While merging onto the interstate, the car's acceleration stopped and the car would not accelerate, found out the throttle body was failing.

Traveling North bound on interstate 77. Heavy (5pm) traffic. I was in the rightmost lane. Without warning throttle response died. The accelerator pedal had no effect on the RPM. Engine went to a rough idle speed (varying between 800 and 1500 RPM). I was forced to coast the vehicle to the right highway margin. Stopped the car. Turned off ignition. Waited 60 seconds to compose myself. Car then started and ran flawlessly. I then drove straight to the Ford dealer where I bought this car / brand new in 2010. (approximately 5 miles away from where it died). A cursory internet search reveals that Ford has replaced over 27,000 Fusion throttle bodies on 2010's, under warranty. My car is 6 months out of warranty, so dealer said tough luck. I had to pay $438.80 for repair. "regulators and Ford have logged more than 1,000 complaints. Consumer advocates in North Carolina convinced the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to begin an investigation, but in six months, the case hasn't moved past the preliminary stage." Please tell me that Ford will be compelled to fix this known issue. I read online that Ford does not consider this to be a safety issue. That is absurd. I feel very lucky that I did not cause a major traffic accident. It?S only a matter of time till someone dies!

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong gasoline fuel odor. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the fuel tank was leaking. The contact would only refuel the vehicle to half full to avoid a fuel leak. The manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 13V227000 (fuel system, gasoline) the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 135,000 and the approximate current mileage was 137,000.

I was driving approximately 70 mph in the left lane on I-40 when I heard a noise and then realized that I had absolutely no throttle response. I also noticed that the orange wrench light illuminated on the dashboard. This was especially frightening and dangerous given the fact that I was driving during a time of high-volume traffic, and there were cars behind me also going 70 mph. Thankfully, I was able to pull over to the shoulder without endangering myself or other drivers. Upon reaching the shoulder, I realized that the car was bucking and surging, and I turned off the engine. A few minutes later, I attempted to restart the car and continue driving, but upon accelerating towards highway speeds, the same problem occurred, and I moved back onto the shoulder. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership, and after inspecting the vehicle my service representative informed me that the throttle body needed to be replaced. They also informed me that there have been so many issues with this particular part, that it is on back order with Ford on a national scale. Quite frankly, I'm appalled that Ford has yet to issue a recall on this part, and I'm afraid it will only occur after someone is seriously injured as a result of their defective throttle body. I find this extremely disheartening, and I would like an explanation from Ford as to why they have not issued a recall.

Going down highway at about 50 mph when the car just seemed as if it was not getting any gas. The gas pedal would not work. Second time pulling out after stopping at stop sign and when pulled out in the middle of the road it stalled out again, tried pushing gas peddle to make it go and felt as if the gas peddle was not working at all.

I purchased my Ford Fusion at a dealership three days ago. Yesterday I was driving my car home from work and suddenly I lost the ability to accelerate, and an orange wrench popped up on my dashboard. My car started to sputter so I had to coast to the side of the road and shut down. When I went to start it back up at sputtered but started again. This happened one more time on my trip home. Both times I was nearly rear-ended. Upon researching this issue I've noticed that this is a recurring problem. What I have not come to understand is why you have not recall whatever part is causing this. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. This is extremely dangerous and I really hope that it doesn't take somebody getting killed for this part to be recalled.

Traveling on I-95 at highway speed in the left-most lane, the RPM dropped off dramatically and hovered around 1,000 RPM. The car did not respond to my pressing the gas pedal. The car never stopped running completely but would not run past 1500 RPM (appx.). I pulled off the side of the road, turned the car off, put it in park, and restarted the vehicle. It started fine, ran for appx. 2 miles, and did the same thing again on 2-3 more occasions. On one occasion, it didn't make it more than 20 yards. I went to the nearest Ford dealer (less than appx. 5 miles from where the problem first began) and was told the throttle body needed to be replaced after a diagnostic test was performed. I was not informed of the ongoing investigation or Ford's knowledge of the problem when I asked why the throttle body needed to be replaced. Given the age of the car and the fact that I had little choice but to agree to the repair, I asked to keep the old throttle body and have it in my possession. I was first advised that there would be a core charge to keep the throttle body but was later told there was no core charge and was not ultimately required to pay a core charge. While waiting for the repair, I used the internet to research the matter and found several articles regarding more than 700,000 Ford including my make and model. After the repair was performed, I raised the issue with someone in the service department before I paid for the repair. I was told I would need to pay for the repair (appx. $550) and there was no active program to cover the repair or reimburse me at the time. Because I needed to return to work and needed my car for work-related travel in a few days, I paid for the repair but was assured if a program was instituted by Ford to cover the repair, the cost would be refunded.

