I was traveling on I-65 at approximately 65 mph in the far left lane when I lost acceleration. The throttle control/drivetrain malfunction light came on and I was rapidly slowing in dense traffic with nowhere to lull off on the left side. I was able to pull off to the right through 3 lanes of traffic as the car shut off. I called my mechanic who advised me to restart it and drive to safety if possible. I done so and the warning light was gone and the car ran normally. I took it to my father's who used a code scanner and found a saved code of P2111. This is the code for tac stuck open. After investigation I found that Ford has numerous faulty throttle body units which require replacement. I believe the sheer volume of these issues are indicative of a bad product which produces a significant safety hazard. I could have stalled and caused a serious accident if I wasn't able to get to the right in time. This also could pose a risk if someone was turning left through traffic.

Wednesday, two days before the incident I had taken my vehicle to Ford for the $423.74 recommended 60,000 miles service. The car had never stalled before this scheduled service. Friday I was traveling on a three lane interstate in traffic and passing a vehicle in the left hand lane when I realized that I had completely lost power. Everything was working, steering, air, radio, etc. But there was no power when pressing the gas pedal. I was placed in a dangerous situation as I made my way without power to the right hand lane and the side of the road coasting slowly. As I slowed I once tried moving the car from drive to low but still no power. When my car had almost stopped I could feel a bumpy low power as I pressed the gas. The car stopped and I turned off the engine. I immediately tried to start the car again but nothing happened. It was like the starter was bad, but after 5 minutes the car started and behaved normally. I immediately took the car back to the Ford dealer and was told it was the throttle body and that there is a problem with it but not a recall. It costs over $500 to fix. I was lucky not to have been involved in an accident because of this problem. There needs to be a recall. This is unacceptable.

I was driving on the highway when my car starting losing power. The little wrench light and check engine light came on. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and shut off the car. I restarted the car, but turned off the air conditioning. After driving another 7-8 miles, I turned on the air conditioning and the same thing happened. When I restarted the car, I turned off the air and it drove fine. I took it to a mechanic because the book that came with my vehicle said to have the diagnostics checked, but the mechanic said no code is showing up.

I was driving along and the car just quit going forward even though it was still running. It would not accept more gas to move it forward. After waiting a few minutes, I could start it and it would move forward for a bit and then do it again. I finally found a place I could pull off the road and walked the rest of the way home. When my fiance came home a few hours later he went and got the car and it ran without a problem and continued to do so for a month or so when it happened again but this time it started and ran again after just a couple of minutes. I took it to the dealer where I bought the car and they couldn't find the problem. The next time was in August 2013 and a fault finally showed it was the throttle body. Of course this was after my warranty was up and now I have to pay over $600 to get it fixed. I have been doing research and why hasn't a recall been issued? I am now 900 miles from home and the problem happened again while on my way to Indiana where I am moving. I was stuck for hours on I 30 w until the car finally decided to move again and was able to get me into auburn, Indiana where the Ford dealer will have to fix it before I can head home and I have no guarantee it will fix the problem if just the throttle body is changed. I hope it isn't a computer chip on the mother board!

The first time, while driving down the interstate, in heavy rush hour traffic, the vehicle lost power and I had to make it across 2 lanes of bumper-to-bumper traffic to get to the side of the road. The "wrench" light went on and I could no longer accelerate. The vehicle stayed running, but had a very rough idle. I turned the vehicle off and it started right up and I was able to continue my trip. The next day it did it again, twice within 2 miles of each occurrence, also while driving on the highway. The second time the check engine light came on and I had it towed to the dealership. The dealership told me it was the throttle control and it was roughly $350 to have it fixed, because it was just out of warranty and it isn't covered under the 5yr 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. It only happened to me while highway driving with speeds 70 and above. Not a fun feeling having your car quit unexpectedly during highway driving. It's obvious Ford is having multiple issues with the same component, based all the complaints I have seen on the internet. By the way, the dealership told me I was lucky because Ford just reduced the price on the part as of 9/1/13. Boy, do I feel lucky!

I was driving to work in rush hour traffic with cruise control on doing about 60mph and all of a sudden the car lost power.......engine began to run rough and would not accelerate above an idle (rough idle). There was no response to the throttle; the car would not go faster and could not maintain speed. It only decelerated. I immediately pulled out of traffic to the shoulder and limped to the nearest side street. I turned the car off, checked under the hood, and when I restarted, it ran perfectly fine. A check of the web and contact with the Ford dealer indicated the throttle body was bad. The dealer indicated this was a common problem, that the part has been upgraded twice but my vehicle was not part of a service bulletin/recall. A new throttle body and about $500 later the car is fine its clear may drivers/customers are experiencing this same issue this was dangerous. When the issue happened I was being followed closely by a large truck. I had no warning and the only available option was to immediately pull out of lane and onto the shoulder.. fortunately I was in the extreme right lane and could pull out of traffic without incident - it would have been a serious incident had I been in the center of left lane, or where there was no available shoulder.

