I was driving along an expressway at 55 miles an hour when the car suddenly slowed down and would not accelerate upon stepping on the gas pedal. I had to pull over and turn the car off. When I turned it back on, it ran fine but the wrench light came on and then went off. The next day, the same thing happened on an expressway. I took it to a local garage but no lights were on and it did not repeat the problem. A few weeks later, driving on a street road at 35 mph, the same thing happened. It occurred again a few minutes later on a highway at 55 mph. This time the check engine light came on and stayed on. I went to my local garage the next day and they put the computer on the car and found the problem was the throttle activator. I have just left a message with the dealer today and am waiting to hear back if they will fix it even though the car is no longer under warranty. I am very concerned about driving the car as my daily drive to work is on expressways with limited access to a shoulder to park on.

I was traveling on the kennedy expressway in Chicago at about 4:30 pm at rush hour time. The little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and I could not accelerate at all. When I touched the gas pedal nothing happened at all. I managed to get off on the nearest exit and was blocking traffic. Finally I tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. This solved the problem temporarily. This happened to me three times intermittently, twice on the highway and once as I was trying to make a left turn at a busy intersection. No warning. The light comes on and you have no acceleration. I'm being told it could be the throttle body.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 55 mph while the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to increase speed. The contact pulled over and the vehicle was restarted numerous times before it would accelerate. The vehicle was not repaired nor was the failure diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

My car had 2 problems. First, was the powertrain transmission. It's the same situation as what others described, but my car started malfunctioning on the month we bought new and less than 100 miles. I don't have the specific miles and dates because I'm recalling from 2009 and it's now 2013. When I tried to change the gear from drive to park is when I first noticed the problem. I felt a sticking on the gear and a slight awkward movement of the car. I told the Ford service department where I bought it in elizabethtown, ky. Not sure when, but not right away and they didn't do anything. Then, a few months later, the car seem like it's changing gear on it's own, but I was on a flat road and have not touch the gear shift or not push the gas pedal any less or more, or braked. It did this a few times, so I took it, but again, the dealership did not do anything. Then, later, I made a right turn to a highway with heavy traffic, but clear when I entered. My car accelerated for a second, then just wouldn't accelerate anymore, and a car got pretty close. Finally, it went. I took it as soon as I can to a dealership in columbus, ga. Because an accident could have happened and was scary. But, they only checked the computer system. Nothing was done. Then, same scary thing happen on the highway again and again. Finally, I took it in 2012 and told them they have to fix this before we get into an accident. Finally, they fixed it after many times of trying and before an accident occurred. It was diagnosed with transmission problem and have not had any problem since 8-1-2013 at around 37,000 miles on it. This time it's the throttle assembly, but, they fixed it right away here in Hawaii. This time it just loss acceleration while driving on the road. Thankful that my kids and I made it safely on the side of a busy intersection.

When leaving home to go to the store, accelerator peddle stopped responding shortly after shifting into drive after leaving the driveway. The engine idled very roughly, so I shifted into neutral and pulled over. I put the transmission into park, turned off the ignition and then restarted the engine. It idled fine, so I continued on my trip. Shortly after, stopping at a stop sign, the same thing happened when pulling away from the stop. I was turning left, so I had to immediately turn right and pull over to avoid an accident. Restarted engine and continued to my destination. The same behavior occurred again on Y way back home when starting another left turn.

At 65 mph the car all of the sudden shuttered and went into limp mode. Pulled over to the side, wrench light was on and the car sat an idled/shuttered. Turned it off. Waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on, everything appeared fine, and no lights on the dashboard. Did an internet search and discovered many 2010 Fusion owners having same issue...throttle body. Took the car to dealer and confirmed faulty throttle body. Wanted $596 to replace throttle body and reprogram PCM. Way too much for a part that is about $150 and 10 minutes work. Dangerous situation, as highway speed and sudden loss of power do not mix.

I was going to a friends house. My car would not accelerate. The wrench light came on. If I pressed on the gas pedal the tact would move up but the car wouldn't. it was shaking. It was towed to the dealership and the throttle body was changed. Apparently the throttle body is a defective part that needs to be recalled. The dealer said that the part was on back order. Then later that day he got 8 new throttle bodies in. Seems like a problem if a little dealer like the one I go to has to have 8 throttle bodies in stock at a time. Prior to this I know realize my car had an issue from the beginning. When I would be traveling with the cruise control on going down hill, my car would down shift hard and the tact would go up very high. I would have to take off the cruise control. Also, when I put my car in drive or reverse from parked it would jump into gear. It has done this again since I had the throttle body changed. This is very upsetting. I've driven Ford all my life and career with Ford. I believe this is a terrible accident waiting to happen. I've read of a lot of owners of 2010 Fusion having the same problem when going 60-75 mph on a highway. Scary. Also, it seems the same problem has been reported in other makes of Ford vehicles.

I was driving down the interstate and my 2010 Fusion lost power at 75 miles per hour. The wrench light came on at the time of power loss. I coasted the car to the side of the interested once I was stopped the car was jerking. I turned the car off and about 3 minutes later I turned it back on. It started and I was about a mile from my house when it did it again at the speed of 40. I repeated the first step. I took the car into get it diagnosed and because my engine light was not on they could not find a problem. I thought it might be bad gas.. then today Aug 2 I was driving down the interstate at 75 and it did it again. I pulled over and turned off and it started back except this time I did not even go a mile and it did it again. This time my engine light came on. I just left a place where they told me it was the throttle body part..

