Transmission cooling lines in the 2009-2014 Ford F150 seems to have a known issue of failing near the connector lines by the radiator. My truck has just over 70k miles and just blew without notice (regular neighborhood driving). The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH, the infotainment system display disappeared, the icons on the instrument panel became darkened, the vehicle stalled, the transmission shifted unintentionally, and the transmission sensor was inoperable. Several unstated warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The failure reoccurred on several occasions. I was traveling on the highway at a speed of 70 mph, when out of nowhere my truck downshifted to first gear; causing me to swerve to the side of the road. I had my vehicle towed to a shop where I was informed it was a module for the transmission and lead case which caused the malfunction. Upon doing the research I learned that it was a recall from the plant which my truck came from. Had repairs done at the tune of $5320. Also was told by a consumer service representative that I qualified for reimbursement, but then was told that my vehicle was not part of the recall which specifically displayed the exact symptoms and malfunctions of said recall-24S37.

I took my 2013 Ford F150 in on Feb. 15, 2019 due to a recall. They reprogrammed the software, only took a few minutes. This is recall #19S07. It was due to the truck possibly shifting from any gear into first gear suddenly. Very dangerous. I did not have that problem before or since the recall until one week ago. Pulling onto the highway, RPM's went very high (3500-4000) even though I was only going est. 25 MPH. My speedometer showed "0". This problem comes and goes and now I feel completely unsafe driving my truck. I contacted Ford customer service and I do not think they will fix this unless I cover the tab. I feel that this is unfair. I have taken it in and left it all day but they did not get to it, my local Ford dealer is out until mid November for service. My truck now gets stuck in first gear or downshifts into first gear and the instrument display goes wacky, no speedometer, etc. I noticed a green wrench icon light up yesterday when this happened. Over 1.2 million F-150's had this problem. Over 100,000 trucks did not receive the proper PCU reprogram and need new reprogramming. I believe my truck is one of these as I am now having the exact issues that the recall was supposed to solve. Fortunately, I have not been travelling at high speeds when this happens but this problem can cause the transmission to shift from any gear at any speed into first gear, which could be life threatening. According to Ford, it is the powertrain control module software that causes this problem. Trucks built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, 4/28, 2010 to 10/28, 2013 and Kansas City Assembly Plant, 5/18, 2010 to 11/18, 2013 have this problem. My truck's manufacture date is March 2013 so it falls into both of these timeframes. I feel that this is a severe safety issue and could result in serious injury or even death. I think that because the 2019 service recall did not solve the issue, since my truck has these exact things going on with it, Ford is responsible. Thnx

The 2013 Ford F150 we bought has had nothing but problems with it when we bought it. We did have one recall done on the transmission. We took it back in to the ford dealer and they confirmed now that the transmission is bad and is $7,000 to repair. There should be a recall done on the transmission completely as the transmission should not be bad on a 2013 ford vehicle. When driving the truck it would shift really hard going in to 4th gear. This definitely is a safety issue as we have not been able to even drive this truck on the freeway due to shifting so hard.

One year ago I experienced my truck down shift to 1st gear suddenly, my truck shut off and a yellow wrench appeared on the dash. I restarted the truck and it ran fine for a week before this happened again. I found a notice from Ford that the NHTSA had required Ford to fix this issue. I took my truck to the local Ford dealer, but they couldn't find the associated code for the problem. They did replace a transmission module. This past week, while driving 65 mph, my truck suddenly down shifted to 1st gear and nearly caused an accident with the vehicles behind me. The same yellow wrench appeared and my truck turned off. This time, at the Ford dealer, they found the code that matched up to the NHTSA alert but they said the repair requirement had expired. I paid $1350 for a lead frame replacement. This is exactly the repair required, but Ford would not stand behind the required repair. Do I have any recourse through NHTSA?

While at highway speeds my truck has recently started downshifting to 1st gear. I've contacted Ford, Ford dealers and provided them with my VIN number and I keep being told my VIN is not included in the recent recall Ford issued. I find it disheartening to say the least that Ford will not acknowledge this! How can they single out just one year model and not all the years that have the exact transmission (6R80) and fix them all. The molded lead frame is the problem! My truck is a 2013 that is exhibiting the exact issues that Ford describes in their recent recall for only 2014 models, but yet my truck is not included. And I am afraid to drive my truck down the road after it locked the tires at 70 mph today when it decided to downshift to 1st gear! UNBELIEVEABLE! How many more crashes, injuries and possibly even deaths have to happen before someone holds Ford Motor Companies feet to the fire and fixes ALL of these lead frames? I am going to be forced to purchase this part and fix it in my garage because I am too afraid to go anywhere in it now after what happened today! Everyone of these transmissions need to be recalled and fixed! It is a MAJOR safety issue!

2011-2013 Ford F150 models with 6R80 Transmissions have a mechanical defect in the Molded Lead Frame and Output Speed Sensor (OSS). It was recalled under 19N01B and a safety recall 19S07. I have had several incidents over the past year (2023-2024). When the OSS isn't read the truck will display a orange Wrench symbol and the truck will enter Limp Mode and although it continues to run it has very limited power and the speed and tachometer gauges go to zero. I have had this happen 2x times, both times it is a frightning occurance since it happens suddenly and usually in the flow of traffic. pulling to the side of the road and restarting the truck will clear the problem. I have also had the problem when starting out from a stop light and find the engine revs, but limited forward speed. The transmission will not upshift from 2nd or 3rd gear since the OSS is not reading and the transmission module doesn't know when to shift. Again pulling over and restarting the truck fixes the problem. This has occured 2x time in the past year also. I have taked the truck into a repair facility who has checked it out and could not duplicate the problem. I have had a code scanner connected since the first incident in September 2023, but no codes have thrown. The latest incident August 2024 I did see the Wrench symbol, lost power at appoximently 50mph. The code scanner recorded a P0720 pending code. I took the truck into Les Stumpt Ford for diagnosis. They found no problem and suggested I just keep driving it or replace the Lead Frame. The warranty for Lead Frame replacement ran out in 2019. I did argue that since this is a known mechanical defect Ford should cover it, but without a recall there is no method for a dealer to cover the defect. This is a startling occurance when the problem occurs and since it is well known at Ford i believe it should be a Ford repair. My truck is scheduled for Lead Frame replacement Sept 15th.

The truck lost power to the wheels. Dealership said transmission was destroyed. Only the dealership inspected the parts. The wrench came on 3 miles before the truck lost power.
