The vehicle was being driven and had only been started and moving for less than 5 minutes. Noticed that windshield wipers would not shut off or change speeds, then noticed a slight odor in car that increasingly strengthened. Phoned my husband while at a stop light, odor of something burning became much stronger, then noticed smoke coming between the the drivers side hood seam and between the hood and the windshield, this was immediately followed by noticable flame. I put the vehicle in park, turned on hazard lights and exited the vehicle. Local police and fire department responded, began with small fire extinguishers, without success and fire department opened hood and applied water to extinguish. This was on a city street in O'fallon, mo. Uncertain of cause, but am now aware that Ford issued a recall on this model (recall 17S09) and believe this could be a possibility.

My car had a check engine light come on when I turned it on one day. It was on the weekend so I had to wait until Monday to get diagnostics at my local dealer. The car started to run really rough and was slipping. I took it to my local Ford dealer and they told me that my head gasket was blown and leaking antifreeze everywhere. I am currently awaiting to see if the head is cracked to which I'm told is common with this issue and this car. There was a recall for this in the same year my car was made, however, my car was not included into this recall in is now my responsibility financially to fix this.

My battery died. It was jumped and working, but the car was not drivable because the 'hot engine' message was on. It was towed to Firestone. They put a new battery in, but the 'hot engine ' light was still on. I found a recall about the coolant system on the internet. 17S09. The car was towed to huntersville Ford dealership. They have had it for 24 hours and have not called or returned my calls.

Driving our Escape, with 58,800 miles, on a road trip had check engine light come on. We drove it to a close repair shop and found out coolant leaked into head gasket #3 causing over heating damage and replacement of cylinder head would be required. Ford dealer would not help repair or replace or even diagnose. Recall fix 17S09 (NHTSA 17V-209) did not fix the potential danger or damage. The coolant leak still happened causing engine failure and a worthless car at 58,800 miles.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. While driving and pulling into a parking spot, the vehicle shut off and was towed to the contact's home. The following day, the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, but it shut off again. The vehicle was taken to crossroads Ford of prince george (4500 whitehill blvd, prince george, va 23875, (877) 331-9405). The contact was advised to use rolling stops to avoid the vehicle shutting off. The vehicle shut off in the dealer's parking lot. The dealer replaced the oxygen sensors after performing a small test drive. It was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer for almost two weeks. The total cost for the repairs was over $4,200. The vehicle was currently at the dealer awaiting repairs. The failure mileage was 79,000. The VIN was invalid.

While the vehicle was undergoing an inspection, the contact was informed that the check engine warning indicator was illuminated and the turbo engine was not reading the correct code, which caused the vehicle to fail inspection. The contact called herb chambers Ford of braintree (located at 75 granite street rte 37, braintree, MA 021847, 781-848-1350) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall and they were not sure if it was included in a warranty. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Current issue is head gasket overheated and blew. Coolant is internally leaking into the engine. Car blows out a ton of exhaust while driving and has the smell of coolant in it. I can't even drive on the highway anymore because the car overheats and limits my speed to 45 mph. Sometimes I have to pull over just to let it cool down. Every time the car starts up it vibrates so much that its quite annoying. Sometimes the car shuts off right after I start it in the morning, right after a crazy burst of vibration. A little over a month ago I started my car and it vibrated so much and then so much oil leaked from my car, exhaust blew out dark black smog and smoke was coming from my hood. Car is really loud on idle, never been in a car so loud with so much vibration all throughout the car. Car constantly overheats and has no power when driving. Car vibrates insanely when I'm idle at a red light. Check engine light goes on and off every other day. My mechanic has done research on the car and says to get rid of it, it's not even worth fixing; he says you'll end up spending just as much money fixing this in the long run than just buying a new car. My mechanic said fixing the head gasket wont solve your problem, you need an entire new engine and cylinder block. We've been doing a lot of research on this car/model and everyone's having the same issues and can't really get down to the bottom line on what's wrong with the vehicle. I'm curious if everyone has the same problem with this car/model that there's no major recall on it. Instead people are driving around with a loud car that constantly vibrates, leaks coolant into the engine and having to constantly take it to the shop.

The driver smelled and observed smoke emitting from the hood. A fire occurred under the hood and the driver was able to locate a fire extinguisher and put out the flames himself. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not able to be driven. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was towed to sonju all american superstore (located at 893 scenic dr, two harbors, mn 55616, (218) 834-2101) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 73,589.

My 2014 Ford Escape with the 1.6L ecoboost has a safety recall for cracking of the cylinder head, there fix for this only to place a coolant sensor in the coolant reservoir. So I had the recall installed, not long after I stared having issues with lossing coolant. Next if stared missing well I took it in and the dealer said "you have a cracked engine block" when ask to prove the block was cracked they could not, and the dealer also told me that, "they have to replace the engine even if its only a head" so Ford is making to where the costumer is responsable for replacing the engine. Then after I got my car back 2 months later, my streering had a catch occasionally then started locking up completely and happend to be stationary or very low speeds when it did lock up. So I take it back to Ford dealer again they say I have to pay for every thing so when I go to do the work myself I descoviored they completly left of the shroud under the car that channals cold air between the exhust and electronic steering gear. So took it back and made the dealer replace the part. The dealer told me this is a comon problem. This is defentley a safety issue that needs addressed!!!

My vehicle started to overheat and smoke up. A mechanic looked at the vehicle and thought it was the vacuum pump or something close to that name. I can fill up my coolant to the max line and drive and be empty within minutes. Then I noticed a recall for Ford Escapes concerning a coolant problem and I am worried. This vehicle is brand new to me (only 2 years) and still under 6 years old. I am afraid that my vehicle will combust with my kids in it. We cant find where the coolant is coming from and its a real scare.

While driving the vehicle and traveling on a busy highway the vehicle would not shift into gear to move with traffic. Vehicle lost power. A few days later on another busy highway driving approximately 60 miles an hour, the computer read transmission failed. My mileage was 59,647 which was under the 60,000 warranty but out of date. I purchased the car with 49,443 miles on 8/1/18. I immediately brought the car to sunny side motors a authorized Ford dealership and had the transmission failed message diagnosis done at the cost of $159.95 to find out the repair would cost me $2712.19 which would not be cover under the 60,000 mile warranty. The test retrieve code P1744 for torque converter clutch performed, pressure dropping out of spec when warm checked fluid condition and found torque converter clutch damaged causing internal contamination and needs internal repairs. Being a single women at 72 years of age, and being a survivor of a near fatal accident in January of 2018, which took me 8 months to get back behind a wheel of a car I once again find myself feeling unsafe driving a car that just randomly loses power. After reading many complaints with the same existing problems as I am experiencing I am very concerned why this problem has not been a factory recall. Very unsafe when driving and you lose power. Hopefully a recall will be issued based on the many complaints that have been placed. The 1st dealership I visited in westborough MA had a wait time of 3 weeks to diagnose the problem.

Took car to queens NY Ford service center 4 hours later $400 later, changed cabin filter and sprayed fragrance on it. Told must use cabin recycle air function. Ford owners manual doesnt say must use and in no other car have had to must use this function. I have a case# cas24667125 and appt for 11/6/19. Ford built this car tech's should know how to fix this!

The vehicle was restarted, but failed to drive. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the torque convertor pump seal was leaking dark brown oil with metal fluid inside the engine. The technician informed the contact that the vehicle's sensors would cause the engine to overheat and catch fire. The contact stated that the technician repaired the leak, but the computer sensor was not repaired. The contact called antelope valley Ford (1155 auto mall dr, lancaster, ca 93534, (888) 415-0959) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
