On around 11/10/17 steering became to heard to control while driving. Took it to dealer and they performed a recall. They replaced steering gear assembly. About 4 months after that same problem occurred at around 3,000 miles. Took it back on 7/09/18 to the dealership and was told that the part they replaced shorted out and that because it was too long from the time they replaced it, they couldn't do anything about it, instead they wanted for me to pay close to $4,000 for repairs. My car stood parked for 4 months before I took it because I couldn't drive it and did not have money for a tow truck to take it to dealership. I don't understand how a recalled part that was fixed only lasted 3,000 and has no warranty.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the power steering malfunctioned due to a previous unknown recall repair in 2015. The power steering modulator was reprogrammed, but the power steering gear was not replaced. Recently, the power steering gear failed. Corwin Ford tri cities (1225 N autoplex way, pasco, wa 99301, (509) 544- 8000) offered to pay for the power steering gear to be replaced, but refused to pay to repair the steering column and steering wheel. The manufacturer was contacted and agreed with the dealer. The failure mileage was 134,400.

The first time the power steering went out I was driving in traffic and lost control of the wheel, it completely locked up had to have it towed to the dealership in panama city, fl. The second time my teenage daughter was driving it and the same thing happened complete power steering failure, again had it towed to the dealership and this time had to pay for it to be repaired since the recall was complete on it. The third time was on the interstate doing 70. Once again we are having to have it towed to the dealership which can't even look at it for a week from now. Come on already!! Ford needs to own this issue before there is a major lawsuit. Fix these cars before they kill someone! this is every year an issue.

A power steering warning light came on during driving and the power steering failed while driving. There was no accident that followed, but only because the area was a straight flat road out in the country. I took it to a dealership, they replaced a power steering module under a recall after I paid $200 to replace an electrical wiring harness. Had it out of the shop less than 2 weeks and the light again came on and the power steering worked until it was parked, but the next time it was started, the power steering would no longer work. The dealer is saying the gear is out, and it is $2300 to repair. I bought this car for my daughter who is a very inexperienced driver and an accident could have followed either of these failures. We got lucky and both times she was in a safe mode of travel for such a failure. The date listed below is the second failure of the power steering.

I contacted Ford and they said they will not replace it. Because I don’T meet the guidelines for the recall. My car is over 150,000 miles. And I will have to pay. I felt like this is not okay I only had this car for 2 months and the owner never took it in when it was under 150,000 miles. If it’'s on recall it shouldn’T have a time frame to get it fix. If they messed up on their end fix it. Now they asking me to pay out of pocket to fix on their behave.

Driving in the city, when steering wheel's power stopped. Indicator warning stated "power steering assist default". I finally was able to pull over to the side of the road. Called aaa and car was towed to my home.

The vehicle had not been repaired for a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that a new rack and pinion was needed. The failure mileage was 81,000.
