I was driving home at a speed of 70 from work on the freeway when the car powered down all of a sudden. A wrench light turned on and the accelerator pedal did not work I had to pull to the side of the freeway when I stopped my car the car felt as if it was trembling so I turned it off for a few seconds then turned it back on surprisingly the wrench light turned off and the car worked fine again. I kept driving carefully at a speed of 60 now and 20 miles later it stalled again. My car at the moment is at 43,000 miles I bought it new in June 2010. I took it to O'reillys so they can troubleshoot and find out what was wrong with my car and they said it was the throttle body. I continued to call a Ford dealership since I still have powertrain warranty which covers the engine and transmission but unfortunately the sales rep. Said it did not cover the throttle body. At the dealership to fix this problem will cost me $93 to find the problem, $150 for the service and $400 for the part. I am a nmsu student living in Texas and drive 30 miles everyday to school and sadly cannot afford this kind of expense. I'm afraid to keep driving it causing to get rear ended while the car stalls or even worst causing a car incident leaving injuries.

We were driving along a city street heading toward a busy freeway. We stopped at a red light. When the light changed my wife accelerated (pushed the pedal) to get going the car traveled about 500 feet. It lunged and slowed to about 2 - 3 mph. When my wife tried to accelerate again the car wouldn't speed up. We pulled the car over to the curb as best we could. The car wouldn't start right away. A yellow warning wrench lit up showing this to be a powertrain problem. The car did start after about a 5 minute wait. We drove it home and parked it. I am afraid to get in it until it is checked out by the dealer. Thus, I am having it towed to the dealer this morning. I have read online of a similar incident happening to other owners of the 2010 Ford Fusion. Had we reached the freeway and had it stalled like this we could've caused a serious accident involving other vehicles.

While driving on the freeway my car was running but when I pushed on the gas nothing was happening and the yellow wrench light was on in the car. I had to coast out of the way of all the traffic with being ran into and thank goodness it wasn't during rush hour. This has happened five times since I bought the car used and it doesn't even have 65,000 miles on it yet. I have already taken it to the shop and they determined it was a clogged fuel injector. That was cleaned it the car ran fine for half a day and then it did the same thing twice in one day within fifteen minutes of each event. I put the car in park and turn it off and turn it back on and its fine. This seems to be a problem with the throttle body which seems to be the issue that is all over the internet. This needs to be recalled because its a matter of time before someone dies or gets hurt when this happens to their car.

I was driving 35-40 mph when all of a sudden my vehicle slowed, started shaking, the wrench light came on and my gas pedal would not respond. I pulled over, turned my car off, waited for a moment then turned it back on. The check engine light was on but it seemed fine so I decided to continue my drive toward home. 10 minutes later, as I was getting off the highway at 55 mph in rush hour traffic, the car suddenly started shaking, slowed to limp mode and my gas pedal became unresponsive. I continued in limp mode trying to get off the highway and pulled into a business parking lot. This happened several more times as we drove in the parking lot trying to diagnose the problem - once even coming to a complete stop. We used a code scanner, but no codes were being set. We suspect the throttle body but local dealer has none and we R told it is "deep back ordered". not only do I now have no car to drive, but it is extremely dangerous!

The wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. As I pull over the side of the road and brake, the car will start shaking. The only way to fix it is to turn the car off and back on again. The wrench light will disappear after that and it'll start driving normally again. First time this happened I was on the interstate with my three year old in the car with me. One unhappy momma!!!! the code it read P2111 which I have been told it is a defect in the throttle body. Hope they are right.

I was driving on the highway at about 70 mph. The car suddenly shut down and started coasting. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing. The throttle control/transmission warning light came on. I coasted off of the highway and turned off my car. I turned the car back on, warning light was gone, car drove fine the rest of the way to my destination. Next morning the exact same thing happened. Stopped at an auto repair shop. They could not diagnose the problem. Got back on the highway and made it to my destination without incident.