While driving on I-85 South approximately 50-60 mph in moderately heavy traffic, between exits 27 and 26, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. I was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. The car continued decelerating and the "wrench light" appeared. The car would not accelerate at all. When stopped (at the ramp for exit 26), the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. The battery light appeared, then the oil lamp appeared and the car shut off completely. I was towed an hour later to keith hawthorne Ford in belmont. On Monday, July 29, 2013, the service manager, stated that the throttle body had failed; when they hooked-up the car to the testing machine, it did not show any codes. They replaced the failed throttle body, I paid for repairs and have the failed throttle body in my possession.

After driving over 50 miles, my car stalled and the wrench light came on. I pulled over and let it idle, but it ran rough. Once I turned it off and then back on, it ran okay. It stalled again later in that same trip. Then it stalled again twice on my way home. Luckily, I was on a non busy road with a shoulder. Then it seemed to run fine for a few days, but after driving over 50 miles, it happened again. I was nervous because once it stalled as I was turning onto a road without a shoulder. I was concerned that a car would come over the hill and hit me while I was turning it off and restarting it. When I took it to the dealer, I was told that the problem was with the throttle body. When they ordered the part, initially, I was told the part was on backorder and wouldn't be in until mid-August. Obviously, there is a major problem with this part when it takes so long to get the part. Totally unacceptable to wait that long for a part. Now today, my sister-in-law, who also has a 2010 Fusion started having the same problem and she has a lot less miles on her car (about 40,000). Reading all of the issue others are having with this part on the internet, I feel that there should be a recall on this part and my replacement should be covered.

I was going down the interstate felt my car jerk like it slipped out of gear and then I was unable to accelerate, I managed to pull over turn the car off. After restarting it, it was fine. I took it to the dealership I purchased it at turns out it was the throttle body, which seems to be a common problem with the 2010 Fusion. Since it was no longer under warranty I did some research on line and found a ton of complaints just like mine. I called Ford and asked about the recall however my car was not under recall for this problem. And there was nothing they would do to make it good. So I'm stuck paying the repair bill for something evidentially is a common problem. It is a safety concern and dangerous.

I was traveling on interstate at approx. 65mph downhill when I lost throttle power. Wrench light came on and I could not accelerate. I was able to coast to bottom of hill. Turned off car and restarted and drove a few miles when it happened again. Appears to be throttle body issue that many others are having. Contacted Ford dealership and obtained new throttle body. Will be putting in new throttle body tomorrow. Ford dealership parts employee stated that I should save my receipts as a recall in the future could result in reimbursement for my new part. This really needs to be looked at by Ford before serious injuries are incurred.

While driving on the interstate, approx. 65-70 mph, the vehicle shudders, loses all throttle response, and the wrench light and check engine light illuminate on the dash display. The vehicle does not shut off or stall, but it does enter limp mode. Once the vehicle is shut off and restarted the wrench light is no longer illuminated and the vehicle will operate normally. This situation repeated 4 different times on the incident date. After speaking with the service manager at the local Ford dealership the problem was acknowledged as a defective throttle body.

While traveling aprox 65mph down a 4 lane hwy at 6:20 am on 6/24/13, my car began to decelerate and would not respond/accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed. The red "wrench" light lit up on the information center on the dash board. I managed to get the car to the side of the road before it finally cut off. I waited a minute or two and tried attempted to restart the engine and it restarted successfully. I was able to cautiously continue driving until I reached a Ford dealership later that morning at which point they told me it the throttle body. They went on to say that Ford was not covering this repair and that there was no recall in effect! this repair cost me $300 of which I could not spare from my budget! thankfully there were no cars or tractor trailer behind when my car began to decelerate! this needs to be a safety recall immediately, before many people are killed!!!!

I was traveling at approximately 65mph down a two lane highway when I lost all throttle response through my accelerator pedal. Engine went to a very "rough" idle around 600 - 800 RPM and the maintenance wrench indicator light illuminated. Luckily I was traveling down grade and was able to safely coast the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. After safely parking the vehicle I depressed the accelerator pedal with absolutely no response. After having the vehicle towed to a dealership the service technician smiled and told me it was the throttle body that was malfunctioning. Quoted me on a price for a new part and labor without even inspecting the vehicle ($352)! if this problem was obvious to the technician without the vehicle even being checked, why hasn't Ford recalled this part?

I was driving home from the store today on a 4 lane road and was making a left turn when the car powered down to 1 mph and stayed there. Thankfully the car I turned in front of had plenty of time to slow down to avoid me. I traveled two blocks home as the car only allowed me to go 1 mph with the wrench light on and with a slightly jerky ride. I called my local repair shop and they got me in to take a look at it. I assumed bad gas or a fuel line needed to be cleaned, but also thought it was odd that a three year old car needed any work. They troubleshooter and cleaned the fuel lines and took out the moisture they thought was causing this. The mechanic then took it for a test run in the local parking lot where the car shut down on him and once he restarted the car ran fine. He said no codes came up but with investigating online he found it to be the fuel throttle needed to be replaced and he would call me for an estimate and that I might want to join the complaint issue online. I will receive my estimate on Monday. Ford really needs to take care of their customers. I have no problem paying for a wear and tear issue. I do have a problem with companies ignoring customer complaints and not tackling the issue before a death ensues. Is it really worth someone being severely injured or killed over saving your name? funny part is that I choose to go back to an american made car after wanting to support the recovery and fellow family members that work for Ford. I will never forgive Ford if they do not take care of this and if my car is $400 or more in repair. This has happened 4 times now and I am afraid to drive the car. Please help.

While driving on the highway the vehicle suddenly lost power, the wrench light turned on and it began to shake as if driving on a rumble strip. I had to pull through three lanes of traffic during rush hour without power just to reach the shoulder. I turned the vehicle off and had to gather myself, really happy not to have been hit by other vehicles. I attempted to turn the vehicle back on after a few minutes and the light had turned off and everything worked fine. The same thing happened the next morning on a residential street. Taking the car into a Ford dealer as soon as I can.
