The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brakes failed to function properly when applied. The brake pedal traveled to the floorboard several times, which caused the contact to have to apply force and pump the brake pedal each time the failure occurred. In addition, the electric power steering failed and caused the steering wheel to become extremely tight when attempting to turn in either direction. The vehicle was also serviced for a manufacturer extended warranty campaign regarding the throttle body; however, the contact noticed that the vehicle was slow to accelerate while the other two failures progressed. The dealer (worthington Ford, 2950 N bellflower blvd, long beach, ca 90815, (562) 420-3333) was unable to provide a permanent remedy yet for the three failures that were experienced. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action numbers: EA17004 (steering) and PE13003 (engine). The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine if they could provide a permanent repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

My 2010 Ford Fusion had ABS hydraulic control unit failure. Brakes failed to function correctly when ABS activated during braking ' brake pedal would go to floor ' with only faint braking possible. This happened three times ' thankfully there wasn't an accident and no one was injured. I took to dealer for resolution. Dealer unable to diagnose the problem first 2 times. I took to dealer the third time ' they were able to replicate the problem. ABS hcu was replaced. Repair cost was very expensive.

At random when I start my car and apply the brakes to shift the brake pedal will go to the floor. It will also not stop the car effectively for a long distance, even at 20 mph. The condition corrects its self, till it happens again. The car will also not stop quickly no matter what. A car cut me off and the car did not even have the braking ability to start ABS braking with the brake pedal pushed as hard as I could. Lucky what braking power I did have was still enough to avoid hitting the car that cut me off.

Brake a failure investigation 2010 Ford Fusion SE 2.5L I4. Brake pedal went to the floor while driving my 2010 fod Fusion SE manual transon highway. Alerted by dashboard that brake fluid was low. While putting new fluid in, noticed a leak in drivers side wheel. Repaired a broken brake line & replaced caliper at drivers side rear. Could not get brake lines to bleed properly after repair, resulting in mushy pedal with decreased braking ability. Took it to Ford dealer and received a work order stating that it needs an ABS hydraulic control unit, brake pads, rotors, etc... cost of repairs = $5,000 replaced all four brake pads and rotors and passenger rear caliper, as well as brake master cylinder. Attempt to bleed brakes even with the key in ignition & car on. No air coming out of brake line but, brake pedal still not building pressure and going to the floor. Found out that a valve in hcu had tendency to stick providing this exact result.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard without stopping the vehicle. The contact had to apply excessive force and pump the brake pedal numerous times in order to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ABS failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.

When driving, particularly in stop and go traffic, it feels like the brakes fail. The pedal goes all the way to the floor and then I have to pump the brake 2 or 3 times before I can get the car to stop. Twice it came really close to not stopping at all. The pads are fine, master cylinder is fine and the brake fluid level is fine as well. Car has approximately 97,000 miles on it and the issue has been happening intermittently for the past 10 days, with the last few days occurring 3-4 times per day.

Brakes have on two occasions got weaker. When pressing on the pedal, it went almost to the floor and was "mushy" feeling. I'm an engineer and did some research and it appears to be in the ABS hydraulic system. I did some testing and could not get it to repeat, including some off road driving putting the car into skids, etc. Neither could my mechanic find the issue. He had heard of this issue and said it is near impossible to diagnose. We are original owners with 130,000 miles. The mechanic replaced all four calipers (new shoes, etc) and ensured they were no sticking.these two incidents occurred for the first time this past year.

Brakes went to floor. Took in to Ford dealer, said it needed an ABS module. Had them replace that, it was almost $1800, then brakes went to floor again and then told us it needed a new booster, that was another $800!! brakes went to floor again, then took back and said can find nothing wrong. Cannot trust driving this car! seems to be a very common issue on these cars. This is a company car I have had to deal with and felt that this issue needed to be reported.

After the ABS engages due to braking on a slippery or bumpy surface the brake pedal will lose power to brake the car effectively. The pedal will have to be pushed to the floor and the car will only slightly slow. This has happened intermittently 2 or 3 times over the course of a year. The problem seems to correct itself after 5 to 10 minutes of driving and "pumping" the brakes. The local Ford dealer claims it is a faulty hydraulic control unit. A prior event happened with the same result when just beginning to drive on a flat, smooth surface.

