The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that while attempting to park in the garage, the gear shifter handle fractured. The contact had to force the shifter into the park position. The following day the vehicle was towed to the dealer lucas Honda of jacksonville (7801 branding blvd, jacksonville, fl 32244) where they determined that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and replaced the handle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

At 6,000 miles engine is experiencing oil dilution. Oil is above max level on dipstick and smells strongly of gas, vehicle was cold and stationary when oil level was checked. Called a nearby Honda service center and they advised that the vehicle should be brought in for an oil change. The vehicle was just in for scheduled maintenance (including an oil change) 1,000 miles ago. An automobile should not require an oil change after 1,000 miles of use.

CR-V

  • 7,500 miles
After I pulled into my garage, stopped the vehicle, and put it into park, I released the shifter interlock button and it popped out and landed on the floor. For the past few weeks I thought the button had more play in it when, but figured that I was imagining it because what could go wrong with a button on a vehicle with only 7500 miles on it. I brought the vehicle to the dealer this morning and they ordered replacement parts and scheduled an appointment for the repair. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't give me a loaner and tell me to stop driving it since not being to shift a vehicle into park (if the button were to fall out while driving) seems like a safety issue.

The plastic detent button on the transmission gear selector broke. It is spring loaded and when it broke the button shot out onto the floor beneath the drivers seat. While it is possible to shift the car into neutral (from drive) in this condition, you cannot shift the transmission into reverse or park making this a potentially dangerous situation. I was told by my dealer that this was the number one problem with the 2017 CRV. The part was replaced for free but I am concerned that it will break again. When this occurred the vehicle was stationary, with my foot on the brake as I changed from park to drive.

Driving highway 15 East toward las vegas, nv. Light on instrument cluster "shutter grille problem - power reduced". very dangerous condition as the engine power was reduced to 50 mph on the highway, I was unable to pass an 18 wheeler truck due to reduced engine power. Stopped at nearby Honda dealer, service dept. Was closed, new car manager said "I have no idea what this code means" after sitting for 15 minutes code reset itself only to come back on after another 10 minutes of driving. Temperature was 103 degrees outside.went to Honda dealership in las vegas to be told again "have never seen this code before". no resolution - very dangerous condtion to loose 50% of engine power on the freeway.

  • 5,000 miles
My vehicle was stationed. When I put my vehicle in park everything was intact with the gear shift. I exited my vehicle and pressed the lock on my key fab. I returned to my vehicle the next evening to move it (alternate side street parking in my area). I pressed the unlock button on my key fab, reached for handle opened door got in car. I put my key in the ignition, then I put on my seatbelt. I went to put my right hand on the gear stick then I was moving my thumb to press in the button to shift gears, it was hollow no button was present in the gear stick. I screamed what the hell and started looking around. The button to the gear shift is on the floor, I say out loud how the hell did that come out? the vehicle can not be put into drive, reverse or anything. I called for a tow to a Honda service facility. I know that my vehicle had to have a defected gear shift because that button on the gear shift stick should not be able to pop out on a brand new vehicle with under 6000 miles on it. That part should near be made poorly because it can cause problems if it pops out while you are driving. The Honda service people claim someone pried it off., impossible there would have been marks on my stick and that is a very very thin space between the button insert and the gear shift stick itself. I told Honda I am the only person who drives my vehicle and my vehicle is well kept (clean) inside and out. I take good care of my vehicle, I am still paying for it. I believe on my vehicle that gear shift stick was defective from the manufacturer poorly and cheaply assembled.

Gear shift lever on center console has a silver button that must be depressed in order to move gearshift. Button disintegrated from the inside and fell oy, leaving gear shift lever inoperable. Clear a safety hazard not to be able to change from drive to reverse to park, etc. Dealership repaired under warranty, and stated this is a problem they see on a daily basis with this model.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. while driving 35-40 mph, the shift button popped out and the shifter shaft fractured. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to orr Honda of hot springs (4701 central ave, hot springs, ar 71913, 501-525-4565) where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter mechanism needed to be replaced. The transmission shifter interlock release button broke (Honda part no. 54132-tla-A62zb) thereby making the transmission shifter inoperable including the ability to place the transmission in park position. All I did was to try to place the transmission in park and, when I depressed the release button on the stalk, it fell abart. I was not able to operate the vehicle at that point.

