Driver side door check arm sounds broken. Opened driver side door picking up dinner and it made loud popping cracking sound then felt like it dropped off hinge some so I lifted up quickly to close door. It-??s not latching properly. Inable to operate driver side window as I tried to roll window to check mail and it made a sound and stopped about half way so I pushed up and rolled it back up. Afraid to open door in the morning.

The problem appears to be related to defective spot welds at the check arm attachment point on left driver door. The window doesn't go down and the door doesn't shut all the way. Needs to be a recall ASAP before more accidents happen to everyday citizens!

The driver's side door has been making creaking and popping sounds for over a year and most recently the driver's side door window only goes down half way. Took the vehicle to the Ford dealership where the car was purchased and informed them of the problem and the SSM 50150 for 2020-2021 Escapes. After inspecting the interior of the door, they found that the check arm had detached and that what was causing the noise and the window to not be able to lower. The vehicle has 29,347 and was purchased in May 2020. They said the vehicle is out of warranty on the date (not mileage) and would not be covered although it's apparent the failure was occurring over several months.

I OWN A 2020 FORD ESCAPE. The Driver's Front Door started making a loud popping sound when opened and then it wouldn't close all of the way. It was hard to close but finally did. It kept making the popping noise louder every time it was opened and shut. Then, the Driver's Front Window failed to go down more than an inch and a half to two inches. It wouldn't roll up every time it was rolled down the couple of inches either. I took it to Mike White Ford Dealership in Coeur d'Alene, ID where I was informed that the welds on the control arm of the Driver's Door had failed and broken so the car needed to go to a body shop to be repaired. The dealership said that none of this is covered by my warranties.

Problem with 2020 Ford escape door hinge. It happened about 1,000 miles after warranty ended. Repair shop took pictures and sent to Ford. Ford said it was out of warranty. Since then window will not go down and door is harder and harder to close and lock. 10/9/23 took to be serviced because check engine light would come on and off intermittently along with other messages. They found multiple codes for lost communication. They reprogrammed them. Ford also recommended to reprogram instrument panel. They told me because of door I may still get messages. I still get message about low windshield washer fluid. This is intermittently too. 1/22/24 took car to be inspected. They are concerned about the door. Got call they are trying to replace a part in door but having problems. Car is still at garage.

The driver side door of my 2020 Ford Escape is making a popping noise as the door opens and closes. I have researched that this may be caused by cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly.

The door hinge on the driver side of my 2020 Ford escape snapped causing damage to my window. The spot welds broke. Even though Ford is aware that this is an ongoing problem with this make and model and I pay for an extended warranty. They refused to cover this and are telling me I have to pay for it out of pocket. This door hinge broke about a month ago and I called Ford and they told me that they would not cover it at all. I even called corporate office for Ford and they told me they would not cover it upon bringing my vehicle to formula Ford in Rutland Vermont to have inspected. They refuse to inspect my car, took it to a body shop to have an estimate provided to me and said that they might be able to have Ford cover it upon getting the estimate and contacting ford They refused to pay for it repair and will not inspect my car. I feel that this is unfair since it-??s nothing I did to break this door. It-??s just really crappy craftsmanship.

Approximately 1/4/2024 The front drivers side door is broken. The bolts broke off on the inside.I had no prior warning, I went to open my door and a huge clunk sound happened and it was difficult to open, there was friction, opening it all the way is causing friction and I don-??t want the door to fall off. Also it-??s causing the automatic window not to work now, that only is opening half way. I took it to the dealer to assess the problem and it-??s the left door asy, I looked this up online and it-??s stating Ford is aware of this problem but still hasn-??t issued a recall. I do not want my door to fall off, especially if I-??m driving and this happened. This is also a huge financial burden on anyone, please can you help with this situation. Thank you

Opened the driver's door and heard a crunching sound and the door could not be opened all the way. Along with that the rear back window would not close and the driver's window went up slowly. Went to the dealership and they say it is a known problem, but they don't have any recalls about them so out of pocket it would cost me upwards of 2000 for the window regulators and 5,000 to replace the door which is a known problem.

Yesterday when I opened my driver side door there was a grinding/popping noise. I looked on-line and saw that it is the door check defect on the 2020 and 2021 escapes that is an issue with the welding. I called the dealership today and they said because it is over the milage for the warranty that it will not be covered. Ford issued a Technical Service Bulletin TSB-SSM 50150 but there is not a recall and there are several class action lawsuits regarding the issues. I was told to file a report with your agency.

The AWD module (LX6Z 7P238 AANP MODULE) went out on my 2020 Ford Escape. One day when starting my car several warnings popped up on the screen. The warnings were -??AWD off-??, -??Pre-collision assist not available-??, -??Service Advanced Trac-??, -??AWD fault service required-??, -??Up hill assist not available-?? -??Traction control system fault or not available?-?? and the wrench on the dashboard lit up. After googling the issue I found other 2020 Escape owners with the same problem. They all had to have the AWD MODULE replaced. Ford even recalled a select few 2020 Escapes for this issue, even though many more are having the same issue with not many miles on them. Called Ford to get in for a diagnostic and informed them what warnings were flashing. They confirmed it was the AWD MODULE causing the issue and replaced it. The cost was $835.14. Since AWD and traction control were disabled it made the vehicle dangerous to drive in slippery conditions. With the uphill assist disabled, that also made it more dangerous. The safety feature, Pre-collision assist, being disabled put my family and others in danger. Since replacing the Module all the warnings have stopped and everything seems to be back to normal. Ford is aware of this issue and is not taking responsibility for installing faulty AWD modules.

The Spot Weld on the Driver side door is broke. based on information read this is an issue on this vehicle where the hinge breaks where the spot weld is suppose to hold. Has to be replaced and cost is $2400. Dealership said they have repaired a lot of these doors/Hinges. Asking to pay $2400 on an issue that Ford knows. They have a notice 50150 fro NHTSA that it is a known issue. Looking to help in reimbursing. per the site--- the spot welds' failure in the door's arm. In interviews with owners, NHTSA learned of 25 "minor injuries" and 1 report of "minor property damage." Some people have reported a popping noise when the door comes open and say that the door can be unable to latch when closed or can suddenly come open when it had been closed. According to the safety agency's investigation document, the problem is believed to be faulty spot welds in the check arm attachment points on the doors. As one example, an owner reported to NHTSA that "The driver side front door made a creaking sound, could not be opened, and the window would not go down. The internal weld to the door failed."