1 morning traffic, heavy stop and go, tool light came on, car stalled, shake and would not accelerate. 2 another when I was with children and steady speed of 65mph on the freeway and on fast lane and car no warnings shut down accelerations and tool light came on. 3 driving without traffic coming off a stop light turning on a main street and car shuts down again after no warning. Tool light comes on and engine light as well. Many other incidents have occurred and finally after several attempts to figure out what was the issues the mechanic had a code od P2111 throttle body system was the cause. Very dangerous and what is worse the car tests itself and makes the issues go away for a short time.

I was at a stop at a railroad crossing. Upon applying the gas to go, I started to loose all power with the engine starting to shake, and the car seeming to stall, but limping along. Nothing happened as I pressed the gas pedal. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road in a parking lot. The dashboard had a wrench light on. The car in the engine area was still vibrating and shaking, with no power but to limp along. I turned the car off. Waiting a few minutes and the car started up, but shaking an sputtering. I was able to drive the car to my job without any further problem. I called the Ford dealer and make an appointment for the following Monday. When going home, I drove at 30 miles per hour. The car lost all power two more times, stalling and limping along with the wrench lite on. I was able to get the car to the side of the road and it limped to my home. At this point, car was not safe to drive and the next day, aaa towed car from my driveway to Ford dealer. I mentioned the throttle body problem and dealer told me it would have to happen when they test drive in order to have part changed. They did give me a loaner and reported to me that car stalled out and lost power on their test drive. Throttle body part was changed and car has performed well since that time. $550 bill at Ford. This car was a death trap to drive with the throttle body defect.

Engine lost power without warning. We were at low speed and could get off the road. Dealer has cleaned the electronic throttle body and reinstalled it. Concern is what happens in the future if failure is in a very dangerous location. There should be a recall for this condition.

Traveling down the highway at 70mph using cruise control, when the wrench symbol appeared on the dial and the car slowed way down and would not accelerate. We were able to pull to the side of the road, turned off the engine, waited a few minutes to restart and were able to drive away at normal speeds. This happened two more times within the 2 hour trip. We scheduled an appointment with the dealership and were told the problem was the throttle body and that it had to be replaced, but there were no parts available in the entire country and the part was on back order until perhaps 2 months. We were told this is a fairly common problem, but there was no recall forthcoming. I believe this is potentially a life-threatening problem that should be addressed by the company. I'm getting my car back from the dealership because I need transportation and have not been offered a loaner for the duration of the time it will take to get the new part. I will be living in constant fear that the problem will recur and I could be left stranded on the side of the road at some point when the car will not reset.

2010 Ford Fusion / 2.5L SE. One the freeway at a speed of 70mph and engine RPM at 2100 and transmission in D the throttle stopped responding and the vehicle speed began to rapidly decrease. The engine RPM dropped to 900. Very dangerous situation because of freeway traffic and no shoulder. After vehicle throttle stopped responding put the vehicle in neutral (now gliding down the freeway) and turned the engine off and restarted. This did not fix the problem, engine RPM returned to 900 and no throttle control. Was nearly hit while trying to glide to the right lane by traffic. Once the vehicle was glided to a stop shut the car off and removed key and waited a few minutes as semi's came within inches of my vehicle at 70mph. Restarted the vehicle and throttle responded. After two minutes of driving the issue repeated again.

Driving to work on 8/5/13 at around 40mph when my vehicle starts to automatically slow down and shake. I looked down at the dashboard and noticed a "wrench" was lit up for a warning, but it was not there when I started the car before going to work. I was able to pull over and stop for a few minutes. I started the car again without any problems, and the "wrench" sign was not lit. I was able to make it to work, which was another 5-10 miles away, but I drove around 25mph in case I needed to pull over again. Later that same day, the same exact thing happened while driving on the highway on an incline at a speed of 50mph. I was almost hit from behind because the car stalled immediately without warning and the driver behind me could not tell that my car was slowing down immediately. Luckily I was not hit and I was able to pull over and stopped the car for a few minutes. Again, I re-started the car without the "wrench" sign lighting up. I drove straight to the dealership. They were not able to look at it that day, so I had to leave the car overnight and get a rental. I received a call the next day from the dealership and was told that it was a failure of the electronic throttle body. Total out of pocket cost of almost $690. My vehicle is only a little over 3 years old and only has 52,000 miles on it.

