I have experienced loss of power steering assist several times. Usually happened when backing out of parking area. Yesterday happened while driving. Power steering assist fault alarm shows on dash. I took to Ford dealer after first time, they said no faults were in computer, so could not diagnose. It has happened several times since and no trouble codes are registered. This is a very dangerous issue and feel a recall is needed. I did take it in several years ago on the recall to check the software. Obviously that fix did not take care of the issue.

I had a recall on my car in 2015, I already got the work done in 2014. Recenty the part defalt again I took it into Ford they are saying it's nothing they can do because it's has more the 150,00/ miles on it. As I was driving down the road (I had my daughter and cousin with me), my wheel started pulling to the left hard. A light comes on saying 'service advance track now'. when I took it to the Ford dealership, they told me there is a recall but because my car is over a certain mileage that it's not covered and it'll cost me $2000 to fix the problem. I've done some research online and there are lots of others that's having the same problem that I am. I've contacted Ford several times and they refuse to fix this issue...even though it's under a recall. I'd really appreciate it someone could get this problem resolved. My son started his Fusion and the power assist fault light came on. He couldn't turn the steering wheel. The car was shut off, and when I arrived and started it, it was fine after being put in reverse. I researched recalls and found many on this vehicle. Air bags, lug nuts, power assist to name a few. I called Ford and they ran the VIN #, they said the number was not covered. How can certain #'s be covered when they all have the same problem !? I guess the only fix is to to have people who can't afford to fix it ($2000) drive unsafely because Ford won't admit they are in the wrong ! I can only hope nothing happens while he is driving..
