Car downshifting into first gear at random while driving causing instant loss of power, braking due to gear change and high revving of engine. When it occurs at highway speed it nearly causes my truck to stop and will not shift into proper gear. Truck continues to rev at nearly 6-7 thousand rpm and puts stress on transmission and motor. Terrifying to be behind the wheel when this occurs

I was driving on highway at 65 miles per hour when my truck suddenly downshifted to first gear and stopped it took a secknds to get the truck going again. I was almost rear ended it was very heart stopping. I dont know why there was a recall on just the 2011-2013 Trucks. My vehicle was built at the Deerfield MI plant same as the others just November of 2013 instead of October 2013 when they closed out the recall. I tried to get it analyzed by a Ford dealership but they gave no appointments for over month out in May! I need my vehicle for work. I'm an essential employee with USPS. Luckily I am close to my office and can take back roads, I can not drive this on the highway! They need to recall all vehicles built at the 2 plants straight through 2013 thus is very dangerous and now I will have to go to my mechanic and if recall does come through. I certainly hoe Ford will honor repair costs done at a non dealership ad I cant get an appointment for over a month!!

Vehicle down shifted from 6th gear to 1st gear, while going 70. Rear tires locked up and slide. Vehicle repeat the issue after a brief stop on the side of road to check for broken parts and determining there was nothing visually broken and no warning lights, error codes, or weird sounds when cranked. Pulled vehicle over and called for a trailer. Trailered vehicle to residence. Found where Ford has a recall for similar event in the 2011-13 models related to OSS and PCM.

Our 5.0L 6 speed automatic transmission will perform fine, but at random times will downshift, start in 5th, jump from 2 to 4, start and stay stuck in 1st. After cycling the key several times this can clear it out but not always. The downshift is scary and could cause an accident as this has done in recalled vehicle years. It is a matter of time before Ford has to recall the SAME transmission just a different year. The dealership did "flash" the transmission or the vehicle's computer to fix the program just in case a couple of years ago when I bought this. However, even my dealership's parts person said that this sounds identical to the lead frame issue on the earlier models. This is frustrating and dangerous to have these vehicles on the road like this.

While traveling at 60MPH transmission downshifts to 1st gear causing rear end to basically lock up and skidded into oncoming traffic lane. Luckily I didn-??t hit anyone. Transmission also locks into 5th or 3rd gear at a stop and will not shift out. Unpredictable at best, VERY DANGEROUS.

On several occasions while driving at 50+ mph my truck suddenly downshifts from 6th gear to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to lock up and skid. i have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they refuse to do anything because they can not duplicate the issue. this has happened several times the last time was on the freeway causing me to shoot over 2 lanes of traffic almost causing an accident. the ford dealership and the extended warranty company ameriplus both refuse to help because they both say that they can not duplicate the problem but the vehicle comes up with dtc codes p0731 and p0722This is extremely concerning that this will happen when driving at highway speeds and the fact this vehicle is my daily driver and I usually have my kids in the vehicle with me. Im very concerned about the safety of driving now especially after learning this exact issue was recalled on the vehicles a year before mine with three same 6 speed transmission, but not on my year.

Driving 55 mph the truck slammed into 1st gear at the same time rpm shot up then jumped to 3rd gear then stuck in 5th gear i thought they fixed this issue with the update on the ecm in 2013. If it is a problem with the lead on the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission why is that not being replaced instead of making it shift to a higher gear. With it shifting to a higher gear is not a fix its a bandaid for a bigger issue......
