The power steering goes out without giving you any warning. It has happen to me several times since I had my car. It says (power steering advance now). I can keep driving, but once I turn the car off. The steering wheel locks. When I crank it back up, the steering wheel is locked and I cant drive it anymore.I have to call a tow truck and have it pulled to Ford auto nation. What I'm trying to say is that this happens and there is nothing I can do about it myself. I never no when its going to happen again. When they do whatever it is that they do to my car, they tell me that it won't happen again. But it does. It is a scary feeling, when it happens.

The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the mileage on the vehicle exceeded the option of having the power steering assembly replaced under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 152,000.

This is what is happening to my Ford Fusion 2011 but my VIN # is not showing up as recalled - help!! electric power steering failure NHTSA action number: PE14030 components steering opened from: October 2, 2014'September 10, 2015 summary the Office Of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a preliminary evaluation to investigate complaints of the loss of power steering while driving. The subject vehicles are equipped with a rack mounted electric power assisted steering (epas) unit. Some of the complaints alleged that the steering assist failed and resulted in increased steering efforts that contributed to a loss of control and in some cases a crash. The epas system was manufactured by TRW automotive for Ford and was designated as generation I. these units were first produced and put into vehicle production in July 2008 beginning with the model year (my) 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. The system is comprised of a mechanical steering rack-and-pinion gear with torque sensor, electric assist motor, motor position sensor and a power steering control module (pscm). The pscm is self-monitoring and designed to detect faults within the system and can store diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) if a problem is detected. There are 29 potential dtcs the system can detect. Many of these allow the system to go into reduced-assist steering mode by using the default vehicle speed signal should the live speed signal be lost, if voltage to epas system falls below 10.7 or goes above 17 volts, the temperature at the pscm goes above 105C (221F), or if high friction is detected. Some dtcs will cause the system to go into manual steering mode (no assist). On July 1, 2015, Ford filed a defect information report (dir) identifying a safety related defect in TRW gen I epas systems installed

Took my car to get inspected for the power steering recall back in 2016 and was cleared. Randomly I get the message " power steering assist fault" and it disappears every time I restart my car so I took to the local Ford dealership a few months ago and found nothing. Recently, the power steering message comes on more often. My car doesnt show any problem during the time the recall was sent but now, the power steering issue that was recalled is my major problem. My vehicle has been cleared of the recall list since I took it to the dealership and found no power steering issue at that time.is there anything I can do for Ford to fix this issue now?

My son went to move put of his parking space and the steering was completely gone, and the brakes were also gone. We had the entire brake system replaced last year already as they went out when my 17yr old daughter was driving the car, that cost $2600 and now the it happens again along with the steering. The car has less than 90K miles on it and should not be doing this we had planned to sell this can but now we cannot as it is a danger to anyone driving it. From this site I can see both issues are known, so how is Ford getting away with selling cars that are completely unsafe" when the brakes went for my daughter she was on a 45mph road but luckily she could pull in somewhere safely. With my son he was just pulling out of the spot, and he stopped the car finally, turned it on and off a few times and all was back to normal but this is unacceptable, the car is a danger to anyone in it R near it, as who knows when it will decide to lose the steering again" we won't use it anymore, but we don't know what to do with it. It is essentially worthless even though it is only 7yrs old and low mileage. Village Ford in dearborn fixed the brake issue last ywear on this car.

Sept. 27th 2017, Ford 'fixed' my car, 79,332 miles. Problem was a loss of power steering while driving. Ford replaced steering gear and reprogrammed pscm. Now a little over a year later, car is doing the same thing, 3X today, 10/9/18, once last week, twice 3 weeks ago. Only 88,500 miles.(less than 10,000 from fix).

I went out ine morning to start my car every thing was fine. Once I was driving back to my residents my steering wheel locked up on me upon turning in. The power steering assist fault went off on the little screen in the dash! I am lucky that I was in my parking lot and not turning into a street when my car lockes up on me!!! I had my child in my car! I am now longer able to use my car because of this malfunction! my child has seizures and other medical issues that we have to go to appointments for! and I have now lost my job due to this! something needs to be done! something serious could have happened with my toddler in the car!

My daughter had her steering gear repaired/replaced under a recall and now it has gone out again...but they won't fix it cause they say she has miles over the warranty. To me, if same problems happen twice, maybe they didn't fix it right the first time. Now she is stuck without a car and I am very frustrated. The power assist failed and unable to steer. It was a $2,000 repair and a search of the internet indicates other Fusion from the same year were part of a major recall. Based on VIN mine was not. This does not seem fair or even make sense. I called Ford and they will not offer refund or repair.

There is a recall #15S18 for a power steering component on my car with Ford. That power steering unit is currently acting up. I found the recall and called Ford. I was told that if II had less than 150,000 miles on the car they would fix it. When I took it to the shop it changed to reprogram only then F T acted up again they would replace it. We both the car used in December of 2017. The previous owner had had the car N for this recall for reprogramming in June 2017. So according to the recall the unit should be replaced since the programming did not fix it. It states the car will be covered up to 150,0000 miles. Ford is saying that the recall expired at 60,000 miles yet the car had over 60,000 miles on it when it went for there reprogram in June 2017. Essentially, Ford is not honoring this recall repair.

The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V384000 (air bags); however, the interim notice indicated that the part was not available from the manufacturer for an extended period of time. The vehicle was also included in two manufacturer service campaigns: 13N03(electronic throttle body extended coverage) and 15N01 (epas steering efforts). The contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine if the failure was related to the two campaigns. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The vehicle was also taken to avenue auto clinic (1170 mentor ave, painesville, oh 44077, 1-(440) 639-9956) where it was diagnosed that the electronic computer and the electronic steering motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering) and was not included in NHTSA action number: PE14030 (steering). The manufacturer was notified and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was not available.

Lose of power steering whenever it wants & service afvamcetrac continues to come on. Suppos day yhere T no recalls yet I loose power steering at amy given time & no mechanic can repair due to the inform me it should repaired by entire new parts from Ford. Had been taken in multiple times yet then they tell me it should B ok but won't promise it due to every other power steering recall on this vehicle but mine. Need help & resolution. Has stopped workin multiple times & have had 3 accidents into curbs, my other vehicle & thx god when it happened on freeeay I was able to slam my brakes & safely get out of traffic.

Power steering continues to go out periodically..error message says power steering assist fault. The was "fixed" a couple of years ago and now going out again and they say it is not covered under any warranty cause miles exceed 150,000. Last time on expressway going over 60 mph.
