I was on a highway interchange going around a loop approximately 30 mph when my power steering assist cutout. The power assist fault and the service advancetrac warnings showed on the dash. As I came to the end of the turn I nearly oversteered due to the power steering cut out. I contacted Ford about it since it is a known issue that has been recalled on many of the 2011-2013 Fusion. No recall was ever issued to my car, even though it was affected by this issue.

The car gave a power steering assist fault indication. The dealer diagnosed a bad steering gear. The steering gear had to be replaced. This problem has been found on other Ford with this electronic/electrical steering. A Fusion model was subject to a safety recall. This issue is a definite safety issue and should be general recall for all Fusion and Ford with this type steering.

2011 Ford Fusion were recalled in 2015 for sudden loss of power steering. My 2011 Ford Fusion was not included in the recall, but should have been because last winter I suddenly lost power steering while in motion, turning in a parking lot. Fortunately I wasn't going fast at the time, and I was able to safely stop. The auto shop used "tsb 11-11-03" that was published on Nov 3, 2011, which indicates the Ford Motor Company knew about high friction issues in some control arms that can cause the power steering to fail. The auto shop followed the service procedure specified in tsb 11-11-03 and replaced both control arms, which fixed the problem. Since the known service procedure fixed the known problem with the power steering, I presume my 2011 Ford Fusion should have been included in the recall from 2015, and perhaps other excluded 2011 Ford Fusion could be in jeopardy of their power steering suddenly failing, considering mine didn't fail until November of 2019.

Power steering assist failure. My power steering has failed several other times in the past 6 months before the noted date of this complaint (06/21/2020). The remedy always was the same, turn off the vehicle and restart it. This time it has failed for good. Since Ford does not have an active recall for my VIN number I am forced to pay out of pocket to replace a faulty part. I have scoured the web and seen numerous complaints by others Ford owners about this same issue. They more or less say the same thing "nobody can help us". I believe that Ford has cherry picked which vehicles they wanted to issue a recall for, in order to do the bare minimum. Please help. Your time and consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While driving the power steering failed and said power steering assist fault. Also the stability control system is showing. I know there were recalls on the 2012 Ford Fusion in 2015. This has happened 4 times to me and almost caused an accident while driving with my children in the car. 3 times it failed then came back working but now doesn't work at all. This is my only form of transportation and I need to have the recall honored on this car. I raise 2 of my grandchildren and I do not have $2000 to fix this problem. Thank you

Power steering default -wheel locks -this keeps happening-I ran into a ditch once-once I was getting on interstate-took it to Ford dealer and was told they couldn't get code-I really don't' know what to do now because this keeps happening-I see this is a common problem with this car-when you call corporate they act like it's all your fault. I'm 67 years old and this is very stressful for mean-im afraid to drive my own car-I feel like it's become a death trap and no body is doing anything!!! does somebody have to die before Ford will be held accountable? my vehicle has always been moving -either im backing out or driving.

While turning and going slow the steering makes a very bad creaking sound that is impossible to ignore. Have noticed many other people with the same problem on Fusion and nobody knows a fix. I'm not sure who will see this but if it is taken into account Ford needs to recall these as it is very common with Fusion from 2010-12.

I own a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid, it started making a grinding noise when turning mentioned it to my local Ford dealer mechanic who couldn't get it to replicate. That was on 7/16/18, he recommended an alignment. Had that done on 7/31/18.I was notified of an airbag recall, and waiting on parts to have it serviced. Then at oil change in Aug 2019 I mentioned that the noise is occurring more frequently worse when turning louder the faster. He again couldn't get it to replicate however told me the power steering computer was on a recall for reprogramming. On 10/10/19 I had recall 15N01 epas steering efforts reprogram power steering control module done. After getting it reprogrammed the noises completely stopped. Its been less than a year and the noise is back and louder than ever.... but without dash lights on its not covered by recall!

Would lose power steering in the middle of driving. Steering wheel becomes tough to steer. Looked it up pscm recall. Had repaired at Ford dealer. Says I'm not getting reimbursed because car wasn't made in certain factory. My car was manufactured the same timeframe of the recall also. The recall needs to be opened up to more manufacturing plants. It's the same problem. Get this. Even the repair that Ford dealer made. Year down the line failed again. I have all the documentation.