After pulling the car over and putting the car in park, the car begins to shake until I turn off the car. When I turn the car back on, it takes a minute to turn over and then drives fine until it happens again.

I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion, with 43,000 miles on the highway passing a car, when I experienced a jerk and could no longer accelerate. I looked in my rearview mirror to see a car approaching very quickly. I was lucky that I was only passing one car and it had already gotten by me so I pulled back over and coasted to the side of the road. There was a wrench light on. I turned car off, waited a moment and started it again. The wrench was gone. Took it to the Ford dealership and no codes came up. However, the etb check found a fault. The electronic throttle body was replaced. This is serious problem that needs to be corrected immediately before someone is injured or killed.

Car lost all engine power and would not accelerate going down the interstate. Car was jerking and shaking. The car had a "wrench" light on the dash. Engine codes were P2111 and P 2112. After researching online, the issue is the throttle body. It is a sealed unit and must be replaced.

Read that it was a very common problem with these Ford Fusion cars, being the throttle body. Verified with mechanics. No trouble codes given by on board computer. Several days later, engine stalled while driving on the interstate at speeds of 65-70mph. This has continued happening from time to time, even after cleaning of the throttle body that is on national backorder. Idle issues also continue. Still no trouble codes given by the on board computer.

While driving upon four occasions, the engine stopped, resulting in a loss of speed and pulling over to the side of the road amid traffic or a driving lane closest to the curb. I was unable to accelerate, turned on my hazards and slowly maneuvered to a stop. The "wrench" light immediately illuminated, which normally indicates a powertrain issue; however, during the 4th occasion, the wrench light went off and then the "check engine" light illuminated. After speaking with several service personnel members and receiving guidance, it has been determined to be the electronic throttle body. While questioning my vehicle's service concerns, I encountered another individual at my dealership with the same car and issue, which was solved by replacing the electronic throttle body. After the first incident, I let the car rest for 5 minutes, started the car back up with ease and without the same issue for 7 days. The subsequent incidences occurred within a 3 hour period. Although not on the highway each time, I feared a severe accident and stuck to city streets.

In the middle of my drive home on the interstate at 60mph, the car just suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. As I put on my hazard lights and began pulling off to the side of the interstate, the car began mildly lurching. Luckily, I was able to safely pull to the side of the interstate and get the car stopped. I turned the vehicle off and restarted a few minutes later to find the vehicle appearing to be completely fine. I got off of the interstate at the next exit and luckily made it safely home. Upon taking the car to the dealership to be looked over, I was told the throttle body was "gummed up" and would need to be replaced. I am told that this type of repair is not something commonly needed to be done on a car only a few years old with only 56,000 miles, and the sudden loss of all ability to safely control the car on the interstate is an extreme safety concern.

As I was exiting rt. 35 to interstate 75, a major traffic interchange, my 2010 Ford Fusion died and I was forced to pull over to a very slim berm area to shut it off and start it back up again. It seems the throttle body was "stuck" and it had to be replaced. This was a very dangerous situation that I should not have been involved in due to something Ford knows is an issue with Fusion. Please encourage a mandatory recall so that lives are not lost! I was fortunate to not have caused an accident but someone else may not be so lucky. I would hope that Ford would not want any casualties on their conscious and would fix this known problem.

I was driving on 1-95 in Virginia in the left lane early in the morning with my cruise control set. All of a sudden my cruise control shut off and my car started to slow down very fast. I was lucky that no one was behind me in the left lane or else I could have been in an accident. After sitting on the side of the highway for a few minutes I restarted my car and was able to drive on the road again. About 30 minutes later my car did the same thing where the gas pedal wouldn't work and the wrench light came on. The part of the highway did not have very many exits so I had to start my car up again in order to make it to an exit with a Ford dealership. Once at the Ford dealership I left my car to be looked at the next day. The Ford dealership called me to tell me it was the throttle body and it was going to be $600. I went in to buy the part to try and replace it myself and told the car dealership that I was very upset because my car wasn't even 3 years old yet and that I was still paying on my loan. The supervisor said they had seen this issue on other Fusion and was going to only charge me $300 for the part and they would handle paying for the labor costs. This is a serious issue that is very dangerous especially when it happens on the highway.