I was travelling on an interstate doing 70 miles an hour when my car made a bang and I lost all throttle response. The car was running, seemed to go into neutral but pressing the gas pedal did nothing. I was able to cost over 4 lanes dodging traffic to get to a spot where I could come to stop. After turning off the engine and restarting everything went back to normal. Now just over a week later it happened 3 more times in 1 day. Doing research it seems this is a common complaint from Fusion and escape owners. It also seems there may be an investigation under way as to whether this should be a recall issue. Now if Ford was to fix this it would be 1 thing, but after almost killing me on the interstate I now have to fork over $400 to the dealership because even though my car is several thousand miles short of the 30K mile warranty, the 3 year stipulation on my warranty ended less than 3 months ago.

While driving on the freeway, I experienced a complete loss of engine power. The ignition and electrical power remained on, but the throttle became completely unresponsive. I pulled over to the shoulder, the check engine light came on, and I turned the ignition completely off. I turned it on a minute later, the car started up, no check engine light. Throttle response was back to normal. I drove to my nearest Ford dealer where I was told it's a common problem with a failed throttle body. This could have caused a huge accident, but there was no traffic on the freeway at the time.

Upon accelerating from stop at city intersection to 30 mph, car suddenly lost all acceleration. Coasted into nearby lot. "wrench" light on. Turned car off. Luckily, no car had been approaching from rear, and this was before entering ramp to busy 60 mph highway. Car ran, as if normal after re-starting, wrench light out. Drove 15 miles to dealer service shop. Shop performed Ford's throttle body test procedure and verified throttle body had failed. Shop replaced electronic throttle body assembly; car at 54,000 miles. From researching, see that this a prevalent issue with increasing rate of occurrence (a top 5 car complaint over past 90 days). Given the apparent incident rate, intermittent nature, and odds of occurring with sudden surprise in traffic moving at speed, clearly presents a hazardous condition and compromises safety in otherwise normal driving circumstances. Evidently problem occurs within predictable range on odometer, which probably indicates some manufacturing defect leading to premature failure. Along with the resulting safety risk exposure, this does not reasonably meet automotive consumer expectations for the equipment and technology. As more vehicles go through this mileage range, may become epidemic with increasing odds for bad outcomes. Wanted to add my event to the list; maybe can save someone else potential serious accident and injury. To this point, the car seems good otherwise, but this item needs to be taken seriously and by all rights get remedied in a proactive manner.

The car unexpectedly losses power. It has occurred on two occasions. You can continue to press on the gas petal but the car will not increase in speed.you must pull over to the side of the road. Turn the engine off. Wait a few minutes and restart the car in order to gain control of the throttle again. It has a defective throttle body. This is a known issue to Ford. They have recalled the 2010 escape for this same issue. Ford needs to recall the 2010 Ford Fusion for this issue before someone is killed or injured.

The engine RPM drops to zero and the car coasts to a complete stop. Sometimes upon restarting the engine, the car shakes violently. When it does start you can travel maybe a few feet sometimes a few miles then it starts all over again. I have taken it to be serviced and they identified the problem as the throttle body.

While driving on the freeway at approximately 50 mph in rush hour traffic, I suddenly lost all throttle control, requiring me to coast to the side of the freeway, thru 2 or 3 lanes of traffic. The amber "wrench" light was on. After stopping the car and shutting it off, I restarted it, and all was well again. "wrench" light was off, and I had full power/throttle control again. I continued my commute without further incident. The commute home was uneventful too. This is the second occurrence of the problem in the past month, and is very un-nerving when it happens in rush hour traffic as you coast while losing all power, trying to change lanes and avoid traffic. I'll be taking the car to the local Ford dealer in the morning. Searching the NHTSA database shows lots of complaints for this same issue. I think it is time for Ford to have a recall.

