After the car activates ABS, when ABS is disengaged the brakes are "soft". when depressed, they feel like normal resistance, then are soft and finally stop the car after fully depressing the pedal. I hit a small washboard bumpy stretch of road while depressing the brake, ABS kicked in and immediately went off. Brakes then soft.

When in motion as well as when stopped, the brake pedal becomes soft and I have to press the pedal down to the floor to fully engage brakes. It is difficult to control deceleration because the pedal resistance changes in the middle of braking, often increasing the stopping distance. When in motion and decelerating, the brake pedal resistance will suddenly become softer and the car will stop decelerating unless I press the pedal in farther. When stopped with my foot on the pedal, the brakes will become soft and the car will begin to roll forward unintentionally. I have to press the pedal all the way to the floor to keep the car from rolling forward. This issue worries me when I am driving in areas with many stop signs and traffic lights.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving various speeds over a small bump in the road, the brake pedal extended to the floorboard without warning. The contact pulled over, shut off the vehicle, pumped the brake pedal, and restarted the vehicle. Once restarted, the brake pedal returned to normal. The vehicle was taken to SAS tire and auto (located at 850 West bristol, Indiana, 46514), but the failure was unable to be duplicated and an error code could not be found. The contact had the brakes, rotors, and pads repaired by an independent mechanic (chuck's auto garage). The failure recurred two more times while driving over a bump in the road. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: Cas-12555603. No further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Updated 08/24/17

Drive my car so I was in motion when I started to lose my brakes they went to the floor and I almost hit a car. Took it to mr tires to bleed air out of the brake line got it back from mr tires and I was in motion with my car and started losing my breaks, had a hard time stopping at a traffic light went through the light a little luckly the light had not turn yet for the other cars that were stop. Took it back to Mr. Tires and they tried to solve the problem, still do not have my car they need to order the special part the ABS module do not know how much this is going to cost because they also have to have a special tech come in and make sure it is calibrated right, . why did Ford not put this on a recall there are a lot of complaints about this part some one is going to get hurt or killed with this happing to the Ford vehicles

The brakes in my Ford Fusion 2010 have been going loose while driving. The pedal would go all the way to the bottom suddenly I almost had an accident several times. Two mechanics told me it's a faulty ABS pump. I parked my car because I'm afraid I would kill myself if I drive it on the highway. This part is very expensive to fix please investigate this issue because it's occurring with a lot of Fusion owners.

Parking brake freezes in snowy weather when applied making it impossible to release. Reported to dealer while under warranty and they said they "fixed" it but it still freezes. Only way to free it is to drive and cause heat build up free the brake. This causes a safety hazard in snowy conditions because only one rear wheel is locked down which will cause the car to skid sideways while trying to get the brake released. This has happened on numerous occasions and now I just don't use the brake which causes another safety issue when parking on hills.

Brakes went soft, replaced the master cylinder then I didn't have any brakes at all. Took it to my mechanic and he thinks the ABS system is bad, I read a lot of comments on line to see that this is a common problem. I did stop on snow and the ABS system work then after that the brakes went soft.

The brake pedal on my Ford Fusion sport went soft almost to the floor when coming to an intersection in cold slippery conditions. This condition happened twice within two weeks. I had the car checked out by a Ford dealer and they found nothing. It happened again two weeks later slowing down (40mph) approaching a sharp corner. This time the brakes did not recover. The dealer is changing the hydraulic control unit for the ABS system. This is a very dangerous condition and warrants a recall before someone is seriously injured or killed. It is going to cost me $1,900 to repair and Ford should be paying for this through the recall process. I do not want anyone injured because of this failure mode.

The brakes seem to lose pressure, so that the pedal has to be pushed almost all the way to the floor before grabbing. It takes longer to stop than it should in those instances. This has happened on several occasions, but is not a consistent problem. The Ford dealership says it can find no problem. It seems as if it could lead to a serious accident if it occurred at the wrong time. It occurs when driving and trying to come to a stop.

My 2010 Ford Fusion has a faulty brake system. While driving on a highway, the vehicle's brake pedal suddenly became unresponsive and needed to "hit the floor" to get the vehicle to stop. The brake pedal felt "spongy" and did not seem to be applying the typical pressure as before. The brake system was inspected by a Ford dealership and recommended new brake pads, rotors, and calipers(although the vehicle had been properly maintained and serviced). After replacing all of the mentioned components the issue remained. The dealership then suggested replacing the hydraulic control unit (hcu). The hcu has been identified in forums online as a known problem with Ford to include the edge and escape. The hcu replacement is a costly repair that Ford should be investigating. Road safety should be their priority and brake failure can be fatal.

While coming to a slow stop down a small incline, I heard a loud pop, and the car started to roll forward. Pedal travel continues to be excessive with no brake warning light on, and vehicle jerks slightly to the left during the initial portion of a stop.

The master brake cylinder/hydraulic pump and control module became faulty and failed at roughly 43000 miles. My mechanic informed me that this is typically a part that should not fail with this few miles and was suspicious when he called the local Ford dealer and they had over 10 in stock. He informed me that in his 20+ years he has not seen dealers have that many high dollar parts in stock and advised I file a claim with Ford motor. I did file a claim with Ford motor but was advised they were not aware of any wider issues with the master brake cylinder/hydraulic pump and control module on my make and model year. Ford motor case numbers- cas-8423129 and cas-8428833 I noticed that my master break cylinder failed when I started my car one morning and the break pedal went all the way to the floor. I had my car repaired at my local Ford dealer, covert Ford in austin, tx.
