It looks like there will have to be a number of injuries or deaths before a recall is put in effect here. I have a Ford F150 supercrew 2004, the driver's side window dropped and shattered suddenly while driving in heavy traffic with a loud noise and shattered glass. I thought I was shot at, at the time and was very lucky there was not a serious accident killing and injuring many people. Kids were crying and all inside vehicle were very upset. Afterwards I removed the window glass and the regulator assembly and the problem is the plastic clips that hold the control cables in place. They appear to be cheap and fragile and obviously break easily and for no reason, letting the cables come out of their guides and therefore dropping the window unexpectedly. I have taken numerous pictures if anyone from Ford, NHTSA or anyone else would like to see. This incident really screwed up a otherwise great day because of shoddy engineering and quality from a american car company (Ford). I am in the process of buying and replacing this window regulator myself at a cost of $187 + tax + time + inconvenience with no assurance this will not happen again.

While driving I heard a loud, metallic-sounding pop from one of my doors, followed by the window sliding down into the door. The window would not respond to the power window button. The local dealership performing the repair has quoted the power window regulator assembly as being the problem, and quoted $450 to replace the defective part.

On Thursday, August 13, 2009, I was putting my son in my truck to head off to work. As we pulled away, he started saying something about the window. I looked back and the window next to him was down about 3 inches. By the time we got to his daycare, the window was all the way down. I had to go back home, pull the window up and jam it into place. I won't be able to take it in until Monday. This is at least the 5th time a window has fallen on this truck in three years and I have also had to have the rear power sliding window motor replaced twice. The previous occurrences have been under either factory or extended warranty, but this one will not be. Fortunately none of them have happened while I was driving like other drivers I have seen on this website. How many more people need to complain before the Agency takes action? this is obviously a big problem as well as an expensive problem.

I attempted to put my passenger side window down & it crashed down into the door with the glass shattering as it dropped into the door frame. Approximately two years ago I had the drivers side window looked at it sounded strange on operation. Ford dealers disagreed. One month later the window failed to operate & Ford fixed the window at their cost. I also had them check all of the other windows because they too did not sound correct when operating and nothing was found wrong at that time. I am now without a window & will contact Ford about this problem & hope they will fix it at their expense as I feel this should not be my responsibility for a truck that is only 5 yrs old.

When I started my truck, I rolled down the rear drivers side window and when I pushed the button to roll up the window I heard a pop and then a sound like something fell inside the door. The window will not roll up. Now the window slides down by itself.

I have a 2004 F140 supercrew 4X4. Last week I heard a pop come from my passenger side rear door and not a minute later my window fell down in the door. Two days later I heard the same pop come from my passenger side front door. Two regulators popped with in three days. I can't afford to fix them right now so I'm riding around with vise grips holding my windows up. This is ridiculous. This is the second Ford pickup that I've had this problem with. Ford really needs to issue a recall.

While driving on freeway, left rear window regulator failed and window glass fell from the closed position with a loud boom. As a result of the loud crashing of the falling window glass at freeway speeds combined with the sudden and violent gust of wind and debris into the cab nearly caused me to loose control, and roll over. This is the third incident I have experienced with window regulator failure on this truck.

Started in June 2008 with driver's window dropping into door. July 2008 rear driver's side window did same. Now July 18, 2009 rear passenger's window did same. Each time dealer refuses to say that its a problem. Say mine is the only truck doing this. Truck only has 36,000 miles.

I was in the neighborhood, 3 houses away, when an oncoming car came. I swerved my passenger side mirror then struck a mailbox. The passenger window was down. In the process, on impact, the glass from the mirror exploded. When the mirror exploded, only then, the shattered glass flew into the window cutting a vane in my right arm. I bleed profusely for 20 min. I managed to slow down the bleeding but eventually went to medical center then to the hospital. Glass flew into and fragments of glass penetrated the seats in the vehicle and clothing on the body.

I have a 2004 Ford F-150 FX4. I bought this truck last September and it has 42000 miles on it. For the past week my window has been making a grinding sound like maybe sand in the parts when I roll it down. Today the window popped and fell down. I feel this is a safety hazard to me or any passengers. I took the door panel off and the pieces that look broken are plastic. I refuse to pay $400 to get it fixed.

My drivers side window just fell open while driving and would not go back up. After investigating the power window unit had broken. 7 days later the same thing happened to the rear passenger window. The dealer told me this is common and is a defect but Ford refuses to recall them. The dealer said it will most likely happen to your other 2 windows as well! $400 each to repair.

I have a 2004 Ford F150 lariat supercrew. On 6/11/09 I rolled all the windows down to air out the vehicle and then rolled them back up and heard a loud pop coming from the right rear window. Then the glass just fell down into the door. On 6/22/09, the same thing happened to the left rear window. After searching on-line I discovered that this is a very common problem with other owners of Ford F-150S. I then called Ford and they would not do anything to resolve the issue. I hope you guys can make them bear responsibility for these obvious defects.