When driving brakes became very weak almost to the floor, we replaced the brakes with still no good pedal. Then we replaced the master cylinder, once it was replaced it would not bleed, and still no brakes. We called the Ford dealer and was advised the Fusion were difficult to bleed once master cylinders were replaced. We sent it out for diagnostics at the Ford dealer and were charged $98. They called and said the system needed to be bleed before they could give us an exact answer of what was wrong and the would be an additional $100. They called a few days later and said it needed a master cylinder. We told them we just had replaced it. They said maybe it was a faulty part, so we picked up the car exchanged the part and still have the same issue. Called back to the Ford dealer and was told the only other thing it could be was the hcu and that was about $1600 to change. So 2 tow bills, and $200 later we still have no brakes. After extensive research we have seen this is a very common issue with the Ford Fusion and this is a very dangerous issue. Ford should issue a recall ! losing brakes while driving is dangerous ! I would like a Ford rep to contact me !

I was braking across rough (experience 1: March 2017) and icy (experience 2: December 2017) terrain when my ABS reacted to the situation. After both experiences, my brakes became "squishy" and I was unable to get a complete immediate stop. It took longer to brake, and I had to push the pedal to the floor in order to come to a complete halt. After putting the car into park, and turning the engine off and back on again, the squishy brakes remained. The only way to get a full complete stop now is to pump the brakes continuously as I am braking. It seems that when the ABS pump goes off, the open valve gets stuck open causing the brake fluid to circulate through the pump. Pumping the pedal helps, but does not solve the problem.

In my 2010 Ford Fusion sport, my brakes go soft and spongy any time the ABS gets activated. Afterward, I have to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor to get any braking. If I pump the brakes several dozen times, it comes back to normal, but the main problem is when it unexpectedly goes spongy while driving. It is a collosal safety issue. I have had the dealership attempt to fix this several times by bleeding the brake line and changing out all of the brake fluid, all to no avail. On several Ford forums, it is allegedly a known issue with the hydraulic control unit. I am going to have it replaced, but Ford hasn't seen fit to issue a recall yet.

Following a braking event that engaged the ABS system, the brakes felt soft or spongy. After depressing the pedal fully a few times, the issue seemed to resolve. Another ABS event occurred a few weeks ago, and this time depressing the pedal did not resolve the issue. The soft brake feeling has persisted for weeks. When depressing the brake pedal, there is initially a small and brief deceleration of the car, followed by at least 1 inch of brake pedal travel that does not seem to cause any further braking. Finally, when the pedal is almost fully depressed, the brakes engage and the car decelerates. The resistance felt in the during the travel of the brake pedal seems to change as the car warms up, or as the outside temperature changes. The result is that brakes feel unreliable and unpredictable every time they engage. I believe this to be associated with the problem being investigated as a part of NHTSA action number: PE16017.

I was driving home after picking up my 9yr old from school, when vehicle in front of me came to an abrupt stop, I had to swerve right to avoid hitting them and hit my brakes"at this point my vehicle shut off completely in the middle of traffic I had to restart it then drove about 10 miles when my car started chimming and the service power stearing now and advance track control warnings came on I had no control of my vehicle I could not turn the wheel at all it was locked I managed to pull to the side of the road with extreme effort I thought I was going to break something trying to turn the wheel just slitely to get to side of road car had to be towed it undrivable and completely unsafe my son could have been seriously injured.Ford has recalled these cars for the same issue in 2011 and beyond why if they have the same exact function and parts not recalling these 1500$ to fix that I don't have, ive taking great care of this vehicle but have had nothing but problems the same day this happened I received a factory recall for the purge canister and gas tank, the car when I bought it was burning up calipers wheels were coming loose break pads shearing off and rotor after rotor pad after pad and 3 calipers and a battery later because break fluid shot out of my reservoir onto my battery shorting it out conducting a straight feed from pos to neg.now this this is so dangerous if I was a less exsperianced driver this could have been tragic!!!is that really what it takes for this billion dollar company to be held accountable I mean we already payed for the vehicle least they can do is fix the problems they no have existed for along time before people die.