I started my car and put gear shift to D position and my (new 2017 CRV LX) started driving when just had shifter button fall off, broken. Side affect is that now I cannot get the key out of the ignition! wheel won't turn to the "lock" position so I am forced to leave the key inside until I get it fixed! another you-tube shows its an easy fix so even though its under warranty, I am going to pay my local mechanic to fix it rather than have to drive 70 miles to dealer and have to leave it all day. Ugh! really Honda"?????? //see owners complains under the video: www.youtube.com/watch?V=ezvur2tmmdw today is Sunday and tomorrow is memorial day, how can I get it fixed if repair services on dealership do not work"

This is the third time back for repairs at the dealers. My previous complain was #11047836 when the problem was resolved by installing a new transmission when the vehicle was 2 weeks old on 10/17/2017. On 5/14/2018 we took it back to the dealer with a very noisy sound while driving.. both on street and highway at moderate and high speeds. The bearings on both right and left wheels and the intermediate bearings to the fly wheel had to be replaced. The vehicle is only 7 months old,

CR-V

  • 6,850 miles
My new 2017 Honda CRV ex that only has 6850 miles driven on it has a terrible defect with oil dilution issues due to fuel leaking into the oil pans causing overflow and dilution to the oil that is supposed to be lubricating the engine. The oil smells very potent of fuel and almost 1 quart of extra fluid was drained from the oil pan when taken into the dealer after reporting the issue. The dealer agreed that there was a major issue with fuel diluting into the oil but were told by the Honda corporate tech line that they were to just replace the oil until a fix comes out. The dealer technicians asked about changing the fuel injectors or maybe a cylinder head replacement but were told not to do anything. It is not safe to release these cars back to the owner knowing there is an defect issue that they didn't even really attempt to fix that is causing internal engine parts to break down faster than normal and could cause serious safety concerns due to eventual breakdowns leading to wrecks. The companies "fix" is to go in for an oil change every 500-1000 miles even though excessive fuel is still mixing with the oil. Honda has reported that this is happening in colder climates, but I am still having major issues with this in Tennessee weather.

  • 4,000 miles
Driving highway speed. Suddenly vehicle begins to violently hesitate and then slows and will not accelerate (more than 10 mph). Indicators read that all systems have failed. Pulled over and shut vehicle down. Would not restart. Called emergency roadside assistance for towing to dealership. Was told by dealer that Honda stated it is a common issue in cold weather (I live and purchased the vehicle in northern wi - lame excuse. Whey sell them here if they don't work in the cold). The dealership replaced the fuel injectors and various other engine parts. I also had to have the satellite radio receiver replaced (it burnt out). There was fuel in the engine oil. All this with less than 4,000 miles on the 2017 Honda CR-V. no longer have confidence in the vehicle. It runs now, but the engine is much louder with a noticable clicking noise that wasn't there when I first purchased the vehicle. I was planning a maiden voyage from wi to seattle, wa (to visit elderly mother who lives there) but lost confidence in the vehicle's reliability. What is my fix for this? dealership balked at the suggestion of replacing the vehicle with another one. Overall, I think this is a dangerous issue to have an automobile completely fail in traffic. Limping off the roadway at a maximum possible speed of 10 mph in highway traffic conditions is a recipe for disaster and the makings for possible fatal consequences. Honda should be looking seriously into this issue and not making lame excuses like this happens to the CR-V in cold weather ([xxx]). they should also be providing compensation to owners who purchased these lemons in good faith expecting the dependability of a brand new vehicle, paying (in my case) at least $29,000 for that expectation and not ending up with something that dumps fuel into the engine oil and threatens the safety of me and my (3) passengers at the time parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 5
