went off the next day. A week later went to get routine oil change and was notified of oil in coolant and possible head gasket cracked as well. They recommended take it to mechanic next door. Apparently the engine cylinder head overheated and cracked. Oil leaked into other systems in engine contaminated valves, intakes, spark plugs etc. Could have combusted causing fire at any moment. Mechanic told us to have it towed to Ford not safe to drive 3 miles. Got car fixed at Ford dealership for $3551.09. The following week we received a recall notice for our other 2014 Ford Escape built in same louisville factory a few weeks earlier than the just repaired Escape. Got the recall addressed on that vehicle but Ford says the VIN for the one I just paid for has not been identified for the recall! really"?"

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 30 minutes at 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact took the vehicle to tasca Ford seekonk (200 fall river ave, seekonk, MA 02771, (800)-737-0435) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 28,000.

A recall was initiated for my car for localized overheating in engine cylinder causing cylinder head to crack, and pressurized oil leaks that can result in a fire in the engine compartment. I initially brought my car in for my engine overheating where my car was giving me a warning sign to pull over and immediately turn off my car. They replaced the coolant hose. Two months later the same issue occurred and they then replaced the coolant tank. Fast forward one year and the issue began to happen once again. I took my car back in and the coolant tank was replaced for the second time in may of 2018. I had no issues until December of 2018 where once again the car gave me the same warning sign and once again needs the coolant hose replaced due to it leaking. They have told me I am responsible for replacing this on my own and paying for it. Each time I have been driving when this issue occurs and I have to immediately pull over and turn my car off to avoid further damage as well and I cannot drive my car for numerous days while I wait for them to repair it. I want to figure out a solution moving forward because clearly this car is not being fixed even when I take it in over and over again.

January 9, 2019 at 10:39pm my 2014 Ford Escape caught on fire. Driving down interstate 81, going speed limit 70 mph, vehicle shut off and said "service engine now". steering and brakes did not lock up but the vehicle lost rpms and was not running as I pulled over to the right hand shoulder, I was in the left hand lane when my vehicle shut off. As I stopped, I put vehicle in park and turned key off, all while it said "service engine now". I turned my hazards on and got out my phone to call someone for help. As I looked up I seen flames coming from the windshield wiper area and smoke in front of my lights, I grabbed my work bag and jumped out of the vehicle, jumped across the guard rail, and immediately called 911 from a safe distance. In approximately 6-9 minutes the entire front end of my vehicle was engulfed in flames as I was on the phone with 911. Took responders about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive and to put out the fire. As soon as responders finally showed, I could hear both tires explode a few minutes apart from each other. Once fire was safely put out, the entire front end of my vehicle was melted and the inside as well was beyond recognizable. I was told my vehicle is totalled, obviously, and I got a tow to take vehicle to my house where the 2014 Ford Escape is sitting in my yard. I figured my insurance company might come look at it but they didn't because all I had was liability on it. I did not know until a couple days later there was in fact a recall on my vehicle, due to risk of engine fire.

While driving the car usually going up a hill the temperature gauge quickly goes up and shows the car is overheating and all kinds of warnings sounds and visual notices go off telling me to stop the car and park safely. This has happened 3 times. The last time this happened 2 days ago I could put the car into gear but it would not engage and go forward or backward and I had to coast to a stop and pull over to the side of the road and have it towed.
