In the past week, my vehicle has "stalled, " for lack of a better word, at moderate to high speeds on three separate occasions. The third time this occurred, I was driving uphill during rush hour on "the cut in the hill, " a stretch of highway in northern Kentucky near cincinnati known for its disproportionately high number of auto accidents. It's a very dangerous place for a vehicle to simply stop at the busiest time of day. Because it was going uphill, the vehicle did not coast to a safer location (or even coast at all) as it had done during previous episodes and I was unable to pull over to the shoulder. I was stuck, broken down, in the middle left lane. I have brought my car into the dealership for this exact issue twice in the past while it was covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. They claimed they could not replicate the problem or find a code so it was probably just a fluke and not to worry about it. This time, when I brought my car in last Friday 8/30/13, they knew exactly what was wrong with it and had the part to replace it (which was amazing since it's on a national back order because this problem is apparently happening to everyone). My 12 month/12,000 mile certified bumper-to-bumper warranty expired 1,200 miles ago, shortly after the last time I brought it in for service. It took less than an hour for them to call me with a diagnosis. It was a faulty throttle body, just like I had told them, and it cost me almost $600 out-of-pocket to replace it. None of it was covered. Unbelievable. Ford needs to stand behind their product and reimburse me and everyone else with this issue. Unsafe and unfair!

I have spoken to a representative in response to an email sent to your tier1 email crcfmc and am not satisfied with the results.. if this is the wrong department would you please forward this on. While driving, my car lost power. I shut off the engine. After 5 min or so the ignition started so I drove it home. I took it in for service the following a.M. and was told there was a problem with the throttle which had been seen many times before.my warranty had run out a short time before this incident so I was required to pay out-of-pocket. I explained in the tier 1 email crdfmc mentioned above that this seems like a design problem and I feel I shouldn't be responsible for payment. A representative contacted me explaining my part had been replaced with one of a new design. I was offered a 50"% refund and advised that in the event of a recall I would get reimbursed the other 50%. I do not find this acceptable. Obviously fmc has a problem with the original throttle hence the necessity for a new design. I should not be responsible for payment and expect to be reimbursed 100%.

Driving on interstate at 70mph and car just loses power!!! luckily no one near us. Pulled over to side and turned car off. Restarted and proceeded to exit ramp and it did it again! a wrench indicator light appears on dash. Went to nearest gas station and attendant could not help much so we had no choice but to keep going. Started vehicle and it seemed fine this time and drove for several minutes then while riving on busy street approx 40 mph and car began to sputter and lose power; wrench indicator light came on dash and car eventually died this time. Managed to roll to side of street and turned key off. Restarted and then after driving a few minutes did the same thing; this time barely avoiding a major collision! this happened 7 times in a couple of mile radius before I could get to a garage; very dangerous! discovered that it is the throttle body and computer codes reveal it is sticking open and closed. After research on computer have discovered countless people with same problem from their Fusion. Ford must issue a recall! this is extremely dangerous!

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to lunge and jerk. The vehicle then stopped accelerating and was towed to a dealer for diagnosis. The contact was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 117,603.

Most recently, while I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion around 25 mph, my car slowed down, but did not shut off, and I couldn't accelerate. My RPM's dropped and my wrench light came on, so I pulled over and shut the car off. After a few minutes, I turned the car back on and it appeared fine. This happened 2 times in one week. My understanding is that I need a new throttle body. This car is a brand new 2010 Ford Fusion with 68,000 miles. I would not expect this type of problem/expense and am very frustrated. Side note: I have had many other issues with this vehicle since the time I bought it. The other problem related to transmission "revving" that occurred when decelerating around 25-40 mph or between gears. I had my vehicle in multiple times at a Ford dealership for this issue. They completed computer resets and ran other tests. The problem still continued. We escalated to the BBB and was awarded a Ford field service engineer inspection and had a vehicle data recorder installed. The issues I described could not be replicated.

As I made a left hand turn into my neighborhood, I felt the car sort of slip out of gear. It began slowing down so I pressed on the gas pedal and nothing happened. Then, the engine light went on and shortly after, the transmission light appeared. I coasted down the hill and pulled over. I shut off the car and turned it back on. It seemed to be fine for 5 seconds and then the two lights reappeared. The gas pedal stopped working and the car began shaking and lunging forward. I was close to home, luckily, so I coasted into the driveway and got it towed to the dealer the next day. The throttle body needed to be replaced, which after doing some research, is a major known problem with the Fusion. I'm wondering why there is no recall.

I was driving about 45 on straight stretch of road car felt like it went into neutral but it did not lost all power pressing on the gas did nothing was able to pull off road yellow-wrench light came on car started missing real bad so hard the car was jumping a little so I cut the car off and then it started back up and ran ok for about 10 miles did the same thing again-I took it to local Ford dealership rented a car they told me on Friday as it did not happen with them and did not throw a code they could find nothing wrong with it and I needed to drive it again and if it happened again to bring it back on Monday- I picked car up drove it Saturday about 40 miles and same thing again I drove it on home as the Ford place was closed I am afraid to drive it as it is very dangerous -Sunday a friend of mine drove behind me to take it back to same dealership and about 10-12 miles car did same thing (4th time) was able to restart it and then drove it to the dealership with a note about the problem. Spoke to dealership yesterday and today and once again they tell me as the code was alerted and they drove it 20 miles and it was fine -the car is not fine it is dangerous to myself and others -I expressed this to them and was told there was nothing they could do as they don't know what the problem is to drive it and if it happens again to come back? I looked on the internet and found many other examples of the same problem -if there are a lot of concerns what can be done to get Ford to admit this is a safety problem -I talked to them about the throttle body assembly problems but was told it may be the problem but would not recommend replacing it because they don't know.

