The power steering went out while driving my 2011 Ford Fusion. I was driving on the street in the subdivision that I live. I could barely get the vehicle home. I could barely turn the corner. I was terrified. I called the dealership the following morning and had the vehicle towed. There is not a recall from Ford on this yet.

Dash displays "power steering fault". this has happened several times in a 3 week span. This happens after turning on ignition steering wheel cannot be turned during this time. Ignition must be turned off and back on in order to clear display fault and regain power steering capabilities. This has only happened while car is not in motion so far.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have experienced loss of power steering assist several times. Usually happened when backing out of parking area. Yesterday happened while driving. Power steering assist fault alarm shows on dash. I took to Ford dealer after first time, they said no faults were in computer, so could not diagnose. It has happened several times since and no trouble codes are registered. This is a very dangerous issue and feel a recall is needed. I did take it in several years ago on the recall to check the software. Obviously that fix did not take care of the issue.

I had a recall on my car in 2015, I already got the work done in 2014. Recenty the part defalt again I took it into Ford they are saying it's nothing they can do because it's has more the 150,00/ miles on it. When I got the power steering work done the frist time it only had 84000 miles. I have contacted customer service and they are saying it's nothing I can do. I still make payments so I am stuck at this point not to mention I just got new tires for $700. Is there anything that can be done about this. As I was driving down the road (I had my daughter and cousin with me), my wheel started pulling to the left hard. A light comes on saying 'service advance track now'. when I took it to the Ford dealership, they told me there is a recall but because my car is over a certain mileage that it's not covered and it'll cost me $2000 to fix the problem. I've done some research online and there are lots of others that's having the same problem that I am. I've contacted Ford several times and they refuse to fix this issue...even though it's under a recall. I'd really appreciate it someone could get this problem resolved. It's dangerous and now I have to worry about how I'm going to get where my kids and I need to go every day.

My son started his Fusion and the power assist fault light came on. He couldn't turn the steering wheel. The car was shut off, and when I arrived and started it, it was fine after being put in reverse. I researched recalls and found many on this vehicle. Air bags, lug nuts, power assist to name a few. I called Ford and they ran the VIN #, they said the number was not covered. How can certain #'s be covered when they all have the same problem !? I guess the only fix is to to have people who can't afford to fix it ($2000) drive unsafely because Ford won't admit they are in the wrong ! I can only hope nothing happens while he is driving..

The vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering) by levittown Ford llc (980 S broadway, hicksville, NY 11801) on March 20, 2017 for the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the recurrence. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 96,343.

The power steering in my 2011 Ford Fusion has been going out periodically. When this happens, I have to wait for the opportunity to make a wide turn because it's very difficult to turn the wheel. There's been several occasions when I caused traffic jams or almost got rear ended since the car behind me didn't expect me to take so long to turn. A lot of times the power steering goes out when I'm stopped at a red light. I can still drive the car to my destination locally using the streets but I fear that it will go out one day while I'm driving on the freeway. Luckily it's usually only me in the car when it happens but I'm afraid that it might also happen when my kids are in the car. It's also frustrating because only I can drive the car because when it happened once when my wife drove it, she panicked and wasn't strong enough to turn the wheel. This time, she did have one of my children in the car. I had to go meet her and drive it home. I've been researching this issue and have found that thousands of vehicles with the same make, .model, and year have experienced similar issues yet only certain vehicles are part of a recall. My car is experiencing exactly everything that the recall says it would yet when I run my VIN #[xxx] through Ford database, my car does not fall under this power steering recall. Which I find very disturbing. I've also contacted Ford corporate and my local Ford dealership and they just advise me that my VIN # is not part of that recall. Which is very odd. In March 2018 I went to get in my car and a warning came across my dash board that said power steering assist fault and then my steering would not move. I got it fixed then. Now almost a year later it's having the same issue but this time it locked up where as last time all I had to do is restart the car and it released.