While driving on the freeway in November 2012, going about 70mph my car lost power and began to shake, my check engine light came on as well as the transmission light. I turned the car off and then it started it and it was fine. I took it into my local Ford dealership and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. July 25 2013 I was only going about 10mph and the same thing happened again, from July 25th till Aug 3 this happened about 10 different times all going about 30mph. The check engine light stayed on for 2 days Aug 2/3. I took it in again to my local dealership on Aug 6 2013 were they told me my electronic throttle body was bad and need replaced and was going to cost me around $670, and my car is under warranty but this part is not covered. I see that alot of other have had the same problem and this part should be recalled asap. Im not paying to fix and part that is faulty in so man Y vehicles.

I was driving along an expressway at 55 miles an hour when the car suddenly slowed down and would not accelerate upon stepping on the gas pedal. I had to pull over and turn the car off. When I turned it back on, it ran fine but the wrench light came on and then went off. The next day, the same thing happened on an expressway. I took it to a local garage but no lights were on and it did not repeat the problem. A few weeks later, driving on a street road at 35 mph, the same thing happened. It occurred again a few minutes later on a highway at 55 mph. This time the check engine light came on and stayed on. I went to my local garage the next day and they put the computer on the car and found the problem was the throttle activator. I have just left a message with the dealer today and am waiting to hear back if they will fix it even though the car is no longer under warranty. I am very concerned about driving the car as my daily drive to work is on expressways with limited access to a shoulder to park on.

I was traveling on the kennedy expressway in Chicago at about 4:30 pm at rush hour time. The little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and I could not accelerate at all. When I touched the gas pedal nothing happened at all. I managed to get off on the nearest exit and was blocking traffic. Finally I tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. This solved the problem temporarily. This happened to me three times intermittently, twice on the highway and once as I was trying to make a left turn at a busy intersection. No warning. The light comes on and you have no acceleration. I'm being told it could be the throttle body.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 55 mph while the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to increase speed. The contact pulled over and the vehicle was restarted numerous times before it would accelerate. The vehicle was not repaired nor was the failure diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

My car had 2 problems. First, was the powertrain transmission. It's the same situation as what others described, but my car started malfunctioning on the month we bought new and less than 100 miles. I don't have the specific miles and dates because I'm recalling from 2009 and it's now 2013. When I tried to change the gear from drive to park is when I first noticed the problem. I felt a sticking on the gear and a slight awkward movement of the car. I told the Ford service department where I bought it in elizabethtown, ky. Not sure when, but not right away and they didn't do anything. Then, a few months later, the car seem like it's changing gear on it's own, but I was on a flat road and have not touch the gear shift or not push the gas pedal any less or more, or braked. It did this a few times, so I took it, but again, the dealership did not do anything. Then, later, I made a right turn to a highway with heavy traffic, but clear when I entered. My car accelerated for a second, then just wouldn't accelerate anymore, and a car got pretty close. Finally, it went. I took it as soon as I can to a dealership in columbus, ga. Because an accident could have happened and was scary. But, they only checked the computer system. Nothing was done. Then, same scary thing happen on the highway again and again. Finally, I took it in 2012 and told them they have to fix this before we get into an accident. Finally, they fixed it after many times of trying and before an accident occurred. It was diagnosed with transmission problem and have not had any problem since 8-1-2013 at around 37,000 miles on it. This time it's the throttle assembly, but, they fixed it right away here in Hawaii. This time it just loss acceleration while driving on the road. Thankful that my kids and I made it safely on the side of a busy intersection.
