My breaks have become squishy. Every time applied. I wait impatiently for a swift resolution.

  • 160,000 miles
Fusion brakes became very spongy last year called the dealer, took car in they reported "resetting the brake sensor", and brakes were functioning satisfactory. 2 weeks ago, problem returned on a trip of 500 miles, thought brakes were loosing fluid, checked fluid was fine. Pumped brakes in park very hard X 5-10 reps X 3 sets, brake partially returned. Arriving home brakes functioned fair. Now past 2 days unable to reset brakes and they are very spongy, very risky for travel and performing unexpected stopping. Ford service reports some of these vehicles are under recall some are not"? I will redress this with dealer this week. Now steering fault is showing up, looses assist while driving, makes parking and avoidance maneuvering difficult and dangerous. Again some vehicles under recall not mine ?"

I was at a parking lot and was pulling out in reverse when my car was still moving backwards without stopping because the brake pedal went to the floor and I pulled the E-brake. I turned off the engine and turned it back on and the brakes were working again and I went to an empty road and tested my brakes and realized that when I went reverse my brakes weren't working. I tested it again after a couple hours and it worked fine but soon after that it stopped working again. I have been told that it is the hydraulic control unit (hcu).

  • 113,000 miles
Pressed on brake pedal to stop for traffic light and alarm chime sounded. The dashlights for ABS system and skid control lit up along with warning to have advance braking system service. Brake pedal went to floor but I was able to stop vehicle in non emergency situation but just barely avoided rear end car in front of me. I was traveling about 20-25mph. Pulled car to side of road and turned off key and then restarted. Dash codes cleared and car operated normally since. I would not have been able to stop vehicle in an emergency situation. NHTSA recall covers this problem for the same Ford model vehicles as mine but my VIN is excluded. Please extend the coverage to my VIN

  • 125,000 miles
Problem started about June 2020. ABS & traction system warning lights come on at engine start. Brake pedal travel is longer than normal in on road use. Appears to be the same as Ford recall no.19S54 but this (Fusion hybrid) car isn't covered.

problem #223

Sep 242020

Fusion

  • 80,000 miles
The vehicle ABS module failed at about 80,000 miles, resulting in delayed and more difficult braking. This could cause the vehicle to not brake properly and has resulted in documented accidents. This problem is related to Ford recall #19S54 and NHTSA campaign id 19V904000. The Ford dealership mechanic said that the problem with the brakes exhibited the same manufacturing defect as the recall, but since the vehicle was manufactured at a slightly later date (< 2 months after the affected-parts end date). Upon contacting Ford, they refused to include the vehicle in the recall because of this. We are alerting NHTSA that more 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid vehicles may be impacted other than the ones captured in the initial recall.

We were driving and the lights on the dash was flashing and I could not stop the car. The brake pedal went straight to the floor. I had to shut the vehicle off and back on. Drove it home and parked it. My wife drove it a few months later and had the same experience.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard, without warning. The contact called the Ford store san leandro dealer located at 1111 marina blvd, san leandro, ca 94577, and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The technician recommended a diagnostic test however, the contact declined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

  • 140,000 miles
My Ford Fusion 2010 hybrid has a brake malfunction and while I am driving the car will randomly indicate a brake sensor failure, and the brake pedal will have to be depressed all the way to the floor without warning while driving. Oddly enough, turning the car off, and back on, will fix the problem. So while on the interstate, if I experience this sensor failure/4 oddly enough, turning the car off, and back on, will fix the problem. So while on the interstate, if I experience this sensor failure/faulty I have to pull over immediately and shut the car off and back on and hope it does not happen again while driving 70+ on the interstate. It caught me off guard one time as I was getting ready to pull off the interstate and the brake pedal depressed and had almost caused me to fly off of the ramp, as I was not ready to have to attempt to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor, just to get it to slow down. I can prove this with video footage as well for evidence.

Sep 252020

Fusion

  • 95,000 miles
When vehicle is in motion and braking on snow covered, wet and/or bumpy roads, the brakes will momentarily fail as the brake pedal goes way down to near the floor before re-engaging the brakes. This results in temporary loss of breaking and greater stopping distance then initially intended and has happened on multiple occasions. This is a major safety issue as I almost hit a pedestrian on a city street when the brakes failed to engage while breaking over a small pot hole. The pedal needed to be depressed down much farther then normal.

The brakes feel stuck and slow responding, with extended brake pedal travel. Also the "check brake" light appears. Match the symptoms for Ford Fusion recall 19S54, and was also built in hermosillo, Mexico, and yet because my car is a hybrid, my car is not technically recalled, despite having the same, highly dangerous issues.

  • 175,000 miles
I stepped on my brakes for a red light on a city street and suddenly the brakes went to the floor, my dash lit up with several brake warning lights and I had to use a lot of pressure on the pedal to bring the car to a stop. I realized that I had lost most of by braking ability as well as regenerative braking. Checking the internet revealed that there is a recall out for this problem on Ford Fusion built in Mexico during the time frame that my Ford was built in Mexico using dot 3 brake fluid as mine uses. The recall(NHTSA #19V-904 Ford #19S54) states that it is non-VIN specific. I contacted my local Ford dealer and he said the VIN # of my Ford did not qualify for the recall"?" I called Ford customer service and they said too that the VIN # disqualify 's me from this recall and could not tell me why. I was told to set up an appt. With a dealer, dealer, pay them $130 for an analysis, and then Ford would add it to their database of problems for future consideration. The recall states ABS modules are having valve problems but Ford has limited their acknowledgment of the problem to certain modules. Per the recall I talked to the gave them the data on my ABS labels but they had no idea which date code, etc is covered by Ford. Another call to customer service resulted in a scripted response of we don't know which modules are covered and why my car is not. Escalating to the "manager of customer service was another brick wall, they refuse to tell me the specifics of the model/serial#, even the part number or date code of the modules covered so that I can verify what I have in my vehicle. Ford has put blinders on to the fact that more ABS modules have problems than their engineers have identified. Checking the internet reveals many others were treated to the same denial that I have experienced!!

