Ford has sent "safety recall notice 19S54/NHTSA recall 19V-904" in January 2020 and again in October 2020. Their January 2020 notice said that they would have the parts available to fix this brake problem by "late first quarter 2020". to date, and after several inquiries about this recall notice, Ford has yet to remedy the problem. After talking with the selling dealer, I have called Ford's customer service number. They said they have no further information on this notice. Please do what you can to get Ford to correct this seemingly dangerous brake problem.

The contact owned a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph in traffic, the contact attempted to merge into a continuing lane but her brakes failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact crashed into a police officer due to the brake failure. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact did not receive medical attention. The contact linked her failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however her vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was towed from the scene and was deemed totaled. The manufacturer nor the dealer have been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Well it all began one day I was simply driving down the freeway and the brake pedal became soft after having just been working fine. I thought it was very strange, almost like when the brakes are replaced but not bled and there is air in the system. So I took it down to my local les schwab and they replaced my master cylinder and front brakes, including : new calipers, new pads, and resurfaced rotors, with no success. Now they looked into it and there is an ongoing recall described as - "ABS valve may remain open after ABS event ". my vehicle a 2010 Ford Fusion is listed as being affected but my VIN doesn't show a recall needed.

Safety recall 19S54 identifies brake problems for 06-10 Ford Fusion. My car has the exact problem described in the recall, but after taking it to a dealer for repair, I was informed that it is not eligible for the repairs. It isn't safe to drive without the repairs. How can I get it included in the recall eligibility?

  • 90,000 miles
My 2010 Ford Fusion sel twice experienced loss of braking power in 2019 during moments with ABS would have likely been activated once while braking in snow, once while hitting a pothole while braking. While braking hard, the brake pedal suddenly traveled nearly the entire way to the floor and it felt like the car was not stopping as quickly as it should. After 1 visit to a local mechanic and 1 visit to a Ford service center most recently in Dec. 2019, the mechanics could not find a cause. I've since read about Ford recall 19S54 which describes my situation almost exactly. This is NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000. I called the Ford dealer on 1/8/2021 and was told my car is not affected by the recall and I can pay for the repairs out of pocket if I choose to do so. I believe my car is affected and do not know how to escalate this to Ford.

2010 Ford Fusion built at the hermosillo plant in August 2009 is suffering from the same hydraulic control unit issues as a current recall: 19V904000 that covers the same vehicle and parts from the same plant but for a Feb. 22, 2006, to July 15, 2009 timeframe. Manufacturing defect of the hydraulic control unit is causing the ABS system to fail and not engage resulting in needing abnormal extra force to stop vehicle in emergency braking situations. Therefore greatly increasing risk of collision and reducing safety.

While backing out of driveway, suddenly all brake related warning lights came on and I lost brake pressure (pedal went to the floor) and I coasted almost to the opposite curb before pressing hard enough to stop. I towed vehicle to the dealer and was told this was an ABS module failure, and that there was currently no recall for this vehicle.

2010 Ford Fusion. No issue with brakes until 12/18/20. Parking in snow slush ABS system briefly engaged, since exactly that event the brake pedal sinks to floor under foot pressure, required pumping to get full stop. No issue with master cylinder, fluid level, or brake cylinders, pedal firm with engine off, no leaking in any condition, pedal returns to full up position after release of foot pressure. Symptoms identical to those described in NHTSA campaign id number 19V904000. Has caused 'heart attack' brake pumping to stop without hitting cars in local traffic. Symptoms present at any speed.

After the ABS activates (e.g., on an icy road), the brake pedal then goes almost all the way to the floor on subsequent brake applications. We have been told by the dealer that there was a recall on the ABS hydraulic control unit for valves not closing for 2010 Fusion, but my vehicle was not included in the recall. However, it seems that my vehicle has the same problem. This has happened multiple times.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the check brake system message displayed with the traction control warning light illuminated. While depressing the brake pedal, the pedal extended to the floorboard and the vehicle would not immediately stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the brake module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Haley Ford richmond located at 10724 jefferson davis hwy, richmond va 23237 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 152,000.

November 2020 started car in parking lot and drove 30 feet. Dashboard warning lights came on, hit brake which did not work sinking all the way to floor and rolled to stop after 30 feet. Turned engine off. Restarted and again after driving 30 feet dashboard warning lights came on, hit brake and again did not work sinking to floor. Rolled to stop after about 30 feet. Towed to mechanic. Mechanic investigated and needed to replace ABS control module. Mechanic checked for any outstanding recalls and none noted but he felt there should be a safety recall.

While driving and approaching a stop on a turn, I hit a pothole that caused my ABS system to malfunction which resulted in a great reduction in break efficiently and/or loss of breaking completely. In researching probable causes and possible solutions, the situation described is just as described in Ford recall - 19S54. My current model Fusion (a 2010 SE) is not included in the recall, however, the situation is recurring and getting worse.

The braking system near failure that puts drivers and their family at risk that Ford seems to think is no big deal. The car is unsafe to drive and yet the advance notice is all they have done. I was told months back that they would be recalling at the end of the 3rd quarter to address and fix issue. Well here we are nearing the end of the 4th quarter and they now say it will be addressed by the end of 1st quarter of 2021. I have contacted my dealer and they referred me to corporate and then the Corp. Rep had no answers either. I feel brake pedal travel and decreased braking performance is a serious enough issue where pushing back date O recall should not be allowed and Ford needs to make a greater effort to fix. And why has this government Agency pushed for a more comprehensive solution?

The brake are exhibiteing the same issue as NHTSA campaign #19V904000. Rarely, the brake pedal without warning will drop two inches to within 1/2 inch from the floorboard. This started after we had the brakes professionally flushed with the recommended and what the master cylinder cap indicated dot 3. my VIN is not on the NHTSA list, but the problem is identical. Currently in the shop having the completely flushed with dot 4. started about a year and a half ago, but only became aware of the fix yesterday.

The brakes stop working, or at least the power part did. The ABS and other brake-system warning lights lit up on the dashboard. I could get the vehicle to brake only by pushing the pedal as far as it would go. It was similar in feel to a car with no power. I doubt this this would not have been enough to stop me in time had I been going over 30 mph or trying to navigate a curve. I had to turn off the ignition and restart it for it to clear. Something similar what this article describes when it happened I had just backed up and had then pulled forward out of a parking lot onto the street when I realized I could not stop normally https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2010/02/Ford-issues-prompt-fix-for-Fusion-hybrid-brakes/index.htm
