F-150

  • 95,000 miles
Travelling in 30-35mph zone when all power drops - the dash screen lit up orange with the wrench icon, engine light came on, throttle response was lost which made the truck slow down. I veered over into the turn lane as the truck came to a stop. When it stopped, it was idling very roughly. The throttle was barely responsive... I could only inch forward (even if I floored it), but that's about it. I shut the truck off, waited 10 seconds, turned it back on, and all was well. This has happened 3 times in 3 weeks. I would not want to be on the highway when this happens.

  • 56,601 miles
While driving about 45 mph on a city road the truck suddenly downshifted into either 1st or 2nd gear. This caused a sudden slow down and loss of power while in traffic. The powertrain warning indicator light flashed and my truck went into limp mode for the remainder of the ride home. After parking my truck and re starting the vehicle, no warning indicators are visible, check engine light is not on and the truck seems to be operating normal. I contacted Ford customer service and they said my truck was under the recall, but no fix was currently available. Ford customer service then told me to take my truck to a dealership and they would tell me if it was safe to continue to drive. Quick recap: The truck downshifted, sudden slow down, recall states this may cause loss of control of vehicle, Ford says no fix available at this time, Ford also says take it to a dealership even though they admit the dealership cant fix it. Ford also refused to provide documentation stating the vehicle was or was not safe to drive.

The contact heard a loud, abnormal noise when trying to accelerate more than 10 mph. The contact also stated that the power train fault warning indicator was illuminated and the transmission temperature was between 180 to 190 degrees. Also, on another occasion, the vehicle began to hesitate and turned off while driving. The vehicle was unable to be driven. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. • 116,800 miles
While accelerating quickly, but not so much as to spin the tires, the vehicle started "bucking". I was doing about 35-40 when it got pretty bad. The engine felt as if it was stopping and starting very quickly. It was actually pretty hard to control and it causes the truck to not allow me to accelerate onto the highway or even reach highway speeds. The check engine light started flashing and did not stop flashing for about 2 minutes. The truck would also not let me accelerate for that amount of time either.

Since purchased new the engine will intermittently completely shut down especially during damp weather. It has spent weeks at different dealerships yet the problem persists. The engine will sputter and kill taking with it the power steering, brakes, and lights. It is still an issue today. The other problem that is really concerning is the automatic transmission will suddenly shift itself into first gear at highway speeds and send rpms racing for no reason. I was told by my dealership V&H in marshfield that they 'reprogrammed' the transmission but that still happens from time to time. All of these things happened mainly at highway speeds with the engine being most common during wet weather. It happens rather frequently with the last episode being on 8/12/19

The recall was to be resolved by end of second quarter 2019. VIN: [xxx] year: 2013 make: Ford model: F-150 number of open recalls: 1 NHTSA recall number: Opens new window takes away from VIN lookup section> awaiting# recall date: February 12, 2019 manufacturer recall number: 19S07 summary: On your vehicle, an intermittent failure of the output speed sensor (oss) in the transmission may result in an unintended downshift to first gear. 1. while driving at highway speeds (around 70 mph) the vehicle suddenly down-shifted into 2nd gear. The rear tires briefly locked up, but control of the vehicle was managed. 2. while driving, both in town and on the highway, the vehicle would downshift from 6th gear to 5th. The vehicle would then not shift below 3rd gear when brought to a stop. Turning the vehicle off and on again would reset the problem. The maintenance light and airbag light illuminated. The speedometer went to 0. the odometer and other digital readings in the center cluster on the dash showed all dashes. After several of these events, the check engine light also illuminated. 3. after one of the events described in 2 above, the vehicle was stopped, shifted into reverse, and then returned to drive. The vehicle would not move and acted as though it was in neutral. Shutting the vehicle off and on again corrected the problem. The local Ford dealership is aware of the problem and has scheduled an appointment for a diagnosis. Ford safety recall notice 19S07 was performed in March 2019. Ford safety recall notice 19S19 was performed in July 2019, after the first event, but did not correct the issue.
