Received an "advancetrac system" fault warning and my brakes failed. ABS system has faulted, as well as, engages during stops no matter the speed. Has difficulty coming to a full stop unless the transmission is disengaged. There is a recent recall for this model, but my vehicle was not included in this recall notice. We can't drive this vehicle due to this safety issue. Also we went landers Ford collierville tn. The report that the booster and ABS needs to be replaced costing above $ 2500. In added that brake disc needs to be turned and pads replaced costing extra $1200. Looking at the problem and the recalls. Recall # 19S54 closely associated to our issue. Please advise. I have a problem with my 2010 brake system... the pedal goes down further then it should and its somehwat harder to brake. I contacted Ford and they said they are not exactly sure what it is but can try a few things for $3000 and it may fix the problem or it may not. I looked it up and it seems Ford have a voluntary recall but I called Ford and they said my vehicle is not affected even though the year and manufacture date is identical to those cars having theses braking issues... is there anything I can do?

  • 145,000 miles
After a braking event in which the ABS system is activated, the pedal becomes soft/spongey and sinks to the floor more than it usually would. The car can still stop, but it requires a much larger application of the brake pedal (75% pushed in vs 30% for example). This has occurred at least two times in the past 6 months. One event occurred when the ABS activated due to ice on the road, the second event occurred due to braking while hydroplaning (ABS was activated). After the most recent event in which the brake pedal became soft, I was able to get normal brake functionality by repeatedly pressing the pedal while stationary. The pressure did not gradually build in the pedal as would be expected if there was air in the line, it was like flipping a switch - one press was spongey and then the next was normal. I also attempted to get the pedal back to normal by braking heavily to cause the ABS to reengage but that did not fix the issue. There is currently a recall for this exact issue on this exact car for this exact year built in the same Ford plant (Mexico) but this specific VIN is not included as part of the recall. I believe that this vehicle has a faulty ABS unit in which the valves get stuck open causing the fluid to circle through the unit rather than apply the brakes when they are applied. This also explains why the pedal goes back to normal - there is no air in the system or anything, the valve is getting stuck open and then becoming unstuck. The recall number that I believe should include this vehicle is 16V250000. This vehicle is clearly exhibiting the same exact symptoms as the vehicles in the aforementioned recall and is the same model and model year, and is also built in the same Ford plant as the affected vehicles.

Over a dozen times, beginning March 2021, with about 109000 miles, the braking system fails with no warning while driving and at times at a stop light (the check brake/ all trac light and chime come on, but if the radio is on, it is not heard). The brake pedal must be pushed almost all of the way to the floor to regain braking power, but in all of the incidents I was caught off guard, putting myself and other drivers in harm's way. Once the car is turned off, and restarted, on most occasions the brakes return to normal for a while (sometimes, this has to be done multiple times before this "fix" works). How can this hazard not be addressed with almost 200 complaints? thank you.

The contact owned a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and related a failure experienced to the recall. The contact's son was driving at 40 mph, when there was an abrupt traffic stop on the road ahead and he depressed on the brake pedal, but it failed to stop completely. The contact's son steered to the right to avoid hitting the vehicle in front but it hit the rear passenger's side bumper. The vehicle then spun into the opposite side of the traffic lane and hit a trailer, then it collided into the cement railing. The air bags deployed. Medical attention was received on the scene. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a junk yard. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000. - (recall related incident)

Breaks continually have to be pressed almost to the floor to stop, even with brand new breaks installed. Pulled in to park and went over small pothole, tried to brake but breaks did not engage for a second and vehicle kept rolling. Eventually stopped before hitting car in front of me. Mechanic says the ABS valve is stuck open and it should be recalled by Ford. For some reason my car wasn't part of the 2010 Ford Fusion recall for ABS breaks?

On two occasions the car loss power from 60 down to 30 had to pull over and shut the car down very scary situation on the highway. After sri 15 minutes or so the car started back up.had Ford run a diagnostic test and said couldn't find anything wrong. Second time did the same thing about six months later another scary situation safely pulled over and waited 15 minutes and car started, was fine for another six months. Also had two situations when brakes didn't work ABS lights came on with other lights pertaining to brakes had to pull over and shut car down for awhile. Turn car on and they were fine. Again I want to emphasize very scary situation. Dates incidents occurred 09/10/2019 and 09/24/2020 engine shut down, brakes situation 09/15/2020 and again on 04/04/2021.

Driving on rainy day, on a busy street. Cars in front slammed their brakes and I slammed mine. My car slid a little and the anti-lock brakes engaged. After that, my brakes did not go back to normal. I needed to additional distance to brake and when I would brake, the pedal would go all the way to the floor. My car has been in the shop. I am waiting to hear from mechanic to see what the problem is.

Took vehicle in to the local Ford dealership to fix brakes after rear brakes were completed and Ford replaced the brake master cylinder in attempt to bleeding the brakes Ford confirmed the brake control module is bad and needs replaced. There is an open recall currently for this part however do to no remedy realesed by Ford yet that claimed it would be available 1st quarter of the year 2021 its still not available today's date 03/09/21. Ford refuses to put her in a vehicle till parts be come available and says she can buy the part now for $1700 then when parts become available they will possibly replace again free of charge, now I dont believe its legal for her not to be taken care off over a safety recall and be basically told to kick sand. Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated thank U and also vehicle was determined not safe to drive by Ford.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the brake pedal was engaged and the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The contact engaged the parking brake to bring the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic that performed a diagnostic that located the failure code with the brake booster and the brake master cylinder. Additionally, the ABS was leaking fluid. The contact also took the vehicle to an unknow dealer that confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and that the recall needed to be performed to fix the failure. The contact replaced the brake master cylinder himself however, the repair was not completed until the recall part was replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