On Monday, August 19, the car was serviced - the works fuel saver package. On Sunday, August 25, I drove the car all morning, both highway and town driving. Later on Sunday, the car was parked for close to 1 hour. Then I drove the car for approximately 10 minutes. After I was stopped at a red light I could not fully accelerate on green as the engine shook violently, the wrench light was lit. I was able, but only slowly, to pull over and stop the engine. After a few minutes I was able to start the car. No wrench light or engine shaking. I was able to drive home. On Monday, August 26, I drove the car and once again at a stop I could not fully accelerate but was able to pull over as the wrench light was lit and stop the engine. I started the car and was able to drive home. I then called the service department. Got an appointment for Wednesday, August 28. On Tuesday evening as I was driving the car to the dealership to leave the car overnight, once again the car had no acceleration from a stop with the wrench light lit. I started the car and drove to the dealership. On Wednesday, August 28, service found that the electronic throttle body assembly had to be replaced.

I was driving on interstate 71 and the car felt as if it was loosing power. The wrench light came on and the engine light came on. I pulled over to the side of the interstate and turned the vehicle off. I waited a minute and started the vehicle. It started and I accelerated and I pulled onto the interstate. About a mile down the road the same thing happened and the vehicle lost power. I pulled over, waited and restarted the vehicle. I again pulled onto the interstate and the vehicle seemed to be okay to drive although the engine light was still on. I drove it directly to john nolan auto service. They checked the vehicle and stated that the eec. Diag. P02111 stored in the computer for throttle body stuck open. They removed and replaced the throttle body assy and re-programmed the PCM.

I was coming home from work and I had just turned left on to [xxx] and the car start slow down I tried to accelerate but the car slowed to about 2mph and the engine just started to shake badly it wouldn't even pull the hill going to my house so pulled over in a neighbors yard and called my father he told me to just cut it off and wait a couple minutes then retry it and after I wait it started fine and the wrench light went off so drove it to my home about a mile away and it did it again when I was pulling in my drive way if this had happened when I was turning on to my road I could of been hit by another car this is a safety issue and needs to be recalled before some one gets hurt or killed. Basically the car shut down driving down the Pennsylvania turnpike on Friday morning at 65 mph, the car totally shut down. This happened 2 times at 65 mph and one time at about 25 mph while entering the turnpike. I was very lucky that the tractor trailer behind me going about 70 mph, saw something was wrong with my car and had time moved over into the passing or he would have hit my car and killed me. This happen one more time during my morning commute at that speed. I took my car yesterday to the Ford dealer and he repaired the throttle body motor assembly. I have notified Ford customer service case # cas-#[xxx], but I believe this is an immediate life & health safety recall issue. For the last couple of weeks I have been having an issue with my 3 year old Ford Fusion (2010) started stalling out at random times for no apparent reason. When this happened the first time I called my local dealer and asked him what may be wrong with my vehicle and he said that there was a common issue with the throttle body, which causes the car to stall occasionally and that it would cost me around $350 for the part alone. I believe this to a major safety problem because one time this happened to me I was traveling on the highway at 60mph with a semi-truck behind me and the trucker came very close to hitting me. I also had this happen to me at an intersection while taking off from a red light, turning left. I have done some online research about this issue and it does seem to be a problem amongst many Ford Fusion owners in cars that are only 2 or 3 years old. If this is such a common occurrence that Ford dealers know that this issue exists then I ask why hasn't this part been recalled?

My 18 year old son was getting ready to get on the freeway and the vehicle suddenly slowed to 30 mph. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the throttle body at our expense. This issue is so common that Ford is having a hard time producing enough throttle bodies. The part is on national back order and this particular dealer had a car in the shop that had waited 1 month for this part. This is a serious safety issue. One minute later and my son would have been doing 65mph on the freeway. Imagine if he was in traffic and suddenly could not travel faster than 30 mph. In addition, since this event the Ford sync and bluetooth features no longer work.

My vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion SE V6. I was traveling at 80 mph in the left lane on the highway when my car decided it no longer wished to accelerate. My speed immediately and drastically slowed despite keeping my foot to the floor on the accelerator. Because I did not touch my brakes, there was no warning of my rapid deceleration to the vehicles behind me by way of brake lights. The vehicle directly behind me missed hitting me by about 2 inches and the vehicles behind that had to swerve - in very heavy traffic - to avoid hitting both of us. It was an extremely dangerous situation. I quickly threw on my hazards and pulled over on the left side of the highway. With my foot completely on the brake and the car completely stopped, the car shook, sputtered, and seemed to try to literally jerk forward entirely by itself. The only warning light that came on was the little wrench (throttle control/powertrain/stability). I put the car in park and removed the keys. I sat there for about 2 minutes, then I started up the car, saw no warning lights, and continued driving to my destination without a single issue. It was a truly terrifying experience. It has happened twice before but both times were at low speeds with no other cars around. I took it in to the dealership then and was told they could find nothing wrong with it.