Then restarted drove it home [ about 3 mile] and parked this has happen twice in the last 4 days. Both times driving about 45 mph. First time 8/23/2013 second time 8/26/2013

The first time this issue happened was June of 2011. I was driving on the highway, the wrench light came on and my car stalled out and I could no longer accelerate. I took it to Ford that day and they said it was the throttle body and they replaced it. Now it's August of 2013 and I'm having the same exact issue again. The wrench light comes on and my vehicle stalls and I can't accelerate. I have to turn my car off, wait a few minutes, and turn it back on to continue driving and sometimes that doesn't fix it. When I contacted mullinax Ford in apopka, fl they acknowledged there has been issues with that certain part and that they have the most updated version of the part that they said Ford has fixed the deficiency with it. However, that part isn't covered under any warranty so I would have to pay almost $300 to have it replaced yet again.

I drive approximately 80 miles per day, 5 days a week. While driving on the highway at normal speeds of 45-60 mph, my Fusion lost all acceleration power. This has happened 3 times in the last week alone. Each time, the wrench warning light appeared on the dashboard so I had to coast to the side of the highway and restart my vehicle before I could return safely to the road. During each incident, I was in several lanes of traffic, and losing all power certainly creates a dangerous environment for me and other drivers around.

My vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion SE V6. I was traveling at 80 mph in the left lane on the highway when my car decided it no longer wished to accelerate. My speed immediately and drastically slowed despite keeping my foot to the floor on the accelerator. Because I did not touch my brakes, there was no warning of my rapid deceleration to the vehicles behind me by way of brake lights. The vehicle directly behind me missed hitting me by about 2 inches and the vehicles behind that had to swerve - in very heavy traffic - to avoid hitting both of us. It was an extremely dangerous situation. I quickly threw on my hazards and pulled over on the left side of the highway. With my foot completely on the brake and the car completely stopped, the car shook, sputtered, and seemed to try to literally jerk forward entirely by itself. The only warning light that came on was the little wrench (throttle control/powertrain/stability). I put the car in park and removed the keys. I sat there for about 2 minutes, then I started up the car, saw no warning lights, and continued driving to my destination without a single issue. It was a truly terrifying experience. It has happened twice before but both times were at low speeds with no other cars around. I took it in to the dealership then and was told they could find nothing wrong with it.

I was leaving work driving down columbia pike road in arlington, va. @ 3:30 in the afternoon on August 22, 2013 heading towards interstate 395. I has stopped at an intersection waiting for the light to turn green and my 2010 Ford Fusion began to shake violently, as if it was going to cut off for no apparent reason. I looked at the dash board and saw an illuminated wrench and could not figure out what was happening. The street light turned green and I mashed on the gas pedal and the car did not have any forward motion. The car continued to shake violently, so I immediately turned on my emergency flashers to warn the other cars and for my safety, that I was having a mechanical problem with my car and coasted down the hill looking for a safe location to try and figure out exactly what was wrong with the car. As I coast down the hill, I continued mashing the gas pedal with no results. I pulled over stopped the car and turned the car off for a few minutes trying to figure out my next step. Just by chance I decided to try and restart the car and the car started up with forward motion. If I had been on the interstate 395 near the pentagon, I could have lost my life because of this problem. I called my wife who lives in atlanta and told her what had happened and by chance that evening on the atlanta news other Ford owners were describing this very same issue (throttle body failure) on there Ford vehicles. I am filing a complaint against Ford motors to get this problem fixed at no cost to the Ford owners. We paid our money for a quality product and Ford should stand behind there product and fix it not just run away from the problem.

Upon accelerating from a dead stop at a traffic signal, I could not accelerate past 15 mph. I pulled over to the side of the road an the car was idling very roughly and on the verge of stalling. I turned the car off, waited 1-2 minutes, restarted the car and the car was running "normally". I don't recall if any of the dashboard lights came on. I took the vehicle into my local Ford dealer and was told that the issue is the throttle body and it needs to be replaced and that the stalling could happen at any given time. Unfortunately the part id on back-order for 1-2 months so I need to live with this dangerous issue for some time. The car is a 2010 Ford Fusion. I am the original owner (purchased in Dec '09) and this is the first occurrence of this stalling issue.

I purchased my 2010 Ford Fusion in April of 2012 and have had many incidents of the "check fuel inlet" message after filling up. Sometimes it will trigger the check engine light to illuminate. I have had a diagnostic test ran when this has occurred and was told it was that the gas flap didn't seal properly when I removed the fuel nozzle. This again occurred on Aug. 17, 2013 but the car was running fine. Then on Aug. 22 I had 3 incidents within 30 minutes of each other. The first incident was while traveling on the highway at approximately 65 mph the wrench warning light came on and the vehicle lost all power. I managed to get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it and was able to travel the next 4 miles with some sputtering and racing of the engine. The second incident I was pulling away from the curb trying to accelerate. The wrench warning light came back on and the vehicle had no power. The third incident I was traveling approximately 20 mph when the engine again lost power and the wrench warning light came on. After researching this issue it seems to be a common occurrence and should become a recall by Ford Motor Company.