While driving at a speed of 45, the brakes was quickly depress to stop from hitting a vehicle in front. While pressing the brake pedal the vehicle was coming to a stop then hit a bump in the road the brake pedal went half way down before catching again. The vehicle was able to come to a stop before having an incident.this has happened many times.most of the time is when the vehicle hits a bump in the road while breaking.afterwards stopping and braking distance was normal. This condition is.leaving the vehicle unsafe to drive in fear the next time the vehicle doesn't stop in time.the time was during rush hour on a busy city street.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floorboard before bringing the vehicle to a stop. The contact stated that the failure occurred each time the vehicle was driving. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contract called pat milliken Ford (9600 telegraph rd, redford charter twp, mi 48239), and was informed parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The failure mileage was 142,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I am the original owner. Over the years, after a hard braking incident, the vehicle's ABS system would signal 'error' it would then clear anywhere from a minute or so to up to a day or more. On the most recent hard braking incident, the ABS when into error mode and after several weeks has not cleared the error. I noted that there is a recall #19V90400 for my model make and year but I am being told that my VIN number is not included. It seems odd since I have been experiencing this ABS error issue after hard braking, to the point of slight tire screech, for literally the life of the vehicle. It finally appears to be to the point where the error will not clear.

I have Ford Fusion 2010 bought used and driving it for about 1 year and 4 months now. For the last three days in a row the break goes down to the floor and gets out of control, break failure appears on the dashboard while driving. You totally feel like it is going to crush with the car infront of you. In my case I have to turn on emergency light and turn off the engine. And when I restart the engine and drive and it comes back to normal. This is really very dengerous if it is in high speed traffic and in driving between cars. When I search about this issue I found a cbs news on youtube published December 2019 that Ford was is recalling Ford Fusion from 2006 to 2020 about the same issue I have. I called Ford customer care about this issue, but they told me there is no recall made with this issue and told me that to fix the car and keep the receipt for further investigation.

  • 189,170 miles
While driving on a city street, I came up on my turn and tried to slow down. The brakes started to apply and then went soft and the pedal sank to the floorboard as I continued to press on the brake pedal. I was afrsid that I could not slow down enough to safely make the turn. I had to pump the brakes repeatedly to slow down, but I had to apply the emergency brake to stop as the brakes would not fully stop the car. Checked brake fluid level which was above minimum, but filled to maximum and tried to bleed brakes. Drove home very cautiously. Replaced brake master cylinder which did not fix brake problem. Researched problem further online and found recall on 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, however the build dates do not include this car by approximately 2 months. Our Ford dealership refuses to honor the recall for this reason. Have also read other claims of 2011 Ford Fusion also having this same issue. It is quite evident that the recall did not extend far enough to protect other Fusion owners from this terrifying safety hazard. Considering taking this matter to local media as well.

MY WIFE SAID SOMETIMES HER CAR DOESN'T WANT TO STOP AND THE PEDAL DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT. A FEW DAYS AGO A CAR IN FRONT OF HER MADE A SUDDEN STOP SO SHE HAD TO HIT BRAKES AND HER PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR SO SHE HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. FROM THAT TIME FORWARD THE CAR HAD NO BRAKES WITH PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. I REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND IT DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING SO I TOOK IT TO LONG LEWIS FORD IN HOOVER AL. THEY CHARGED TO BLEED THE BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH DIDN'T CHANGE NOTHING....STILL NO BRAKES. NEXT, THEY SAID THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER I INSTALLED COULD BE DEFECTIVE SO THEY CHARGED TO PUT ON ANOTHER ONE....THEY SAID THAT THE CAR DOES HAVE BRAKES BUT PEDAL STEAL NOT RIGHT BECAUSE THE PEDAL GOES HALFWAY TO THE FLOOR. THE GUY MIKE CALLED AND SAID THAT THE CAR HAS BRAKES BUT THE SHOP MANAGER FEELS LIKE THE ABS PUMP IS BAD SO I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE I WANT TO BE CERTAIN THAT THE CAR IS SAFE FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE. THEY REPLACED THE ABS PUMP AND THEY SAID THE BRAKES ARE GREAT WHICH MEANS THE PUMP WAS BAD ALL ALONG. THE FINAL BILL WAS $2119 WHICH BLEW MY MIND. I CHECKED TO SEE IF MAYBE THERE WAS A RECALL ON A 2010 FORD FUSION AND IT WAS ONE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD BUT MY CAR VIN DIDN'T MATCH THE RECALL. SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT MY VIN DIDN'T MATCH THE RECALL. I TRULY FEEL LIKE ALL THE 2010 FUSION SHOULD BE RECALLED AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ALL THIS MONEY. IT'S NOT RIGHT....PLEASE RESPOND AND HELP. MY # I [XXX]. I HAVE NOT PICKED VEHICLE UP YET SO I DON'T HAVE A RECEIPT TO UPLOAD....I WANT PICK IT UP UNTIL TOMORROW INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
