While driving, my steering wheel locked and it felt as if I was driving a vehicle without power steering and it became hard to turn my wheel and two service lights came on; the stability control. It was normal road conditions on a straight road.

IT WAS DISPLAYING MESSAGES PWER STEERING FAILURE AND ONE OTHER MESSAGE. I TRIED TURNING CAR OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON BUT THAT DIDNT WORK. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN UNION CITY, GA. WHERE THEY FOUND OUT IT WAS THE PWERSTEERING SYSTEM THAT FAILED COSTING $2600 IN REPAIRS THAT I DIDNT HAVE AND I NEEDED MY CAR FOR WORK. SO I HAD TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY TO FIX AN REPAIR THAT SHOULDNT HAVE HAPPEN. MY KIDS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS HAPPEN JUNE 2020 I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES SUDMITTED DOCUMENTS OF REPAIRS AND RECIEPTS. STILL NO WORLD ON ADDING IT TO THE RECALL LIST TO SAVE OTHERS KNOWNING THIS HAS BEEN AN MAJOR ISSUE IN THESE CARS AS WELL AS i WAS TOLD THAT YOU ALL WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR REPAIRS. While driving my 2014 Ford Fusion SE purchased in Ohio the power steering suddenly went out. This jeopardized the safety of my own children, children playing in my neighborhood, as well as, my own safety when I was left unable to steer the car. An independent mechanic diagnosed the problem. The driving gear was exposed to salt and brine due to the harsh Ohio winters. The sub-quality bolts, used by Ford, corroded and sheered allowing the driving gear to become completely detached. The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the stability control off and steering assist fault messages was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle loses power steering functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) however, the failure persisted. The contact then took the vehicle to Bob Thomas Ford West (5321 Illinois Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804) where they performed a diagnosis and informed him that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the steering gear should have been replaced under the initial recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

A warning message appeared referring to the steering system and hill assist. I have had the vehicle since 2017 and kept up maintenance as recommended by Ford. The steering becomes difficult at low speeds but improved with acceleration. This is a safety hazard because when slowing down to make a turn the delay from the struggle to turn the steering wheel could result in a collision. I have had the vehicle towed to the dealership for service. When checking recalls on the NHTSA app by YEAR/MAKE/MODEL, I discovered that this issue is common for drivers of my particular vehicle. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.-?? I live in NC and the vehicle has been through 3 Winters which could be responsible for the issue since salt is constantly spread on the roads to make driving conditions safer when ice and snow are present; however, NC is not one of the states being included in Recall number 15S14. I feel that NC should be included considering salt is used during winter.

Purchased the 2014 Ford Fusion with 63,845 miles on it. Two weeks after purchase the power steering locked up while driving (turning the vehicle) and almost caused an accident. Took it back to the car dealership where it was purchased and it needs a new steering rack. Research into this showed that Ford Fusion in earlier year models had a recall for this very safety concern and reports of many others in the more recent years continuing to have this safety issue.

Lost my power steering, while I was parked at mcdonalds, hill assist light and advance trac lights are on. I can not drive it with no power steering.the car was in part, when I put it in reverse, both lights came on and no power steering put it back in part, turn the engine off, I tried thid three or four times, finally I had power steering agian, drove 16 miles to home and it happened again. So down it just sits there, I'm not going to drive it again until it's fixed. I can't afford to fix it if it's going to cost thousands of dollars, there should be a recall, too many people having the same thing go wrong.

My power assist motor bolts broke when doing a 3 point turn causing the car loose its power steering. Researched Ford recalls for 2013-2015 Fusion and found there is a recall for this exact issue. Recall 15S14 which states the corrosion problem. My car is registered in ct and should be included but Ford say it does not apply to my VIN. The mechanics at Ford agree that this should be covered but they are unable to do anything without Ford permission. The cost is $2700. I am looking to get this covered under the recall but I am stuck. I hope someone will contact me.

My car, a 2014 Ford Fusion SE, was parked in my driveway on 1/2/2021, everything was fine on 1/3/2021 I started the car and my power assist did not work and an error of "steering assist fault service required", "service advancetrac", "hill assist off" and my traction light came on stating it is off. This car has 74036 miles and has never had a problem. I called the Ford dealership and was told there are no recalls for this. The car was stationary with no reason for these problems.
