We have an exhaust leak in our vehicle new exhaust system done once, sealed 3X. Ford corporate or dealership will not work with us to replace the vehicle. All happened under original manufacturer warranty. Exhaust comes into passenger cabin upon excelling. Now we have to drive with a window open as to know be consumed by carbon monoxide. Spouse has had mri for dizziness, confusion, headaches. Testing came back normal but no blood work was done for carbon monoxide poisioning.

When driving, there's an odor that sometimes get really strong. You can really smell it when the ac is on recirculate. It so bad at times, I have to roll down the windows. My wife has been getting head aches from riding in the car as well. We have 3 children, this is getting to be a serious concern to us L, as it could be harming our children. It happens all the time at any speed.

My 2015 Ford Explorer fills with exhaust fumes anytime I accelerate hard, such as passing, accelerating to get on the interstate ("on ramp") etc. I have taken the vehicle to the Ford dealership 5 times. They allegedly changed the tailgate gaskets twice and rear part of exhaust system and who knows what. The car still does it. I have to roll down the windows to clear out the fumes. I become very sleepy while driving the vehicle at times. I have scared myself several times, drifting out of my lane. I partially wind down the windows. We have been suffering with this for 2-3 years. One day I was driving with all of the windows down and accelerated a little hard to where the transmission down shifted and the whole cabin filled with fumes. So the problem must be coming from the front and not the back. Coming from the engine compartment and not the exhaust pipes or defective tailgate gaskets. Please advise. Thank you

Vehicle leaking exhaust into cabin!! while in motion with ac on after 1 hour or more drive on highway--symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning present. Brought into Ford dealer who gave me the run around about mouldings. Either way, myself and my infant have been exposed to lace on monoxide while driving this vehicle that we purchased less than 1.5 years ago. Have experienced these symptoms a number or times, like while pregnant but thought it was morning sickness U til this summer when I was physically ill twice as a result of highway travel.

While driving on the highway I passed out and drove off the highway. I was jolted awake after hitting bumps on the side on the road. I forced a semi off the road. Regained control and stopped at the next exit. Took car to Ford dealer and found tsb 16-0165 related to issue. Had car repaired, I'm not really sure if it is fixed.

Since leasing this car new in 2015, we have experienced on many occasions, especially after acceleration, a strong exhaust smell enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Being an automotive instructor, I was able to access technical service bulletins regarding this issue but they were related to modifications to the rear air conditioning unit. We experienced the smell even with the ac off. I am very concerned about the long term health effects of the deadly exhaust gases entering the cabin and being exposed to my family including children and grandchildren. I also find it ridiculous that a manufacturer with a long history of Ford Motor Company would allow this to go on for so long as I have learned.

Although the current exhaust recall identifies years 2011-16, I experience exhaust fumes in the cabin of my 2015 Ford Explorer. I travel as a sale rep, I get a good night sleep, but at time find myself feeling sleepy at times on long highway trips, and at times can smell exhaust upon acceleration. I purchased the vehicle December 2010 / January 2011.

August 24, 2015 I was driving to a 7:00 pm exercise class.I was talking to my mother via bluetooth when I suddenly blacked out and drove across the service road and all 4 lanes both North and South of 287. I wake to emergency responders pulling me from the car and putting me into a ambulance, my mother could hear all of this. I was taken to hospital and had multiple tests run but nothing was found. After I was discharged I had several more tests run and again nothing was found. $18,000 damage to car, medical bills, missed work and I had to retest to keep my drivers license but I never could find a cause. Spring 2017 a friend sent me a article about Ford Explorer leaking carbon monoxide into the cabins. This made complete sense. I purchased a detector and have had it to go off twice. I am reporting this because Ford needs to address this issue. They have said this only happens in modified police vehicles but I can tell you by my experience that is not true.

Evidence of carbon monoxide coming into the cabin of my Ford Explorer - please be advised I leased a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT from al packer Ford in West palm beach Florida on 3-21-2015. Immediately after purchasing the vehicle when I got on the highway to drive home I smelled a burning smell and thought it may be the typical engine burnoff smell that happens on some new cars. After the burning smell continued for many months after rapid acceleration of the car, I took the car to the fire department. Multiple firemen rode with me in the car and tested the vehicle for carbon monoxide with their drager X-am 2500. The device came back positive for carbon monoxide in the vehicle. The carbon monoxide levels appear as soon as you accelerate. The fire department tested 3 minutes of driving but within 3 minutes the level got to 38 ppm. I bought my own co detector after that and have seen levels get higher into the 50's after driving 20 minutes and making multiple accelerations. I didnt want to continue the testing further as I was concerned for my health. I have both the fire department fire incident report stating that carbon monoxide was building in the car, along with a service invoice from al packer Ford stating that a carbon monoxide tester shows evidence of exhaust fumes in the vehicle. I kept bringing the car back to Ford multiple times complaining, I brought the service employees in the vehicle with me and showed them the co readings. They stated their service department did not have a co meter. Each time they tried to fix the problem with no success. I started the lemon law process but Ford made the process so difficult that while I was waiting for the engineer to come out to see the car I traded it in. I was in fear of my family's health breathing in the constant exhaust fumes that were coming in my vehicle every time I did a rapid acceleration.
